Also Hulu; shoves fucking ads in your face anyway.

They don't even offer a yearly version of the ad-free subscription and on top of that both their Playstation and Xbox app still have bugs, including subtitles suddenly disappearing or being out of sync all the way down to the video simply freezing making you have to close the app completely.

Playing Hulu shows through Disney+ is a better Hulu experience, which is the oddest thing.

Torrents are add free...

Netflix convinced people to give up on piracy for quite some time. But all those stupid greedy corporations had to fuck it up, didn't they? Now streaming market is a fucking mess.

I only have Prime because it's cheap where o live (one year costs less than one MONTH of Netflix) and there are free games as well.

If it's a case of live TV, then Hulu is surely getting paid for those ads through their licensing agreements. My suggestion? Viewers on the ad free tier should be compensated in some way, maybe a discount proportional to the ad revenue their views generate. In essence Hulu should pay those on their ad free tier to watch the ads. :messenger_beaming:

Seems like all these streaming services are turning into the same crap as cable TV.
I dumped cable TV because of too many ads. Then I quit Netflix because of too many price increases, and now they had ads too. Now I just use YouTube when I want to watch something, with ad blocker of course.

This isn't new. They are updating their terms of service to reflect what has already been happening. This is for live events that include live ads. Will they abuse it later? Probably.

Most services including Hulu only very recently became profitable (late last year.) They are now doing some tweaks to make a more healthy margin.

All companies re greedy but only Netflix has been pretty far into the black for a while (and people were questioning that for years even.)

Go ahead and pirate but it’s not really some justifiable act. It’s not the worst thing in the world but it’s sort of tiring to see all the people trying to justify it.

Back then I tried the $1 for whole year and that still felt like a ripoff. Oh want to watch that on Hulu? Pay another subscription on top of Hulu.

As far as I remember when Netflix made their ad supported tier they were amazed at how profitable it turned out to be. Now here we are and they're all doing it.

It's cable coming back from the dead.

Back to piracy we go.

They've been pulling this "ads on the ad-free tier" bullshit for like a decade now. The excuse back then was that they had existing advertising contracts that required this. But those should've been up for renegotiation years ago. At this point it's clear that they're scumbags who just don't care.
