Kathleen Kennedy "No Plans For Obi-Wan Season 2"

I think the actress was dealt a bad hand. Imagine you get a gig to work on Star Wars and that's the character you get.
I agree with @March Climber that if you look at the concept it is pretty strong, it was done well in Star Wars Clone Wars for example.
I think it sucks for the actresses that are getting hate for shitty characters they have no control over.
I just don't think she fit the character well, at all. Her acting was not that good and stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the cast. That's not hate to say so.

I have very low expectations for Acting in Star Wars characters. It not a Franchise known for good acting.
The first time we had some was with Andor.

Agreed again. Some of the onus has to be on the performance itself, which was absolutely atrocious. Granted, I only made it 1 1/2 episodes in, but this performance took me out of the show completely in every scene she was in.

Nah, Ewan McGregor was/is pretty damned good.

There is low, and there is why the heck did someone not correct her or direct her proper.

But they can make a new show and call it: "The wacky adventures of young Leia!"

I mean, it was great. You have to see that guy's movie cut, so much better without all that senseless clown filler that muddied the fantastic parts.

If you were me who hasn't seen the show would you recommend the movie cut (I assume this is the Patterson cut) or just skip it all together

The movie cut, most definitely the movie cut. He gives a link where you can download it for free and you can slap it on a flash drive for your TV or watch it on your PC. The subtle changes/touches even to some of the score is fantastic.

You can tell this was supposed to be a movie (which it was) that they fleshed out with so much current year filler into a show.

If I had watched the movie cut only, I would have though it was fantastic on Disney. Wish I only saw this and not the show.

Hold onto your panties
They pretty much treated him the same way they treated Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi. It's almost the exact same shit.

I don't know what it is with Disney and doing the classic heroes dirty.
Disney's intention was to replace older antags (not just Star Wars...see the new Indy movie coming soon) with newer crap they created. The only way to do that would be to either strip older characters like Luke, Han or Obi-Wan of their honor...or just kill them off. Then you'll get original characters Disney created to carry on the legacy. Ain't it grand?

"Anakin is gone.. I am what remains"

The only good thing about this dumpster fire. But still completely unnecessary.

Nah.

Flashbacks with young Hayden and Ewan.

Vader killing a kid.

Vader vs Reva.

Final fight scene.

"Hello there"

Qui Gon confirmation

First epsiode in general was great with Kenobi losing hope.

The jedi tomb with the preserved bodies was cool

There was a lot to like in the show. Leia running from thugs wasn't any more ridiculous than ewoks beating stormtroopers

I liked it a lot, it was the exact content I wanted - continuation of episode 3 with the most interesting characters like Anakin/obi wan. And their fight scene was awesome to see, tbh this show was the entire reason I thought Disney bought Star Wars - originally supposed to be the movie and would’ve been the one I looked forward to most. This was pure nostalgia for everyone who grew up on prequel trilogy. I’m tired of all this side character/npc nonsense like mandolorian/boba fett or whatever.

Bad decision by Disney but not surprised

3 films had him. And he is considered one of the greatest actors of all time.
Sure, I just mentioned him being in the first film because they had said Andor was the first time that the series had good acting. So I was pointing out there has been some since the very start.

Count me in as one who liked it, I thought it was perfectly fine and a second season would be welcome. But it doesn't really matter, they will just make something else.

They should make a Thrawn trilogy based off the Timothy Zahn books, I don't care if it follows thier new timeline at all, they just make them anyhow.
And no changes by Hollywood writers, however many hours it takes to recreate the books.

Season 1 was so underwhelming except for some scenes, so I’m not too sad about these news.
Obi-Wan deserved better and I will never understand why the show looked so cheap when it had a decent budget.

The Ewoks were savages. Like there was only one cute one (besides the babies). Take a good look at the rest in the OG cut, those beady non blinking eyes and weird teeth. Also the end ... those storm trooper helmets. What do you think happened to those stromtroopers. I guess they didnt have a golden droid to save them. A lot of fat Ewoks that night and subsequent weeks.

I've been clamouring for that adaptation for probably decades now, but other than recasting all the actors, that ship has sailed. I'm now waiting for AI generative tools to become mature and powerful enough where fans will just simply make this stuff, and succeed where companies like Disney failed. Old Hollywood will probably begin withering at this point.

Ive made this point over and over but TV shows was the worst thing to happen to Star Wars. And I loved Season 1 of the Mandalorian.

