Never played the first but super tempted with this one.

Should I go ps5 or pc?

My pc is more powerful (3080) and I have a steam deck but been seeing all the complaints.

Any recommendations?

I think it looks great on PS5 (some people were expecting TLOU2 visuals for some reasons...) and you won't have to deal with anticheat I guess

It performs and looks alot better on PC but seems like the connection issues are still heavy, youll get much quicker updates too.

On PS5 its noticeably softer image wise and hitches every now and then FPS wise on intense battles but the connections seem a little better.

Give it a week and it will be fine on both so get PC and then it will probs come to Plus when they have patched in cross progression.

I have it on both, id get it on PC.

I'm on PC with a 3080 and it runs really well as at 1440p max settings. I use Ultra Quality FSR2 and usually hit between 80-120fps depending on what is going on. I've had one crash to desktop in my 20 hours of play, otherwise (outside a couple matchmaking issues, which seems a bit better now) it's a great experience on PC.

Steam Deck also looks like it hits a solid 30fps if you tweak the settings properly.

Both platforms are fine but personally I'd go PC. No need to subscribe to PS+ and you'll get better performance at higher resolutions.

Helldivers 2 is great co-op fun for fans of action and alien bugs. It's mindless fun in its purest form and a credit to the developers for refining the basics of the gameplay so well. However, when it comes to the content, the game stops surprising pretty quickly and becomes a marathon of killing thousands of enemies and repeating familiar missions. But there is plenty of potential for surprises and innovations in the future, especially after the difficult server launch.

Well at least your threads aren't old news 😉
I really don't want to go offtopic too much in this review thread, but one of the main things I tried to help with was getting gaming news, review and preview threads, etc. posted ASAP around here, especially during early European working hours when Draugoth Draugoth is asleep. And yeah, there are other thread makers as well, but they're not as consistent as Draugoth Draugoth . :p

Oh and before joining GAF, I was frequently noticing a lot of relevant gaming news being posted late around here. I'm talking days late sometimes, which is a bit bonkers to me, considering GAF is a pretty big place. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Edit: There are also lots of people who are unsure whether a fresh piece of gaming news is thread-worthy or not, so it often gets missed by the majority of forum goers. This happens because it's being shared within already existing threads, which most people won't bother to check...

Certain things don't need a new thread. For example... Elden Ring news should be posted in the OT.

Disagree with you there. The OT for Elden Ring is in the 'communities' section of GAF where only a small amount of people are frequenting in comparison to the 'gaming' section, and like I mentioned in my previous reply, news tends to gets lost if it's posted in the OT (or even in other Elden Ring threads). I do however agree with you that for more minor news, like for example new merch or stuff like that, it should be shared in OTs or similar threads.

At its core, Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter that's unapologetically like the original. It combines brutal action and near-insurmountable odds with over-the-top, arcade-like chaos while offering satisfying gunplay and an addictive gameplay loop.

As players battle the Terminids once more and contend with the new Automatons, they'll flex all kinds of explosive firepower, from Orbital Strikes to Eagle runs and automated turrets. Backed by incredible fidelity, it makes for some fun moments.

Despite issues with matchmaking, glitches, lack of a proper lobby browser, and some desperately needed quality-of-life features, Helldivers 2 is worth checking out on PS5 and PC. The compelling sense of community and solid gameplay would be enough, but it also has one of the better monetization models in the live service sphere.

OP has been updated. Both the OC and MC scores are looking good.

Well what’s weird is that a Killzone MP game was rumored by some pretty credible sources

Wonder what happened to it?

Imagine how good it would look in Decima like Death Stranding 2
There was never a Killzone MP game or reboot in the works at Guerrilla.

The Rainbow Six director that Guerrilla hired years ago has actually been leading Horizon Online, which was initially planned to come bundled in with Forbidden West but later turned into its own standalone thing - like Factions II/TLOU Online.

The only credible report that there's been on the Killzone franchise was that Supermassive was working on a VR game around 2019, before Sony cut all ties to them.

Five improvements for Helldivers 3...

1. The terminal puzzles should be significantly longer and more fun to solve. Give players a mini Sudoku puzzle or something.

2. The pre launch landing screen should be more engaging. Make picking your drop spot a more tactical + strategic decision than it is right now. Choices need to matter outside of "We start here so we can finish our last objective near the Extraction zone."

3. Probably should have been a PvE Extraction Shooter (permadeath) to make progress feel better.

4. No more calling in new Helldivers after death. Reviving teammates is way more fun and would give the game more "Movie moments".

5. Getting to high ground should be more rewarding. Right now you don't know what you can climb and half the time, your stratagems bounce off the top.

Game is a really solid 8 right now. Will be fun to see their first few updates. Feels like a great canvas to work from.
Bruh, its been out for like 5 minutes

Loving it even more as I unlock the different perks and strategems. This is the only game I want to play for a while. Even if there was no progression I would want to play just for the fun of it.
I'm curious to see what planets there as well.

Hope there is quite some variety.

I’m surprised how many recommended the PC version. I refunded mine due to crashes on my 3080.

I’ve been told PS5 version basically never crashes so if you want to play NOW and have fun go PS5. If you want to invest and wait it out, then go with PC.

I imagine that the crashes aren't related to your GPU as I have the same card and have had one crash in 20 hours.

Not sure what is causing that problem but I know there are others that have had serious issues. PS5 has crashes too, we had one where all of us crashed at the same time (two PS5 and two PC) and it threw us back to desktop/dashboard.

I'd still recommend PC over PS5 simply because it looks better.

I play on PS5 and my game crashes 30% of the time. Can't play 2 matches in a row without it dropping to 1 frame per second. Probably the buggiest game I've ever played.

Hopefully they clean this up before the weekend. My Mom won't let me play on school days.

Had nothing like that on my PS5... I think 1 or 2 crashes in about 10 hours of play time and nothing like a 1FPS drop regardless of what's going on in game ...

What maps are you predominantly playing on? How about network?

I'm bouncing all over the place. Spend 80% of my time on the bugs though. Not sure what you mean about network though.

I just tried a clear cache and rebuild database to no avail.

I finally booted this game up this evening. This is definitely my jam. I’ll need to join a discord or something. Playing solo seems like it would get old/hard quick.

Also, holy smokes the IQ in performance mode is nasty. Graphics mode it is then.

In online games, sometimes network issues can cause the glitches as you're seeing.

Given we're both on PS5, the network is the obvious diffentiator between our experiences.

Unless you have some other hardware configuration.... are you using an external drive?

The fun I have with this game is a lot higher than 8/10. Idk where those scores are coming from. Yes there isn’t a ton of variety but that’s not even the point of the game. The gameplay itself allows for a ton of spontaneous variety as you play it. Def a 9/10 or even 9.5/10 for me.
