So talent here is writing? Tons of artists have other people write or co-write for them.
She is a talented entertainer and singer. That is more important for the people listening to the music.
The 'no talent' bullshit is just how you look at it and which part to focus on. Some good song writers can't sing or perform. They are talented in what they do, the writing. Others are talented at the singing and performing.

Actually, I think that song is totally fine past the first verse and her weird spastic screeching in the second verse. Good, even.
Talent for performing and selling a performance of a song is as much talent as anything. Saying she doesn't have a noteworthy voice is wrong, whatever you think of how good or bad it is. She has an instantly identifiable vocal timbre. Whether you like her talent or not is subjective, up for discussion, but calling her (and Britney for that matter) talentless by definition, as some sort of category for people who don't compose music (although in fact she does contribute to the songwriting, see below) is dumb. The talent of performing pop and standing out is exactly why she's become famous.
She's credited on most tracks on the album (real name Robin Fenty). Probably not the main creative force behind her sound in most cases, like more singer songwriterly pop stars like T Swift, Lady Gaga etc, but she's always had writing credits

I'd say they're at the top in their respective industries. I don't see how net worth or any monetary metric shows whether one is more successful or not.

Rihanna is a global music phenom. It does take just a smidge of your own talent and charisma to build your brand to be powerful enough that you could walk into any country in the world and sell out an arena and place a song at the top of their charts.

Eh, I don't like One Direction either. But you're making that time-worn and overly simplistic argument that all the pop machine is about is taking a group of plebs with no redeeming qualities whatsoever and turning them into superstars. That simply doesn't happen, and anyone who actually follows the pop industry (and doesn't just occasionally glance at top 40) knows the amount of work and base level talent even basic pop acts have to have in order to be successful.
One Direction is not my cup of tea, and they were basically "assembled" by Simon Cowell. But hey, they have catchy songs, they work hard, and they "sell themselves." Seriously - the friendship these boys have is almost just as valuable as the music they make to their fans.
