Saadster said:So Japan has some explaining to do, Kingda Ka is at a 90 degree drop, can't get steeper than that. So then what's up?
Goldrusher said:Every year, some park orders one with a drop another degree steeper.
Pretty stupid if you ask me. The towers/drops only get uglier and ever since S&S designed their Screamin' Squirrel ride (with 180° drops), it's pointless to even claim a record, even if that particular ride brakes the cars significantly, it's still gravity powered...

That probably seemed much scarier on the drawingboard.Goldrusher said:

Actually the above is the oldest operating coaster in the world. It's located in Pennsylvania. I've been on it and and it's very charming. It has an that old rickety feeling that's so great. Kennywood near Pittsburgh also has quite a few of those old wooden classics that are so good. I agree there's a certain feeling you get from old wooden coasters that modern coasters can't match.

milanbaros said:Just because its annoying me I'll post again that once you go past vertical it is getting less steep not more. Just because you are upside down doesn't make it more steep.
If 91' is steeper than 90' then 180' would be even steeper which is risdiculous as that is horizontal.
I don't know why its pissing me off seing so many people misunterstand but it is :/
Carry on ignoring me.
ManDudeChild said:Not sure why you said actually....but that that's exactly what I like about the older rides. You don't feel like there's a reason to be thrilled if you can handle high speeds because you're snug in your seat with modern, well maintained (usually) equipment and the odds are better on winning the lottery than actually having some horrible accident.
