Today, in a sort of buried, sly wink kind of way, Rockstar Games announced it would finally bring PS5 and Xbox Series console features to the PC version of Grand Theft Auto Online sometime next year.

Hidden at the bottom of a GTA Online community update today, Rockstar said the following: "There is much more still to come, including ongoing weekly special events and bonuses, festive celebrations, gifts, surprises, as well as plans to bring the much-requested PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S features of GTA Online to the PC platform in the new year. Please stay tuned to the Rockstar Games Newswire for details."

What this refers to are the features contained exclusively in the enhanced release of GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles that launched back in 2022. These included everything from graphics setting enhancements to actual new features, including quality of life improvements, a new intro and tutorial, new vehicle upgrades, and a lot more. There's also character transfer features that allowed players to transfer story mode progress and GTA Online characters from prior gen systems to current-gen and even cross-platform, which suggests we may be able to similarly transfer progress to PC now too.

It's an update that's been due for several years now, and fans have been asking for it pretty much since the enhanced editions landed on console.

The rest of the community update, which talks about the stuff actually showing up in GTA Online for everyone in December, including new things to do at the Darnell Bros Garment Factory, new missions, vehicles, and some quality of life improvements.

I hope they'll release a awesome DLC on the scale and level of the Doomsday DLC. I want some crazy high tech and powerful vehicles again. Got over 40 million saved up from modders dropping money still.

The PS5 version is great. The TAA creates a pristine picture at 4K and the ray-traced shadows correct a lot of the annoying alignment issues they originally had. I'd be all aboard this update on PC too but I think i'm all GTAV'd out at this point. It's been over 10 years.

Better how?
At this point in time, the extra enhancements for PS5/Xbox Series were never ported to PC, so the console has Ray Traced Reflections and Shadows, some improved effects and rendering improvements from RDR2 that are not on the PC version. However as this thread points out Rockstar is finally bringing those to PC next year.

Stuff like that make it better overall??
Tech wise, yes, this isn't some fanboy thing, the PS5 and Xbox Series X version of GTAV IS technically better than PC, that isn't a slight on PC though, it's because Rockstar never originally ported the improvements over and took their sweet time to do this even though the PC can handle those features. Let's hope that extra few years bringing this to PC includes stuff like DLSS too.

IS it technically better missing ultrawide, super sampling, m+kb, wheels, 60+ fps, minimum input lag??? Or just shadows, TAA, reflections (at 30fps lol) that counts???

I feel like you're just being pedantic here and somehow taken these comments as an insult and you're even misrepresenting information too, the PS5 and Series X have Ray Tracing at 60fps as an option too and you're ignoring the additional rendering improvements Rockstar did for those versions.

And they're finally bringing that to PC, that's a good thing, stop trying to argue for no reason.

TAA is a downgrade compared to MSAA and GTAV doesn't really need TAA. I bet they are gonna remove sharp ghosting free MSAA and force that blur filter TAA.

I'm with you but I think any huge updates like that will be saved for GTA VI online. I've over 100m saved up legit and I've resided myself to the fact I'm never spending it.

R* should bring out some crazy expensive vanity purchases for us but realistically they're probably saving those ideas for VI.

Aside from ray tracing, another cool feature the current gen consoles got that was missing on PC was that there were animals on the desert, forest and ocean, just like on the story mode. Before this update, in the online mode there was no animals in the world and exploring the ocean with the submarine is pretty boring because of that.
