I don't think having a valid critism is "poo-pooing" on anything.

I'm looking forward to Halo 5 just as much as anybody here, but this trailer sounds like a sonic interpretation of "focus testing". The music is so out of place outside of the one lyric, that I thought I was watching a version someone put music on top of to not get caught by youtube or something.

Rather than put down people's opinion as poo, maybe try acknowledging the issue people are having and giving your own take on it.

And also, we're all people posting in a video game based thread, on the topic of a trailer for a game that's not even out yet. Don't be so concerned what people are doing with their time if your here too.

Hopefully but I'm keeping expectations low. When you have an established character that you know is a hero and then it's like "he has gone rogue" it's hard to not cringe
 
I dunno man, I think this is pretty good, epic space opera music, Lots of cuts of cool action, chief taking some aliens out to the dark water, Locke being an asshole ONI agent suckling that corporate teat, In game action looking incredible, CGI looking pretty damn good. *Shrugs* I dunno what more you could want, you may not agree with Muse but in terms of Space opera music that is hype that isn't the OST it's these guys or Queen. IMO of course.

What? No... definitely not. Halo plays amazingly well with a Xbox pad, and it was designed for that!

In the Halo novels, I was frequently surprised at how some situations ended... They were pretty good at avoiding cliche IMO... Hopefully that has translated over to this game as well...

Not only are there plenty of songs from every genre from rock to hip-hop that would have been better, there's Muse songs that would have been better.

I'm not saying muse is the issue as an artist, but this song does not fit Halo, the trailer being displayed, or anything really outside of that one basic lyric.

You can tell this song was chosen based on a loose connection with the lyrics, and because it would accepted by the target demographic with little issue. All of Microsofts commercials do it, it's how I found "Too Close" by Alex Clare.

But Halo didn't need this treatment, it's OST stands on its own legs as it is.
 
Great music, great trailer. I have no idea what's Halo 5 about and that's a good thing.

Do I have to read anything before playing Halo 5? I didn't even play Spartan Ops in Halo 4.

You should be fine. Just know that Blue Team are the same outdated type of spartan Chief is (Spartan-II) while Locke and his team named Osiris are the new Spartan-IV people.

Awesome trailer though. At least the first half with the cinematic. Gameplay looked a bit rough.


After avoiding them for so long because of what I heard about Halsey's treatment, I just started reading the Kilo-5 Trilogy by Karin Travis. Liking it so far, between it, Hunt the Truth, and ODST, ONI has become quite the force to be reckoned with. And it is all making me anticipate Halo 5 much more than I was before.

I'm more concerned about where Halo 5 will start. There was Spartan Ops, there was Hunt The Truth season 1 and 2.
 
I love the transition from the gorgeous animations of the cutscene to the janky animations in game. Game looks fun though.

I will at some point play as Master Chief in this, right?

You Should give your opinion in the lore thread when youre thru them. First two books are ok (over bloated and over indulging at times) but I feel like by the third book it ran out of steam.

One thing I noticed is that Halsey
isn't missing her arm in the opening shots of her - possibly a flashback or she is given a robot/prosthetic arm Skywalker style
either way awesome to have more of her in the main series of games. I remember for the longest time she was only a book character with off mentions in the main games... Until Reach anyway.

The jarring tonal shift in this post is delicious.

Edit: as for the song - I know some people like Muse, others don't, but I don't really get the problem with it. It works, in terms of Halo's long-established connection with rock bands, in terms of space-rock-sci-fi-melodrama, in terms of that particular lyric. It's really not that heinous, and I cannot believe I'm even typing this response.

Nah, it has to be Halo 5 |OT| The Trials of Osiris. That's what it would've been if I were still doing it.

I'm sure Slightly Live will make the right decision.
 
It's going to be difficult as hell to chose an OT title. I like "All Hail the Conquering Hero" a tiny bit more, though.
Would like to see which one Stinkles votes for.
 
The music is fine, but I could think of a million things I would prefer, including music from the actual score. But I realize this is a pleb trailer, and I can see waterfalls of drool coming from their very pores, so well done.
