I love how Sony devs start getting cocky once their game becomes a huge success and earns their customers' trust.

Yep, TLOU, Horizon, GOW, Spiderman

No wonder their sequel always underperform the first game. The fanbase actually got smaller for each of those games

Yothei will underperform Tsushima, thats a guarantee

That's always the problem, isn't it?

On one hand some trends are hard to deny and can be understandably annoying in the long run, like the blatant attempts at pandering/preaching some "social messages".
On the other hand you have people who are genuinely guilty of what the other side accuse them of and are into the habit of entering a stupified frenzy every time ANY hint of representation/diversity shows itself.
Indeed, it is. We are in the age of polarization, which makes me feel pessimistic about our kind; the virtue usually lies in the middle ground.
People shouldn't pick a side blindly and should always remain careful when they do. To me, this whole drama is even worse than the console wars.

Previous experiences have made people, including me, hesitant to feel hyped before we know for sure what kind of game this will be. A game where the story is in the focus or a game where the agenda is in focus.
Previous experience:
Sly Trilogy.
Infamous 1, 2 and the Second Son.
Ghost of Tsushima

And Sucker Punch is still Sucker Punch.
Yikes, I'm scared, it's going to be a major flop like Outlaws, Concord and Suicide Squad, sure, sure.

We live in a different era now. But I'm guessing you're just being willfully obtuse.

Dude, she's just expressing an appeal to think about the very real and chronicled horrors indigenous people faced in the Americas. How in the world does that make her anti-white? And even more silly, anti-men or a misandrist?

And what is wrong with being pro LGBT? They are merely human beings that exist but are still marginalized in many ways.

Take a break from YouTube and 4chan my man. And maybe even read up on the empathetic teachings of Christ or something.

We need the eastern Devs to step up.

Nothing wrong with a female lead but her twitter tells us something deeper, why hire these loonies ffs. Just get a normal female.

But seriously, they are a voice actor, they have been in LOADS of games and (because presumably they are good at their job) will be in loads more, who gives a shit about what they do in their personal lives (so long as its not illegal)

No, I suggest you go read up and educate yourself what LGBT movement have done to kids. That's as far as I can say without breaking the rules in this forum

This is not just her voice, this was valid in the past. Nowdays this is her performance really. They capture her acting ang put it in the game.

It only matters what they do in their personal lives because it doesn’t fit their ideologies. Who cares it’s game. Just shut up and play. The spooky voice actor can’t hurt you through a screen.

I might be wrong but to me it definitely looks like they modeled it after her

Same eyes, same nose, same (or similar) face shape and structure.

DeepEnigma DeepEnigma is one of those who don't see face.

Edit: I did a test once where you could compare if profile photos taken from the front belonged to a person's side profile photo and I got a very good result. I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese faces(I'm an expert), but the eyes, nose(both tip and bridge), cheekbones and chin are basically exact copies. Not to mention the fullness of her lips.

How does this picture make her a bitch or a horrible choice?
That picture doesn't make her a bitch but some of those tweets of hers definitely do.

If it doesn't bother you that the woman on the left is going to be playing a serious, solemn, contemplative samurai who lived 400 years in the past, then good for you. Let's hope she's the greatest actor who ever lived.

What is supposed to bother me? Can samurais only be played by actors who are always serious and solemn in their personal life?

The actor who played Jin was a professional clown. Didn't stop him also playing a samurai.

I guess this doesn't matter to a lot of people because it's just her voice, but this really illustrates what a horrible choice this was.

What exactly should I see in the picture that is so bad? The flags? Nah sorry I'm a big girl, I can put up with them. The shoes? I prefer it more comfortable, but who likes it? The drink? I guess the person is old enough.

With all due respect, some of the things in this thread seem far-fetched. This is a photo of someone who is obviously having fun. Everyone is allowed to have fun. Maybe fun is the problem. Some people here seem to be missing it.

Well it would be nice if there is some connection between an actor and the part yes. Here's a crazy thought - how about picking a woman Japan could maybe proud of? I'm sure there are many talented Asian actresses who are able to carry themselves with dignity and grace in public and their online interactions. Is that really too much to ask?

Oh well, hopefully in the Gladiator sequel they'll use someone who plays with lions. And for things with aliens ... have we found a few on Earth that come from outer space? And for the next biopic of a musician, please only someone who doesn't listen to anything else. And heaven, all those voice actors voicing children. That's not possible. Was the actor in Daredevil actually blind? Otherwise it's not okay.

Do you know it's called an actor. Actors slip into roles. The roles don't correspond to the actor. Johnny Depp isn't a pirate, Orlando Bloom isn't an elv and James Caviezel isn't Jesus either. It's unbelievable, they cast a guy who can't even walk on water. Crazy, right? Gibson ... What was he thinking? No sorry, some arguments are ridiculous. When exactly did you last run into a samurai?

Whether Japan can be proud of her will be based on how good of a job she does (though I imagine most players in Japan won't use the Emglish voice.)

Actors are allowed to be happy and excited in their personal life. They don't need to conect how they act with their friends, to the personality of any future roles.

The actor who played Jin was also happy and excited sometimes.

I have zero problem with her personal views; it's very easy for me to divorce the art from the artist. Whether they show up in the game is another story.

But it is hilarious that if she had right-leaning views, everyone on the left would be petitioning that she be fired.

This isn't about her acting happy or excited. Go look up some of her tweets. It's about her character - or lack thereof.

Why not? I'm a European woman who has just bought an Asian bow. After shooting something more modern so far. xD But maybe that's also a problem. :D

Btw the training could even be for the game? Would fit. Maybe in the game she is an onna-musha who has trained kenjutsu. That would even be historically plausible. In any case, I don't see things being so bad with the woman. We don't even know how she is portrayed in the game. Women who took up weapons existed back then. Even in Japan.

You said that photo "really illustrates what a horrible choice this was."

What is it about the photo which really illustrates that?

If you want me to concede that I shouldn't judge her by that picture alone, I'm happy to do that - even though it certainly tells its own story lol.

I just didn't understand what the issue with the photo was. It's a happy person in colour clothing at what looks like an LGBT event.

She does a Vampire Masquerade tabletop RPG show where her character is straight, apparently. Knowing what we know, I think it shouldn't be surprising if she leans towards more LGBT roles than straight though. Not that it matters really in a game like Ghost. If she plays a lesbian in the game then it will be because Sucker Punch wrote her character as a lesbian.

Wait 2 Lesbians naked in a bath together confirmed?

Yeah, a ronin onna-musha in search of vengeance it's likely the core of the plot, she looks like a vagabond type chracter too with the instrument she carries, I personally dont understand the fears of this being a woke game at all

Nothing. It's a lovely picture. The kind of girl you'd like to take home to mom.

My mum is very tolerant. I doubt that she would have a problem with the person because of the look. My mum used to visit my website so often when I was still working. But she doesn't understand any of it and doesn't play such things. She's fantastic. <3

My mum is different. She's take one look at her and ask me if I was fucking nuts. Different strokes.

Actors can be attention-seeking non-conformists, news at 11. LGBT people go to LGBT events and wave LGBT flags at those events, news at 12.

No one says you need to share her views. But Yotei doesn't have anything to do with her views one way or another, until we are given some information otherwise. Some people are in fact getting into really dumb tribalistic territory, no different from the extremists who have meltdowns whenever Chris Pratt is cast in something because he goes to church.

And yes, it's perfectly reasonable to block people on Twitter, too, for any or no reason.

We're not going to do any sort of harassment campaign here or have meltdowns because actors are being actors.