Basically Seasons 1-3/4 of the Mandalorian would have made 2-4 incredible Star Wars big budget movies.

Obi Wan would have made 1 movie.

Boba Fett 1 movie.

Andor Season 1 and 2 probably 1-3 movies.

The one thing I cannot stand is low budget Star Wars with crappy costumes, repeating sets, and bad voice acting.
Add to that most aliens speaking english and being coded Disney channel friendly.

I hate that almost all aliens speak basic without any sort of accent even. It screams low budget.
My god, that twi'lek in The Book of Boba Fett was terrible. A problem I have with tons of modern Disney releases is that the characters in their universes refuse to suspend their disbelief in their own storyline—MCU characters have to approach every situation ironically, the Willow kids point and laugh at every fantasy cliche, and mock the idea of going on a quest—and I feel like having these weird aliens portrayed as boring as possible serves the same end. It's as if to say, ha, you expected us to take this seriously? Aliens? Pfft.

They couldn't portray an alien with any sincerity, they had to make a joke of it. Willow (the show) did the same thing with trolls.

Most new additions to Star Wars canon seem really goofy to me, or they don't feel like they're even meant to fit into the same world as the original trilogy. Even when I do enjoy a new entry, it doesn't feel like I'm actually seeing more of the same universe, so much as I'm seeing something that's legally allowed to call itself Star Wars.

I knew these TV shows werent for me in like the first scenes of Mandalorian episode 1 when he captures that blue skin alien who sounds like a completely typical and average sounding guy from the east coast of the United States. Again Mandalorian season 1 was great, but if it was a Star Wars feature film it would have been even better.

This show really pissed me off. After Mandalorian I was optimistic for greatness. Boba Fett was a disaster and then this secured the kill. You don't screw up Boba Fett and Obi-Wan, with original actors and everything. Almost sequel-trilogy level botched opportunity.

I am still a bitch for Mando season 1 and 2 though so I have to keep paying attention just in case anything that good happens again. But I'm past actually wanting to watch *all* of it to find out for myself.

I skipped the show altogether and only watched the movie cut. It was "watchable"; that's the best I can say about it.

There needed to be more edited out to be honest. There is only one great scene in the entire series, so if you really want to save time just watch the final conversation between Vader and Obi Wan on YouTube. It's like 2 minutes long - skip the fighting part because it's fucking stupid. The fight between them is like the worst combination of braindead cgi superpower Force porn and budget choreography.

Who has been worse, KK or Bonnie Ross at 343?
Kennedy has been a disaster an created terrible content and diluted the property. I put her as worse. Ross doesn't really matter. Halo 5 was a good game. The Halo show was dumb.

Had fun with obi wan because of the actor, good atmosphere. I don’t really think you can put it in the same context as Star Wars. I’m just happy for Star Wars tv shows. How could you be happy there isn’t a second season?

Kennedy ruined Boba Fett, and also ruined this Obi Wan series too....honestly, she should be banned from touching anything Star Wars and Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau should run EVERYTHING Star Wars.

:messenger_tears_of_joy:

The biggest takeaway? That December 2025 Star Wars movie is no more.

Avatar 3 will now be out a year later on December 19, 2025. Avatar 4 moves several years to December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 moves to December 2031. Will we even all still be around?

Oof.

My read on this is that they don't have the cash for all the effects work and need to space these 200+ million dollar effects movies out more. I've a VERY hard time believing a writers strike is affecting Avatar in ANY way, but paying for the 300 mill in effects work definitely does if the current films like TLM (and probably Indy and elemental) aren't gonna cover it.

How does a writers strike NOW affect the release of films with all the principal photography in the bag? Those scripts haven't been hammered out years ago? I don't buy it. Avatar 5 went from like 2027 to 2031!

They are so dumb they wanted a writer to go rewrite them.

I wish Cameron would go make something not Avatar related. He is too good to get bogged down in avatar.

I still think this Rey trilogy is vaporware.
I hope it is and they do something interesting with SW instead of the ball and chain Skywalker has become.
I'm so tired of the same freaking spaceships and the Empire and everything. I wish they would finally just go into the Old Republic era or into the far future. I want to see new spaceships and new characters in a new theme. Of course Star Wars is all about Jedi and Sith so I understand that's not going to be easy to get away from but they could do something original.

I mean they could also go with the Yuuzhan Vong but that's pretty much R-rated Star Wars and I doubt Disney would want to touch such a dark theme.
