Larian saw its 2023 overall revenue increased TWENTY TIMES from 2022, thanks to the runaway success of Baldur's Gate 3

How does this game run on Steam Deck? I was surprised to see it so high on the Steam Deck played charts because I figured it would run like shit

I only played it for a little while on Steam Deck, but it ran ok. It is a slow paced game so that helps quite a bit. Perfectly playable from what I saw.

I wish I found games like BG3 compelling, but I hear it can be exhausting and turn based combat seems....dated?
Well done to the studio of course.

20x revenue from the year before is not a big deal for a AAA gaming studio, especially if it’s a single project studio. It’s why companies do not like the AAA gaming model because there’s dips and valleys in the revenue chart. It’s why it’s described as “volatile” by people the in the industry and the author itself. Companies like Remedy boast that by being a multi project studio so they have layers of revenue that flatten the line on the chart.

This isn’t a knock on the game or studios accomplishments it’s just not a stat worth emphasizing.
But Larian was only a little in the hole in 2022, so they had enough revenue coming in to almost pay the bills, then hit this WINDFALL that presumably can now sustain them for a while decade or more while they work on other things. It's not like they were (in the article at least), racking up giant debts/investor loans they now gotta pay off.

Im really trying to understand. BG3 lets you choose your pronouns it just doesn't use the word 'pronoun' - is it just the word pronoun you have a problem with?

no BG3 lets you choose MALE or FEMALE or NONBINARY/OTHER. ( or at least when it launched)
It's not trying to erase MALE / FEMALE . Wokeism has no MALE or FEMALE only HE/HIM SHE/HER they are trying to erase biology.

Larian isnt triple A. Their games have been a niche and they pretty much boosted the crpg genre to the top like it used to be 20+ years ago. Owlcat games may follow since they are the second best small studio that keeps making quality crpgs.
That's debatable but the main take away is that when you release games years apart you are going to have peaks and valleys and it's not really worth comparing them.

That first part is normal. Revenue for a game you release significantly goes down over time, you start to sell less copies and the main reason you are selling copies is because you are taking in less money per copy sold. If you are comparing revenue from a year you don't release anything to a year you do you are always going to see a "windfall". If you wanted to highlight how much extra money they have now you'd highlight the profit or the cash-on-hand after paying off bonuses not comparing the revenue coming between a time you expect elevated revenue to a time where you expect less revenue.

Can someone write a combo to beat enemies in bg3? I'm noob, I just bought it.
Just really think about your leveling your characters along with the gear you have...it's the most important part.

Commit to your role.

Every class is insanely powerful if built right. Also just experiment with different spells and stuff. Some of the spells that seem useless are some of the most powerful, like Sanctuary for example.

I've been playing a build where I just throw people and items at people and I'm destroying enemies. I use Misty Step get as high as I can and throw things like Heavy Treasure chests at enemies and I carry dead bodies in my inventory. Lol.

My favorite game of this generation and might be my favorite game of all time.

I bought it full price twice (PC and PS5).

Same, although I think it's falling just shy of my "favourite game of all time". Probably in the top 10 though, and it's probably my "best game of all time" (between BG3 and RDR2)

Thief #1 "Hey, look, I lifted this pouch from XXL over there, wanna see whats in it?"

Thief #2 "Oye, that's a bag of holding, there could be ANYTHING in there. Quick let's dump it out over this little hill!"

Thief #1 "By the GODS, its a slaughter house! There are women....kids...dead! What kind of monster has this bag?"

Thief #2 "Eh, they's all orcs and goblins and stuff, nothing of importance!"

Thief #1 "True, true, guess we knows what happened to those 3 villages of hobgoblins across the river...."

this is one of those situations when a studio launches an amazing game, but they will repeat the same success? if i am not wrong they are not going to baldurs gate 4 but they will do a new IP? will be interesting to see if they can create back to back successfull games

It let's you choose a male body and a female identity. I'm still not seeing the difference?

I played through it for 70 hours and enjoyed most of my time with it. But there's nothing compelling me to go back for a replay, or see the bits of the game I didn't. I think the D&D world is just a little dull for me, and the story of the game didn't really grab me. The side quests for the characters were better.
