i won’t call rogan a grifter per se, the man is already rich as fuck but in the last few years it’s like watching a so-called ‘mid-age boomer’ mentality forming in real time. like, i’m watching a gen x-er turn into his own dad or something. for all his pretense about being liberal about drugs or homosexuality or such, he’s also swung hard right on a lot of issues. his talks, or rather his guests (the interesting ones), have some moments of good listening but joe can be so full of shit sometimes. anytime he goes hard into culture war bs or politics i tune him out. it’s like that scene in indiana jones where he has to step on the right letters or he’ll fall through the floor, you gotta find the good stuff but there are a lot of trapped holes you can fall into listening to the guy. lolTim is painful to listen to. I don't know how anyone can stand having him scream at them what to think. There's too much of that kind of thing out there already. Read for yourself and come to your own conclusions instead of having an insecure bald guy tell you what to think.
And yeah, the clips of Joe lately are cringe as hell. He's becoming a grifter.
I could see how maybe….MAYBE someone could fall into rabbit holes if they‘re incredibly impressionable and have a very narrow world view, but myself being a very left wing and progressive person, I appreciate the hell out of Joe. Sure these people are out there, but i think that narrative greatly underestimates the critical thinking skills of the average person. Plenty of stuff I don’t agree with him on, but I admire how genuine he is. Sometimes he has on really interesting guests where I may learn something, and sometimes it’s just him bullshitting with his friends which can be hilarious, and it’s these episodes where you can’t take things too seriously or literally. I actually kind of enjoy when he has on people I don’t agree with, or that I’ve been conditioned to think are horrible by other sources. I likely still won’t agree with them, but you walk away realizing “oh…they’re just human too”. Brett Weinstein is a great example. Everything I heard about him made him sound like some kind of monster, then seeing him sit down with Joe for three hours I was shocked to find he came across as an incredibly charming and likable guy. Wrong about some stuff? Perhaps? But not malicious. I think we all could benefit at times from viewing people in a more sympathetic light.i won’t call rogan a grifter per se, the man is already rich as fuck but in the last few years it’s like watching a so-called ‘mid-age boomer’ mentality forming in real time. like, i’m watching a gen x-er turn into his own dad or something. for all his pretense about being liberal about drugs or homosexuality or such, he’s also swung hard right on a lot of issues. his talks, or rather his guests (the interesting ones), have some moments of good listening but joe can be so full of shit sometimes. anytime he goes hard into culture war bs or politics i tune him out. it’s like that scene in indiana jones where he has to step on the right letters or he’ll fall through the floor, you gotta find the good stuff but there are a lot of trapped holes you can fall into listening to the guy. lol
I like Brett and Peterson, but I feel like they too smart for their own good asperbergers type dudes that are now getting blind sided by something they completely misunderstoodI could see how maybe….MAYBE someone could fall into rabbit holes if they‘re incredibly impressionable and have a very narrow world view, but myself being a very left wing and progressive person, I appreciate the hell out of Joe. This is meant to be humorous. Can you not see that?dam, new episode has shaffir, shane gillis, and marc normand, i was so excited and joe rogan starts harping on the vaccines 3 seconds in... what happened to you joe
then posting this on instagram...good lord
He's not even a boomer. Your post comes off as triggered.I get it's meant to be humorous, but it comes off as a out of touch boomer complaining about the good old days because he has difficulty understanding the changes going on around him , so it just comes off as sad. I'm sure other out of touch frustrated boomers find it very relatable and humorous though
this is me when ppl ask if I know JR

This is how it used to be to listen to him…except the traps in the floor were Atlantis, ancient aliens, and moon landing conspiracies.i won’t call rogan a grifter per se, the man is already rich as fuck but in the last few years it’s like watching a so-called ‘mid-age boomer’ mentality forming in real time. like, i’m watching a gen x-er turn into his own dad or something. for all his pretense about being liberal about drugs or homosexuality or such, he’s also swung hard right on a lot of issues. his talks, or rather his guests (the interesting ones), have some moments of good listening but joe can be so full of shit sometimes. anytime he goes hard into culture war bs or politics i tune him out. it’s like that scene in indiana jones where he has to step on the right letters or he’ll fall through the floor, you gotta find the good stuff but there are a lot of trapped holes you can fall into listening to the guy. lol
That's a bad thing? I wouldn't mind him getting back to some of that. It's pretty harmless imo. This is how it used to be to listen to him…except the traps in the floor were Atlantis, ancient aliens, and moon landing conspiracies.
