I feel like we should just make a Granblue OT now, I think the main goal of this thread was to increase exposure to some of the lesser popular games but at this point I'm pretty sure that everyone who wants to play Granblue is already playing it.
With so little information out there of the English version there aren't really any reasons to wait . Especially since it would also be nice opportunity to create a NeoGAF guild, maybe we could also set up a Discord chat for communication.
Aside from that I've also seen some people who play the game but are probably not even aware of the fact that we're discussing it over here. If we created a real thread some other GAF Granblue players might join the discussion.
Anyway, I'll just make the spark to set everything here in motion. My knowledge of the game is a bit limited but if we work together we can create a thread that's good enough.

What is Granblue Fantasy?]
Granblue Fantasy is Mobile J-RPG developed by Cygames and published by Mobage. Notable staff members include artist Hideo Minaba (Final Fantasy/Bravely Default) and composer Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy).

Gameplay]
Battles are turn based, the main objective is to defeat your enemies with the help of various summons, special attacks and even other players who are battling the same foes in real time!
Your party consists of the main character and a few allies. In order improve you'll have to level and evolve your units. The game even features a job system that allows you to access various classes, each with a unique skillset!
Aside from that, you can also collect rare weapons and summons. All of which will add to the total strength!
Besides the main game, there are also various minigames. You can play Bingo and Poker for example, doing well in those minigames will even give you very special items that you can use in the main game!

Is it pay to win?]
While the strong characters need to be rolled with premium currency, it's far from pay to win. Rates are very fair and Cygames is generous enough that premium currency is giving to everyone more often than not.
Outside of the characters, progress is made by acquiring strong weapons.
None of these are behind any sort of paywall, as long as you'll have a strong pool the game can be completed with almost every party!
Like similar games, Granblue works on a stamina system. The game does provide plenty of items and ways that allow you to gain some extra stamina though (almost all players have huge stockpiles of recovery items). Saving them for a special event is adviced though.
Finally, a few of the strongest characters in the game, the Guild War characters, are all available for free!

Getting Started]
Unfortunately,
the game is only available in the Japanese language as of now/B]. A translation has been announced and is scheduled to be released in March. Players all over the world will share the same servers according to Cygames' statementt.
Do note that Cygames hasn't shared much information about the English version, because of that all of the above should be taken with a grain of salt.
It's also worth mentioning that while the game is intended to be played on mobile, there are ways to play it on your PC. Playing it on PC as your primary platform is strongly recommended as the mobile user experience is rather clunky. Chrome will also allow you to machine-translate the game, it really helps out big time for starting players even if it's not totally accurate.
