Safe to assume the bad pitch also played a part in the Mexican player's knee injury? It seemed like his foot was stuck in the grass.

Definitely, but Alanís doesn't seem to be as bad as Garrido. Garrido seems to have shattered every tendon in the knee. He is out for at least a year, and the focus right now should be for him to be able to walk again.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of how the Argentinian league works? It used to have two short tournaments a year like in Mexico but they changed it? Is it back to one championship with 20 teams from August to May? Or did they changed it even more? I'm confused and I cant find a straight answer on the internet its all very confusing.

gather 'round ye children, for a story without sense.

It used to be two short a year until last year. This year it was a long tournamentet that had 30.FUCKING.TEAMS, that means only one game between teams and a special 'derby' date in which all teams played their rivals. Your team doesn't have a rival? well then fuck you, you are tied to whoever is left.

Since until last year there were only 20 teams, 10 were promoted from the second division in the last tournanment. Teams that are in absolutely no condition to be in the first division. Only after half of the tournament had passed they decided that maybe having 30 teams was too much, but the couldn't announce 10 relegations because they got cold feet. So, next year we have a small tournament until june with no relegation, and then a new 1 year long tournament starts with 4 relegations and 2 promotions so we'll lose 2 teams from the first division each year and get to the 22 team tournament in 6.FUCKING.YEARS.

There are elections in 2 weeks in the football association, so this may change. But today, that is the offcial planning.

That is a fucking mess! Is there even a first division league in the world with 30 teams besides AFA?

What's the calendar year for Argentina? Is it regular-ish August-May at least?

The AFA elections have ended. With a 38-38 votes...out of 75. MOTHERFUCKERS. THEY'LL HAVE TO REDO THE ELECTION A MONTH FROM NOW.

I think we are the only ones with such a number. No, it's Mar-Nov. It can get quite hot in the summer so they try to avoid it.