those were the 'fun' conspiracies. now its covid, biden, big tech, and more than once he's talked about a new civil war. and in the latest show with the bow hunter, he even nonchalantly said something like 'we need the wolves to start taking these guys out' ie lonewolf gunman killing politicians or activists. i had to double take when i heard that, shit was infuriating. he's also more than once said he's never seen the country as divided and polarized but then he goes hard in almost every show. its like dude, i tune in to hear cool stories and was looking forward to some with the bow hunter but joe always seems to want to get some politics and culture digs in before anything else, even the bow hunter wanted to steer clear at the start but joe kept pushing it. anyway here's hoping for more shows like the bear grease guy, the plastic toxicity lady, the san fransicko writer, and jewel (holy shit she dropped a bomb shell there). This is how it used to be to listen to him…except the traps in the floor were Atlantis, ancient aliens, and moon landing conspiracies.
i don't know about maher but joe is already rich and doesn't need to play the grift game, i think he fully believes what he says, its just him getting older and 'yelling at the kids'.I used to love guys like Joe Rogan and Bill Maher about 10 years ago but maaan they've changed so much. Is it the money? Or is it me?

yeah hes become really partisan and linear about pretty much every issue. he needs to go back to DMT and broaden his mind a bitI've posted in this thread before about how every time California comes up, Joe's mood changes and he sounds super bitter and angry.
In his most recent episode, it came up again and he basically kinda finally let loose. Theo asked him next time he's going to go to the Comedy Store and he said never, and he's never going back to California ever again. Said at the absolute most he would do one show a year there, but he hates the government and he has no plans to ever step foot in the state again.
So I guess those vibes I was picking up on weren't just me lol. Tell us how you really feel, Joe!
That’s your opinion, you can feel that way, but I don’t know what that has to do with what I was referring to specifically. What issue did you mean, COVID?yeah hes become really partisan and linear about pretty much every issue. he needs to go back to DMT and broaden his mind a bit
people like to get their advice from this guy, and while his advice on covid is fine IMO, but what people need to realize is that they are taking advice from someone that deep down still thinks the moon landing was fake and big foot could still be the out there.... he's moved the goal posts so far on these issues that he'll make himself sound like they are most likely not true, but he will be the first to get in everyones face and tell them HE KNEW IT. what a joke
Qualify this. I've seen him say quite the opposite about bigfoot fairly recently. I think you're left wing bias is showing quite a bit in your posts here lately.yeah hes become really partisan and linear about pretty much every issue. he needs to go back to DMT and broaden his mind a bit

I might give this one a listen. Hopefully as is well with JPJordan Peterson will be on in January. Excited he's well enough to start doing this stuff again.
I live in Cali. Freaking bums everywhere. I absolutely despise them. I run em out of my neighborhood all the time and I live in a very nice area. I used to give them change, food, be kind and all of that. Nowadays I'm just done and so is everyone else that lives here. At times it's like the walking dead. That’s your opinion, you can feel that way, but I don’t know what that has to do with what I was referring to specifically. What issue did you mean, COVID?
He’s pissed because since he knows lots of people he knows people whose businesses and lives were ruined from the lockdowns and being that he used to live there, he was exposed to the increasing homelessness everyday when being around town. Frankly, I can’t blame him for being disgusted with what’s been going on in that state. And he’s always said he hated the traffic there and wants no part of it.
I don’t know what broadening his mind would do in terms of wanting to be in California again. If he doesn’t like it there, he doesn’t like it.
And Blair White. I can hear the reeing from all corners of the world now.Joe is on Tim Pool's podcast now. And Alex and Malice. This team up episode wow
Jones was on again? I want to watch but not deal with Spotify.Every time Joe has an appearance with Alex Jones people freak out. This whole "if you have a chat with someone I dislike that makes you evil!" is so low intellect and childish.
