Killzone 2

Agreed. There isn't much SP FPS games that focus on an actual warzone anymore. Shooters nowadays are leaning more towards stealth stuff. I dropped BLOPS 6 campaign near the end because it tried to become FEAR.

the only thing bad about killzone 2 is that its to gooooooood please make NEW Killzone
Remake or Remaster Killzone 2 first (with its epic online included and priorised) before possibly fucking up a new Killzone game... And the soul of the game is Helghan! with its dark toxic atmosphere, not the colourful shit tones of 3 and 4! So give us a prequel in Helghan _ a real Killzone 2 sucessor!

The input lag truly made it unplayable for me when I tried it on my PS3 a few months ago. I was an avid Call of Duty player in it's heydey on 7th gen consoles, so I know how smooth an FPS can be, and Killzonw (both 2 and 3) feel downright terrible by competition. It's not just the frame rate either - CoD was at 60fps (generally), and Battlefield was at ~30fps on consoles back in the day, but input lag wasn't a significant issue with those titles.

I know plenty of fans say the controls felt weighty / purposeful etc., but I don't think the input lag made its way to Killzone Shadowfall a few years afterwards. A remastered collection for PS5/PC wouldn't go amiss, the atmosphere and setting of the Killzone games still hold up.

Gunplay and visuals were great. Characters, story, voice acting and some of the level design was questionable. (Rico dialogue and the faux tough guy dropping fbombs ever 5 seconds was incredibly grating)

I wouldn’t mind seeing a return to the universe so long as it had another studio working on it.

A Killzone from Bend (with the help of Bungie or a 3rd party like Respawn) where the Hellghast are invading earth and a ragtag biker militia have to retake strategic military positions.
Come on Rico was hilarious. And then they nerfed him in KZ3 and made him boring. Fuckin Higs!

The input lag was part of the design lmao. It made you feel heavy like you had actual equipment on. I'll never understand complaints like these.

It's not like CoD.

Kz3 also improved it a lot. These days they could easily pull off “weighty” controls without literally have input lag caused by the renderer. A new KZ could be great.

Maybe Bluepoint should remake KZ2 now that they have live service experience

I honestly wouldn’t mind a remake just of Warzone itself

I hated it on PS3 at release, the input lag they described as "weighty" feeling to the shooting was such a bugbear for me. I couldn't stand it. The 3rd was better feeling in that regard, but I also spent more time playing KZ3 with the motion controls.

I'd love to check out KZ2 on PC with proper M+Kb. I know emulation has come quite far in that regard since I last looked at it.

Its still one of my favourite fps of all time and one of the few that I've finished more than once. My only problems with it are the blurry image quality and ~200ms of input lag.

Killzone 2 will always be the defining PS3 game for the sheer confidence and goodwill it started to the problematic console. Excellent visuals, destructible physics, enemy ragdoll and incredible AI since F.E.A.R makes it a truly sublime shooter experiences that somehow made the cover system work so well. And need I mention the multiplayer, it was unbelievable experience l couldn’t stop playing. Once again, we have to resort to emulators for something Sony could’ve asked Bluepoint to do to bring the experience back, remastered.

Im with you brother.
I had thousands of hours on Killzone 2 multiplayer, won every fricking online trophy, including the leaderbords one (dont remember if it was top ten of the week or number One) _ waited untill summer holidays and played it like a total addicte all day long lol. It was focking epic mate! Best gaming days of my life!

The one thing that feels like a missed opportunity with the Killzone franchise, other than the obvious port/remaster collection that's needed, is the fact that they never remade Killzone 1 in the Killzone 2/3 engine.

In terms of campaigns Killzone 1 is probably the best one with the best variety of locations and encounters, but it is held back graphically from the grandiose nature that KZ 2 and 3 share.
This... I had KZ2 separate and got the killzone collection on ps3 for kz1 and 3, and I liked the campaign from the first game, from what I remember. A ps2 game for sure, but damn it would of been great with a remake.

I wish they would remake the trilogy for ps5, and throw KZ mercenary in there. That vita game was top notch!!!
It and killzone 2 where the ones I actually beat and loved every minute of them. KZ2 for the graphics and weighty feeling. Also I actually played multiplayer games back then too.
Mercenary for the customization via contracts.

To me, it was one of the greatest gaming experience of my life.

But no, I don't want no remaster.

This game was sooooo tailor fitted with PS3 hardware and TVs of the era,

that simply turning it to 4K 60 will only make the magic disappear

Not all of us have 4k displays. Still rocking a 1080p set from 2013 and will until it dies. Plays all my old school consoles better than any modern set would.
That being said, hell no, bring on the remake.

Can they do it right? that is yet to be seen. They would probably wokify it somehow.

Id settle for a remaster of the 5 games (yes 5, kZ mercenary was an amazing, underappreciated gem)

The only things I remember about this game are skipping school on launch day to play it and some little turd in my class ratting me out to a teacher.

Oh, and that horrible final boss fight which was a pain in the ass.

Agreed on this. They should somehow keep the weighty feel but make the gameplay feel of aiming better. Maybe taking away the crosshairs would help. It shouldn't feel fast and arcadey, because that's not what KZ is about.
I actually booted it up just a few weeks ago, I always think, "this time the aiming will feel good...I'll just get used to it...." Nah, the aiming is so bad :messenger_loudly_crying:. I then thought that I could just abuse the snap to mechanic that shooters have on consoles, seemed non-existent in KZ2.

Thankfully I have KZ3 and can just play that with the Move controller, though I think the aiming was greatly improved for controller with that game. Been years since I played KZ3.
