I can't buy anything anymore (FOPO)

AJUMP23

Parody of actual AJUMP23
If you save money and purchase the things you need don't worry about future discounts. Most purchases depreciate, that is the nature of the market.....very few things you purchase will be an asset.

How can you pay for something today without fearing it will be heavily discounted tomorrow?
if youre not getting exactly what you want, then get something thats good enough and already heavily discounted--a "stop-gap" if you will.

i wanted a 4090 but prices were stupid, so i got a heavily discounted 3090.
a want a 5090 but my anus is only so large.

but get off that 1660--its trash.
get your ass a ~$200 open box 3060 or something

I have been on the fence of buy a new gpu for some time now. I only have a 1660 , so even a 3060 sounds like a good deal, the problem is that i keep waiting for something better to show up or for the price to be cut. But then I wanted to wait. Passed on the 4060, because maybe Intel will have a better offer. Then passed on the arc, because I would a new psu, and maybe the 5000 series will be worthy. Now I already abandoned hope for 5000 because of the psyx drop support and now wait for and to get it together.

Same thing with VR. Passed on quest 2 because maybe psvr would get console support, then passed on that because quest 3 sounded so good, and on and on and on.

I keep waiting for better shit to show up, but it seems that never does. It made sense when prices got lower with time, but now everything is rising?

How can you pay for something today without fearing it will be heavily discounted tomorrow?
So my advice would be first to find something you would actually pay full value for and have the ability to do so.

I like a deal just like anyone else, but somethings are actually worth paying full price for. As for GPU's I think something is happening with AMD. They are open to advice from PC influencers about how they should price and all advice I've seen points to these influencers advising to make their GPUs as low as possible to garner marketshare. This could result in a fairly cheap 9070 series GPU. Prices aren't known yet, but if AMD doesn't shoot itself in the foot, it'll be a rare win for DIY PC gamers.

I bought a RX 6700 for $275 two years ago. Sometimes you just have to find the right price at the right moment.

Sounds like your trying to buy a smile.

You purchase things in accordance to the need of doing the job.
I have a 5+ year old GPU running on a 4K monitor and I'm not upgrading any time soon.
Yes I have to tinker with the settings but it does the job absolutely fine in accordance of what I want out of it.

Find something that does the job for you. Get it if you actually want it. Stop holding out for the next best thing.
But if you don't actually need it. why bother? If you can still run the games you want to play then why spunk money away.
The grass isn't greener on the other side. Your grass will be greener if you water it.

edit: TBH GPU's are an absolute rip off these days too. You won't find an amazing deal anytime soon.
