Halo 5: Launch Gameplay Trailer

I don't care if you like Muse or not - that was really out of place.

Shame, because it was an awesome trailer.

I'm still super hyped for this game, but it's kind of bizarre how the marketing has made it almost seem like Chief is a secondary character.

Or maybe not secondary but if you were to describe the game presented in the trailers thus far in one sentence, he would be the object as opposed to the subject. It's weird.

That secret link was a little scary. I was afraid a leak was waiting behind that click..... I'm going full Ben Giraud over here.

Think it's his armour and how it unfolds when he's contorted.

Badass.

*drool- NVM that is the hotness

I hope this game will be as good as they claim it to be.

But it's kinda cool that we've reached a point where the switch from CGI to gameplay isn't too jarring.

Man, I've been waiting for this since the 2013 e3 reveal and for it to finally be time for a new Halo again has me so excited.

yea some of the clips were incomprehensible and then gameplay got spliced in and it went downhill from there.

I was actually shocked at how bad that trailer was...especially considering how nicely directed the Locke cgi intro is.

This just felt like the editor didn't care at all. "THE KIDS WONT NOTICE THIS. THEY JUST WANT TO SEE EXPLOSIONS!"

Something tells me they saw the Black Ops 3 trailer and tried to emulate the frenetic cuts they do, and tried the same with Halo 5.

Just didn't splice as well.

Watched some bits, don't wanna get spoiled, seems cool.

.. that song dou..

Ah I don't follow his fandom, but I like him in Halo. His character in The Taken King seemingly being the same character is a little weird, though.

Yeah but its not just the Taken King. He is the same character in literally any job he has ever been given. His shtick is just so old at this point

I hope this game will be as good as they claim it to be.

Ha I thought it was crazy jarring.

I'm kinda hyped now. The new enemies look pretty dope, at least more exciting than 4. Should be a fun co-op run.

And the cutscenes are real time, no? Halo 4's were and they had a similar style.

The first TV spot for Halo CE was similarly frenetic.

Trailer made me hyped until the actual gameplay started. I felt like oh wow this looks next gen and then back to a somewhat nicer 360 look. What a shame. :(

Holy shiiiiittttttttt..... I just sprinted into the living room ground pounded my couch through the floor. Wife, dogs, the whole nine.

Everyone complaining about CGI and not realizing that all cutscenes are in-engine, also glad to see if only took two pages to get to a "this looks like a X360 game" comment.

Trailer was good, but the music is not what I expected. I expected
"Highway to the danger zone".
lol

Anyways, do people want gifs of some parts?

even if they're in-engine (which is impressive, they look good), it's still kind of mislabelling to call it a 'gameplay trailer' when something like 1/4 of the total trailer is actually gameplay

Gotcha

I can see how that can become grating. For me, I enjoyed Halo ODST a whole lot and I'm glad a bit of that is still around.

Unless I'm going rampant, that's Locke's visor as the cave silhouette.

In a way the parts of Chief walking away from us was my favourite part of the trailer. Getting a good feeling on how it's going to feel as Locke going after him.

Stinkles said that opening sequence is CG for all intents and purposes as i recall it. So thats why people are mentioning CG and i agree i also thought it was jarring.

An ok trailer.

It's a launch trailer with gameplay in it... so yes it does fit the description.

The first minute or so is CGI though.

The first minute is purely about the story....

Which is using all in-game assets, all the other cutscenes are all in-engine.

"Jarring" is such an over used word, you're watching a trailer that jumps between different scenes without transitions... of course it is jarring. Hell jumping between gameplay to gameplay is jarring without transitions.

The Trailers are usually amazing, but definitely thought that was weak and cheesy. I like the Opera classical music stuff usually associated with Halo. This seems targeted at a younger audience. Very blah.
