IGN: What to expect from Xbox in 2025

I mean, I saw Nintendo's and Playstation but not this one

Arguably my most anticipated publisher year

Almost everything in there I'm hyped for, except South of Midnight but that's also a question mark and waiting for impressions.

Playground Games will hit it out of the park with Fable I think. The humour and tongue in cheek seems on point and very british. Playground games will also deliver a graphical masterpiece as they always deliver.

Avowed imo will change a lot of opinions when released, like Indiana Jones. Book February for receipts.

And DOOM, I mean cmon

Playground’s writing is beyond terrible please be real.

I’m currently replaying Forza Horizon 4 and despite the studio and game both being based in England it’s as though the game has been written by aliens under the supervision of Americans.

Might be a good game to play with the sound off.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Indiana Jones has got me real excited for the next iteration of ID Tech in Doom.

Expecting a nice, meaty WRPG with Fable. Hoping the british humor is more hit than miss.

For the love of all that is fuck, Xbox please reinstate the BC program.

Personally more interested in the M first party offer compared to sony offer if it's only ds2 and sushi2 and no other surprises.

fable
new gears
new doom
avowed

Hopefully they are gonna stick the landing with at least 2 of these 4 (and please let fable being one of them)

(yeah i know sony has other minor games other than sushi2 and ds2 but i also didn't counted the probable gamepass fodder like south of midnight for M neither)

Also maybe after Avowed's release, they'll start talking about my next anticipated RPG from Brian Fargo, Clockwork Revolution. Maybe lands holiday 2025... They've kept the lid on that one for a while.

An acceleration of your path to third party.

It's all third parties for me on PC

A big big year with the new Nintendo coming out 🤞😇

Hopefully coincidentally releasing with Metroid Prime 4, it would become my favorite gen debut of all time for me.

At this point, Xbox as a publisher would need to try to fail, given they have Bethesda and Activision under their wing + their first party studios. Having said that and it looks like, so far, the titles mentioned, majority anyway, seem to be from the original first party studios, which is a good sign. Shame that I don't really play those kind of games... will check out Doom though.

The first quarter of 2025 looks pretty meh from what I see. Will be a big year overall though.

Just like the last few.

Eating good, folks.
This year was super solid, but a little uneven month to month. Next year literally is out of control already, and it hasn't even started or had any of the full drops announced. Just January alone already has Sniper Elite, Citizen Sleeper 2 and Eternal Shround. Then Avowed, the next month, Atomfall, South of Midnight, Doom, Fable, Clair Obscura, Replaced, Towerborne, Outer Worlds 2 and a ton more. Nintendo will need a killer app to make me get a Switch 2 in year 1 because I honestly won't ever need to turn the thing on except for 1st party only.

They start off with Avowed

Peoples are underestimating it. Book the receipts on me in 2 months, it'll be good.
3 big games prior to Avowed. Sniper Elite, Citizen Sleeper 2 and Eternal Shroud. It's literally going to be almost impossible to play all this stuff. I haven't even started Call of Duty or Stalker 2 yet ...

Also 3rd parties is stacked in that quarter

Kingdom Come deliverance 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, Civilization VII, Ass creed shadows

I'm not worried about Avowed's quality, I'm worried about a cRPG launching in such a stacked month. It'll be difficult to find peoples who manages to spend their time on a 50+ hours RPG campaign when also there's another one just a few weeks earlier with KCD2.

Then PC has FF7 rebirth in January, TLoU part 2 in April. I mean WTF? WTF. Where am I supposed to find the time. Too many flavors.

I expect Fable to top DF’s 2025 graphics like Indy did.

100%

GTA 6 is the only contender but I don't even expect that in 2025.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
I hope DOOM's amazing. Most of the gameplay shown looked very nice and different from both '16 and Eternal, but the stuff about the mecha and the dragon don't have me very excited tbh.

Still very hyped about it, one of the biggest releases in 2025 for me.

Looking at the reaction to Sony's 2025 lineup, I don't seem to be alone. Death Stranding 1 I still have installed for when I have insomnia. Instant sleep. If doctors could find what makes it so strong to put me to sleep, I wish they would make a pill out of it so I save SSD space. Thanks Kojima. No, I don't believe OD on Xbox will be any interesting. I consider Kojima pretty much a hack. Way too praised for the nonsense he puts on screen. It's my tastes of course, but Death Stranding 2 would need to flip the table on what Death Stranding 1 was to even pick my interest.

Ghost of Yotei is to Ghost of Tsushima what Spider-man Morales was to Spider-man. Sure it'll be good, but that's holding 2025 on its shoulders?

Newbie, look how long I've been on this forum. I've been called a Playstation fanboy, a Nintendo fanboy, a PC fanboy, an Xbox fanboy. In the end I like games and it changes through time who I find has the better lineup, don't care who's name is on the publisher list.

Shame MS fucked up with the Xbox Consoles as the Series X is brilliant, they need to reintroduce the BC program because Tenchu Z

Looks good for gamepass though so far
