So yesterday a new/sealed copy of SSBB from Amazon arrived. I put it in to my Wii and the game didn't work. They sent me a replacement copy that arrived today and still, SSBB didn't work. I tried a couple of other games (Galaxy 2, DKC4) to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my Wii and those both worked. So why isn't Brawl working?

This happens with Brawl discs a lot for some reason I remember a friend of mine had to turn the wii upside-down for it to read the disc correctly.

Brawl is a dual layered disc I believe and it was one that a lot of Wiis couldn't play. I believe the solution was just sending the system back to Nintendo for them to fix it to play Brawl.

Region issue?

Edit: I like how I'm the only one who doesn't know about the dual layer issue.

Super Smash Bros Brawl is a dual-layer disc while the other games are single-layer. Some Wiis had trouble with dual-layer discs. There are very few other dual-layer discs, so odds are this is the first one you've ever tried.

At one point Nintendo did a free replacement, but it's been a few years now.

Best of luck :)

I have no idea with regards to Galaxy 2 or DKC Returns, but SSBB is dual layer DVD and I believe the Wii requires firmware update. I believe that was the problem when it first came out.

Super Smsh Bros. Brawl is a dual-layer disc and some Wii systems have trouble reading them properly. You could probably send your system to Nintendo to have it fixed or replaced.

Edit: Beaten

Brawl is on a dual-layer disc, and some Wiis can't read those correctly due to contaminated disc drives. You can either sent your Wii in for repairs, or order a disc cleaning kit. Try the latter before the former.

Edit: Ninja'd LIKE A BAWWS

I checked my Wii and it's firmware is the latest.

Have you read through your own thread, dude?
Yes, and that was a conclusion I was drawing to based on how Brawl is dual-layered my Wii must have something wrong to not be able read it properly.