No, Tim Pool drove down to Austin in an RV(for some reason) and had a bunch of people on his show, and Jones and Rogan popped in to chat, along with Michael Malice and Blaire White.Jones was on again? I want to watch but not deal with Spotify.
Joe was largely ignored by MSM because he's still considered underground, regardless of his audience size. When CNN pulled him into the arena and slandered him, he obviously took it personally. So would you and I. If you think these are political stances, or that the memes he posts are beyond humor, that's a 'you' problem.bruv I've listened to more jre than anyone rightfully should and while he'll make slight changes or modify his views on what he believes to be true, it's obvious to anybody that has followed Joe long enough what he believes.
agreed. especially since it's mostly a circle jerk about how hard it is what they are doingHe had Tim Pool on the other day and today some Hunter guy. Of all Joe’s guest, I think the hunters are the most boring. I’m just not into that lifestyle at all or find it interesting and I find listening to survivalists so boring. Immediate pass for me whenever he has one on.
duno, I think it's a big weakness from Joe to care that much and just validates CNN in the process. just let CNN dig their own grave... the only reason they obfuscated ivermectin with horse paste is so that we would still be talking about it today. they know what they are doingJoe was largely ignored by MSM because he's still considered underground, regardless of his audience size. Maybe, but Joe has been pretty consistent when people challenge him or he catches people in their own bullshit, though. He's never been afraid to respond, so I can't blame him. I can vividly remember two examples of that, once from a show he did where Brian Dunning said Joe was spreading lies about Glutathione curing hangovers and 9/11 being an inside job (Timed clip below), and the other where he confronted Carlos Mencia for stealing jokes.duno, I think it's a big weakness from Joe to care that much and just validates CNN in the process. just let CNN dig their own grave... the only reason they obfuscated ivermectin with horse paste is so that we would still be talking about it today. they know what they are doing
He as a person isn't very fascinating to me, he's a muppet, but I've enjoyed the format that he's created.

He's an excellent interviewer; that's all he is, and that's all he needs to be, just like Stern before him, and you've acknowledged that.
Stern, however, faded into obscurity because his whole schtick was being politically incorrect during a time when the conservative-right used to own the zeitgeist, using sex, rock & roll, and lewd behavior to get people fired up. When he went to Sirius satellite radio, the aura faded because, 1. He was no longer the public consciousness, and 2. He got old. Ask anyone under 30 who Howard Stern is, and they won't be able to tell you.
Okay, I'll give you that, Artie was fucking hilarious, and I loved the Whack Pack, but I just felt like the "OMG did you hear what Howard said on the radio this morning?" faded away. I can't even imagine what it's like to hear them try to get on Zoom. I also thought it was a bit low for Howard to be one of Donald Trump's best friends, a guest he had on the show routinely, and one he even invited to his wedding, to then just throw him under the bus when he ran for president. A lot of celebrities did that to protect their reputation, but Stern was different because he had a "fuck you" attitude about him. Turns out he was just another NPC.For me anyways, Stern was at his peak (entertainment wise) the moment he hit Sirius and was able to let loose. The artie years are top tier. And to be honest the show was still entertaining to me right up until they stopped showing up in the studio and did everything over zoom. The office drama was great, all the characters were great. Listening to awkwardly paced random banter over zoom calls means all that magic is gone.
The Michael Shermer episodes are good. As are the Dan Carlin episodes. I liked the Sebastian Junger episodes as well. Brian Greene was another good one. Worth checking those out.So...I never listened to Joe Rogan. Never cared about Joe Rogan, though I was obviously aware of who he is and all that. I've been listening to Stern for years and years now, I'd show up on the jobsite and listen to hours of Sternthology but lately I've noticed repeats of episodes, despite literal decades of material they would repeat shit over and over on supposed new Sternthology episodes. The actual live shows they have are dreadful these days cause everyone is on zoom, the show has completely lost that certain zeal that was present when everyone was in the building together.
So someone suggested Joe Rogan. Initially I would search through episodes for guests that I was interested in, political science, ancient history, astronomers and physicists etc. I ran through those and decided to go through the episode list backwards, skipping stuff that didn't interest me, mainly the mma fight things and anything with the comedians. Fucks sake I cant stand those. I prefer having a clear cut theme or objective to the conversation.
