Halo 5: Launch Gameplay Trailer

Not only are there plenty of songs from every genre from rock to hip-hop that would have been better, there's Muse songs that would have been better.

I'm not saying muse is the issue as an artist, but this song does not fit Halo, the trailer being displayed, or anything really outside of that one basic lyric.

You can tell this song was chosen based on a loose connection with the lyrics, and because it would accepted by the target demographic with little issue. All of Microsofts commercials do it, it's how I found "Too Close" by Alex Clare.

But Halo didn't need this treatment, it's OST stands on its own legs as it is.

Halo's OST does stand on its own, but, for example, the Believe advert wasn't the OST, and that was amazing, and what would the target demographic be? Average Muse fans? That's a pretty diverse group there buddy.

Opinions man, but the music matched up to the action really well, the music and action beats lined up great and It got the story across in a concise and intriguing manner, it may not be your bag but I can see why they would go this way.

Thought the Trailer was cool, can't wait to see how that scene spans out with Locke and MC meeting up with each other. Certainly hyped, too bad the game is coming out two days before my vacation :-(

What an awesome trailer.

What an abruptly horrible and jarring tone change with that song.

Why marketing? WHY?

It was a nice, dark, serious tone, and then you gotta go Destiny on us. Turd munchers.

Oh shit!
I think I'm going to have to buy an Xbox One again. I also just watched some Warzone videos and I don't think I can skip my first Halo. I'm weak.
Do we know how many Warzone maps there will be? I'd only be playing this mode and single player.

That scene where Locke tells Chief to stand down, and Cheif says he has a job to do, with some forerunner mystery shit in the background. Somehow, I had imagined a scene exactly like that when the premise for the game was revealed.

The other thing I think will happen is Locke reports Chief as dead, while really letting him go as a free agent.

There will be 6 warzone maps at launch and 6 added as free DLC.

3 identified ones so far:
Escape From A.R.C. (Desert/Missle Silo based)
Raid on Apex 7 (Island/Silent Cartographer inspired)
March on Stormbreak (Snowy)

Eh, not sure.
Cutscenes looked great, the little gameplay there was didn't look especially good in any way IMHO.
I liked Fillon

The best part of the trailer was that Arbiter money shot. I've been waiting for him to come back forever now, especially after the comic and the H2A shorts.

Having re-watched it again, the Muse soundtrack is goddamn perfect for this.
It's like a warm blast of grandioseness that forces itself into your soul, reaches your core, and jump starts giving it a whole new rhythm to the tune of this epicness.

It's clear that there's not gonna be a middle ground based on this alone. In my eyes, the music matches nothing, it stands out like a sore thumb. It doesn't make me feel anticipation, excitement, hype, anything. It's just sounds like a song slapped on top of the trailer with decent timing and "hey, look a lyric that goes with the story".

Also, I made no comment about it having to be a Halo song, the "Believe" trailer is the exact point I'm making here, this sounds nothing like that.

As for the target demographic comment, no not the "average muse fan", I mean 16-24 year old caucasian males, the target demographic of most AAA games hoping to make money.

Me too. I do quite like the line of dialogue there too, "117 stand down" just sounds pretty epic - we've rarely had other marines/humans/spartans directly addressing the Chief over the years so hearing Locke say this is pretty awesome.

"I have a job to do" whatever happens to make Chief go Rouge must be huge, I can't wait to find out exactly what it is and what the resolution to that may be - although I have this strange feeling the whole 'Chief Hunted' thing may last for more than one game.

When they start the music after confronting Chief, it's fucking perfect.
