Is Stardew Valley the only “cozy” game that doesn’t suck?

this post is very not cozy

Grounded is the cozy game for me. Don’t get me wrong, it can be a very difficult, creepy experience when doing missions and collecting rare stuff but there is something very relaxing with just hanging around your base and finding your inner arhitect.

If you want a good SDV "clone", try Roots of Pacha.

I find a lot of point & click adventures very cozy because you set the pace at wich things happen, not the game. Try the Monkey Island series.

Check out Dorfromantik.

Europa looks pretty neat.

Also second Pioneers of Pagonia and Manor Lords. If you like city/village builders, try out Northgard. On more relaxed difficulty it's reeeally cozy, especially with the season/winter cycles. And you don't have huge armies and micromanagment is very little.

I just hate the term. They're all sims of some description but they've all recently decided to take the "cosy" moniker to appeal to some section of the audience that isn't as big as they think.

I think it makes them be taken less seriously overall, gives a lot of good games a throwaway identity.

Stardew is the only one I can think of that didnt adopt the term, probably because it wasnt a thing when it came out. And its a better game for it.

Eastshade is really great.
I recently finished it second time and it was as nice as the first time.

It's like Skyrim without fights on a beautiful island with interesting characters around.

My definition of cozy has come to mean a game I’m so good at that I can play in bed or on the couch in my underwear in an absolute state of flow.

That game is Hollow Knight currently. It’s become my favorite indie game of all time and I am afraid I might join the Silksong fans waiting for it.

Other cozy games have been VNs and puzzlers.

I might be a sociopath. But who isn’t on GAF, kek?

Infinity Nikki is the cosiest game I ever played and it's really good.
It's very relaxing while also being a really fun game with a good open world to explore.

Have they patched this yet? I downloaded on launch and it was 30fps only on PS5 Pro

Disney Dreamlight Valley is also very cozy if you dont mind Disney characters :D
Shocked you’re the first person to post this.

Dreamlight Valley is one of the best in the genre. It’s gotten a ton of updates and support and activities are more varied than being Tom Nook’s wage slave

Lego Harry Potter, ultimate coziness in my opinion. Hogwarts legacy is pretty cozy. AC2 and Brotherhood being set in Venice and Rome with Jesper Kyds ambient music is cozy, Skyrim. I’m not sure I have the same definition of a cozy game as others do.

Grim Fandango is a cozy game for me, especially in Year 2.
Also Day of The Tentacle.
I love walking around Rubacava and talking with the characters. Obviously the dialogue is all pre-written and I've had all of those conversations more times than I can count. But it feels like catching up with old friends.

That looks interesting. Thanks for mentioning it. Wasn't aware.