After listening to the show for the past 6 months or so herre are a few thoughts I have on Joe Rogan.
For years the overwhelming consensus from the average internet person was that he was alt right or some republican (gasp!) lunatic or some variant of that, but it's quite clear he isn't that at all. Sure he has some spicy takes or doesn't fall in line exactly how so called far leftist people would want everyone to be but who cares, in the end he seems fairly balanced in his ideologies and I respect the fact that he lays it out there and is willing to accept his mistakes and learn.
Having said all that, the guy is an absolute meathead. How anyone could listen and take "advice" from him is ludicrous to me, and to be fair I've heard him on many occasions literally say "don't listen to me, I do what I feel is right for me" so again, respect to him for acknowledging that and wanting to separate himself. In the end it doesn't seem to matter because people are so bizarrely driven to idolize and form a cult of personality around him and will do what they want regardless, though this is no fault of Rogan's at all. Personal responsibility is important, it would be different if this was a chief medical officer or someone in some position of power spouting nonsense to the masses. This is a guy who talks during mma fights and hosted Fear Factor ffs, it's on you if you look to Joe Rogan for any sort of medical or life advice.
To me what I like best about the show is that he is very good at moving a conversation along even when he knows very little about a subject. He can sit for three hours with Neil Degrasse Tyson and basically be a vessel for the guest to play off of instead of just droning on about whatever subject they bring. I've also heard of people complaining about his flip flop opinions but having listened to it in a way that let me hear years and years worth instead of a slow few episodes a week his constantly changing opinions tend to sometimes be from growth as a person, but mainly a way to keep the conversation going. I'd have to come back and edit in specific examples but many times I've heard him in a conversation with someone holding one opinion, then a few episodes later be on the complete opposite side and I understand that he's doing it to play Devil's advocate essentially. To challenge his guests, and I appreciate that.
Essentially I view him as secondary to the guest, I listen to these shows because I'm interested in the topic or the guest that's there, but I can see how listening for years and years would indoctrinate people into this weird cringe cult of personality over him. He as a person isn't very fascinating to me, he's a muppet, but I've enjoyed the format that he's created.
And right now I'm rapidly running out of episodes that interest me and I'm panicking cause where the hell do I go from here?! I need another long-form podcast reminiscent of Joe Rogans format but i have no idea where to look.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
I remember when I discovered Rogan a few years ago and started occasionally listening to his podcasts I immediately thought he was just your average "dude weed lmao" entertainment industry liberal. He'd say shit like "yeah man borders are like such a weird concept it's a thing of the past dude" regularly, be very critical of Trump and conservatism in general etc. The fact so many people think he's some far right figure is testament to how batshit insane the political landscape has become these past few years.
I haven’t listened but the economic collapse has been a possibility for a long time. There is no way fractional reserve banking and government spending continues forever.what a doozy. not sure i agree the sky is falling but at least makes a good case to stay away from social media.
Joe testing his new accent
fractional reserve banking (loans and interest) and government spending (infrastructure and defense) is how we have this modern way of life. those aren’t going away, the problem is when things go off the rails and established processes and institutions are caught up in revolutions that wipe them out instead of incremental changes. even if you do have an economic collapse when things get ‘normal’ banking and spending must return, unless you want to live in an agrarian bartering-based society. i mean that’s the worst case scenario right? a regressed society where one is exploited by forces within and without.I haven’t listened but the economic collapse has been a possibility for a long time. Maybe. I disagree and think you are giving banks more credit than they deserve.fractional reserve banking (loans and interest) and government spending (infrastructure and defense) is how we have this modern way of life. those aren’t going away, the problem is when things go off the rails and established processes and institutions are caught up in revolutions that wipe them out instead of incremental changes. even if you do have an economic collapse when things get ‘normal’ banking and spending must return, unless you want to live in an agrarian bartering-based society. i mean that’s the worst case scenario right? a regressed society where one is exploited by forces within and without.
Hopefully this episode comes to YT. I love Dillon.Tim Dillon on today, probably my favorite Rogan guest ever, I laugh the whole episode, he's so fucking funny.
