what is hate speech? And what is a conspiracy theory?
I am saying this to be serious, if you ban something you have to define it.
Like Zuck says, this is a tradeoff. Freer speech means more things that are generally offensive or odious.Still don’t know why hate speech and conspiracy theories should have more of a Plattform.
Wealth and power have always been and will always be disproportionately benefited by any given setup.I guess everything’s game to keep the masses preoccupied with each other, instead of looking at the filthy rich sucking the world dry.
You won't believe what user sono did next. (1/10)The follow x example..
That is also my experience, frankly I avoided twitter/x for years, and recently signed up in the last month because it is a pre-req for grok access (which is useful). I cant believe what is arriving for me in x, honestly it reminds me of the old cheap British newspapers like News of the World but more so
Pendulum swings one way, then swings the other way, and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.
I hope that one day we meet a stable, calibrated point in the middle. I don’t really give a shit about any of this in general, but the heated discussions and biases (in both directions) are so exhausting.
You’re right, and that’s depressing to me. In a capitalistic society, the people on top have the strongest incentive to control a narrative. I’m not against capitalism, but I feel like society should be smarter about who we actively listen to.The extremes are where the money is, so no chance of that happening unfortunately.
There is a ton of child exploitation shit on Meta, especially in the reels section. It gets reported and rejected on taking it down.Man he savaged the Biden administration. I never thought the pendulum would start swinging back so soon and so switftly. Bezos also said he wants WaPo to be less biased, more balanced. Hopefully they can now focus on getting rid of all the illegal and amoral shit on Facebook instead of wasting time and resources on censoring anything that goes against "the message".
Yeah, as much as I would love to believe that Zuck had an epiphany on right and wrong, I feel like this move is based more on the election results and money. When your audience and ad revenue drop because of it you make a shift.
Yeah,he's Zuk-Fucked. I requested my information and killed that shit off like 4 years ago.Look I’m not going to give lizard man Zuck props for this. It would have happened ages ago if he wasn’t a coward, and it’s only happening now because he’s a coward.
That you can reverse something you (and many others) considered to be part of human rights because the wind is blowing the other way. He could have worded it differently or just ignored mentioning it altogether.
Era in shambles.
No really, they are.
With all the changes, I feel like 90% of people who work at FB are going to resign.
I knew he was a grade A grifter when he asked president Xi to name his daughter. Good on him for getting in shape thoughFuck Zuck, don't fall for his "I'm actually super based" antics. He never would've done this if Harris had won.
He's just realigning himself with the new status quo. Keep in mind he enforced censorship on an industrial scale for a decade.
Era in shambles.
No really, they are.
The funny part is, we've only had this heavy handed censorship for 8 to 10 years tops. More so 2016-2022. Before that, barely any or not nearly as much. I also noticed the past 2 years, especially last year, not a whole lot either, even on Meta platforms.Like Zuck says, this is a tradeoff. Freer speech means more things that are generally offensive or odious.
Social media in it's reactionary form does two things very well. The extremes are where the money is, so no chance of that happening unfortunately.
hahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahaNY Times, can’t make this up

Their topic about this is the usual goldmine of comedy.Era in shambles.
No really, they are.
Same with reddit. Absolute fucking shambles lol.Their topic about this is the usual goldmine of comedy.
They really thought lizard man was their friend or gave a fuck about their feelings![]()
Ok this was fun
You mispelt based.I hate to keep coming back to this, but the real story to me is how dumb he looks. He looks like a 40 year old man cosplaying as a teenager. This should not be normalized. It’s horrifying. I get that he’s always gone for the whole “I’m the CEO of one of the largest companies but also super casual and approachable” look. But this is a step too far. He looks like a complete tool.
i'm all for freedom of speech but X is shit. I used Twitter from 2009 until last year.
Same. For sports and fight announcements and general local traffic notifications and such, literally nothing has changed.I have honestly no idea what issues you guys have with Twitter, generally speaking. You're like the third to mention it in this thread alone. I've been a user since that time around as well and sure, Twitter got worse in some spaces (good luck getting support with anything), but content wise it's more or less the same within my entertainment bubbles.
Even the dreaded "For You" page shows me content that I'm 98% fine with. I don't know, maybe it's the same people who complain about YouTube recommendations? Like obviously, if you interact with a lot of dumb shit, the platform is going to feed you more dumb shit because apparently that's what you're willing to spend time with.
BTT: Glad to see this move by Zuck. I still won't use FB or IG in any meaningful way, but obviously it's good to see these kinda changes.
A valid conspiracy theory that is factually inaccurate is that Covid might have leaked from the Wuhan lab in….oh fuck….
Ok. Let’s move on to hate speech. Thats much easier. Like for example posting hateful comments about Jussie Smollet casting doubt on the fact that he was violently attacked for being…..ah damn.
After Elon Muskov took over, I:I have honestly no idea what issues you guys have with Twitter, generally speaking.
1) Get 3-5 "female" bot subscribers a day
That's what I don't get. Maybe the russians think you're a more interesting target than me and leave me enjoying my korean teenage girl groups in peace on that platform.2) See Ruzzian propaganda all day long
The idea of "fact-checking" on social media is so absurd that I really can't trust anybody who defends it.
Social media is just an extension of society nowadays and so it will be full of good and bad things that have to be dealt with on an individual level.
What's more, what we could observe in these past few years is that only a group of people were targeted. Fact-checking became a tool for the far-left to persecute everybody else.
I didnt realize pizza gate and sand hook conspiracies were started by the far left.
This has been a wide issue affected a wide group of vulnerable people, and its disingenuous to deny that.
Part midlife crisis, part Elon bought Twitter and changed the game.
4 years ago Zuck followed what every social media platform was doing. Anyone the didn’t fall in line with approved language and opinions were silenced or banned. Now he’s distancing himself from that while rebuilding his image.
Because you probably are conservative and at best don't give a flying F about Ukraine at best, root or Putler as your conservative stars at worse. That's what I don't get. Maybe the russians think you're a more interesting target than me and leave me enjoying my korean teenage girl groups in peace on that platform.
Origianl XCom modding community was nuked by discord, for something-something out of the context by a some dude in the HUGE group. That sucks, to put it softly.Just let people say whatever they want online.
I was banned on that other forum for not wishing McConnel death, as he is (was?) Ukraine supporter. So I don't get the "no approved language or they will be silenced" talk.
Because you probably are conservative and at best don't give a flying F about Ukraine at best, root or Putler as your conservative stars at worse.
You should see his insane takes on AMD and Nvidia lolMan you suck at assumptions.
You suck at accusations. (But where is the Ukraine war thread on this rather conservative forum? So many F*cks given that it drowned? Oh, how is that? Ew...)Man you suck at assumptions.
You absolutely had to bring your green butthurt into these thread, didn't you, lol.You should see his insane takes on AMD and Nvidia lol
Yes, there is. It's called objective truth. You can make a case that some subjects are more difficult to moderate than others, especially if they target emotions, culture or large societal changes e.g. trans or gender identity. However there is lots of other information that is not subject to an opinion e.g. global warming. This is not how life should be:There's really no perfect solution for online discourse, unless we start accepting censorship (as actually happened).
