Halo 5: Launch Gameplay Trailer

We also have two teams (and eras) of Spartans at cross purposes, so they could each have their own tone.

That's true.

I guess Locke could be the "america fuck yeah" action portion and then have Chief be a bit more introspective. We shall see!

I can't handle the hype, that trailer tipped me over the edge. Have a week booked off work just to play this game, my body is ready.

Still think Locke sucks though. I hope the 'confrontation' scene is just Blue Team absolutely destroying Osiris. Spartan IV's are lame, it's the II's that are actually Spartans, the IV's are just army grunts in tin suits. #TeamChief.

I'm not even a halo fan but I have to say that was damn good.

You have my attention.

As someone who hasn't played a halo game since halo 1 will I be lost if I jump in here or must I play through 2-4 before playing 5?

Can we have two themes?

Because.

That's beautiful!

Sorry if that's offensive or overkill, but that aspect of the trailer is disgusting to me.

It seems your personal definition of the word 'disgusting' is at odds with the actual definition. A trailer of a videogame should not be eliciting disgust in this case. It makes no sense here.

There's definite story beats you'd probably want to play and experience yourself if you think you might like it based on 1. The Master Chief Collection makes catching up super simple (Halo 1-4, all upscaled etc on 1 disc) but at the same time, you'd probably be set for 5 after a short TL:DR version of the plot so far.

The marketing for this game is so weird. The difference in tone from the Oni commercial to this is staggering.

Feels like there's too many fingers in the pie at Microsoft and they can't decide how they want to sell this game

Oh hey look, its the "we have to go deeper" guy.

To be honest if the MCC wasn't still broken then I would have bought it on the cheap by now most likely.

Things like checkpoints not registering correctly are a big concern to me if I'm to buy it just for the SP campaigns.

I thought the music was great, and it's going to help with the casual audience in commercials. Amazing trailer, I can't wait for this game!

Just my personal experience, but I had no trouble out of the campaigns at all (playing solo).

Of course, I'm one of the super rare breed of people who have had few issues with MCC (outside of achievement issues) so take that as you will.

I had problem with Halo 2 not saving my progress sometimes. So I have the game a pause for a while and when I came back I think it was fixed, cause I played over the Halo 2 campaing again, aswell as Halo 3 and 4 with no more issues.

This is true for me. If you play solo, you should have minimal issues going through the campaigns. The terminals loading and auto-switching to the halo channel was probably the only annoying thing about it.

Disgust:
"To feel revulsion or profound disapproval."

I greatly disapproved of the tonal change and music shift, especially coming from experiencing Halo's beautiful and popular past trailers that allowed the game's music to shine.

Disgust makes perfect sense.

Enjoyed the trailer overall. I'm done discussing this and so is everyone else.

Thoughts:

-started out good
-reusing stuff from intro cinematic was weird
-less cgi please
-cut from cgi to gameplay was a bit weird
-music was off
-should have used Osiris suite part 1 (YouTube it)
-more gameplay pleaseeeee

Overall, solid trailer, not the best, but still effective in increasing my hype levels.

That was really good, should have had the monks at the end though

I had a version of the monks at the end, but the video wasn't long enough to get the whole chant in there and it felt rushed. Opted for the ending in the video that is in there now.

Glad you liked it!
