But couldn't that also be said about the video games reeling in millions of dollars that people defend to the death in gaming side? Or all the other male celebrities/athletes/rappers/politicians that get threads on the daily?
No, that's... quite different. No beautiful star, death threats, etc. I can't connect those dots.

You tried to make a point, unfortunately that point was "Waaahhh! Why do people care about pop stars when I don't!?"
You misunderstood. What I meant was, if you're such a fan, then the petty criticisms should roll off your back like water off a duck, so confident are you in her talent. POP Gaf does come across as hilariously defensive of millionaires sometimes, which I think is what sparked the original point.

No death threats? You serious? Have you not been paying attention to gaming in the last year?

It's highly unlikely there will ever be a topic or person everyone on gaf unanimously holds the same opinion on.

I was making the point that the horrid GG movement is not comparable to some people taking potshots at pop stars, that's older than dirt. Anyways I certainly won't speak for everyone here. Do you get my point though? Like, who cares if someone drive-by's Rhianna and takes a shot? You know what you like.

True, which is why exchanges like Floridian's on the front page seems much ado about fucking nothing.

So what's the difference? It doesn't take any more energy for someone to say they like her than it does to say they hate her. I'd like to assume that none of the popgaffers posting in this thread are on the verge of tears over negative comments about Rihanna.

A good match, he can stick his beard on her forehead when he's finished with it.

... I am not overly invested in who some celebrity is ploughing but I have to say, I see nothing to protest here.

I forget how long Rihana has been around and still looking great.

I hope these 2 make a real go of it. Those will be some specially talented kids

Rihanna is one of the most beautiful, successful, and desired women in Hollywood.

Forbes ranked her the 4th most powerful celebrity in the world.

The real question is if Leo could pull any woman in the world, why wouldn't he want Rihanna?
Beauty is not a fact it varies by people so yeah.
And Frobes really should check then again IMO.

Because Rihanna isn't everybody.
Nobody is everybody.
Because she's beautiful, not basic, has immense status, is the BADDEST bitch in the game in looks and talent, can have two guys who she doesn't even claim pressed and fighting each other for nothing while he gets to walk away with a queen. Victoria Secret models aren't cutting it, and they are as cliche as hell.

Rihanna is like chliche as hell as what a popstar nowadays is sooo... idk.
Again the beauty thing.
Basic and baddest bitch in the game.. uh ok. not even know what that means.
And 'Queen' man again these typical popgaf overexaggerations..

Well no point in arguing, I don't like her or her looks. If Leo is happy then good for him.

Can someone explain to me what Rihanna's talents are? I only hear things like; "Wow, she's a bad ass Hollywood bitch", or "She is still so pretty after 10 years", or even "She is so superduper rich and successful, wow". The craziest thing I heard in this thread is; "People look up to her". Why do they look up to her? Becaus she is some bad ass bitch? None of these remarks have got anything to do with her "talents". These talents in my opinion are; self-promotion (not that hard when you think you are the bomb and look well), average singing capabilities, a nice ass which people apparently really love and of course the "gift" to surround yourself with people that make you look good (making albums, writing shit for her). I don't understand the immense hyping of Rihanna at all. She isn't even within 10% range (capability-wise) of performers like Beyonce or Lady Gaga and even Madonna (who is still the Queen of Pop).

The fact that Leo has always surrounded himself with beautiful women is not exactly a newsflash. He will entertain himself with Rihanna before she decides to get some fresh meat .

"I don't like her or her looks."

You guys are so lovely. I would pay top dollar just to see how you yourselves look and act in real life.

is neogaf largely populated by women who tried to be popstars in their youth but flopped hard and are now watching rihanna ascend to being one of the most powerful celebs in the world

because that is the only way i can account for all of this pressed, jealous, bitterness

"we can shit on leo but you can't shit on rihanna, that means you hate strong independent black wymyn *spams obnoxious gifs*"

yeah that's totally one side who's being jealous and bitter

I don't usually post in threads regarding the discussion of the pop monarchy and I don't listen to any pop unless it somehow bleeds into my conscious via shopping centre radio or whatever.

But anyone trying to question Rhianna's and the likes talents and looks really need to wake up. These women are very talented, beautiful, and powerful women and should be applauded for their success. Save your bile for politicians and industry leaders who really deserve it.

I always get good chuckles out of these threads, the bashing of the mainstream, etc. I honestly think people don't know how much hard work goes into maintaining stardom and relevency.

A secret desire to be the one who caresses Leo's potbelly perhaps?

"We can "joke" around with Rihanna and call her a hoe and say she has no talent but can't mention Leo's lack of awards, that means you're a bitter pop fanboy who has no sense of humor. *makes assumptions*"

Works both ways really. Luckily I like both celebrities. I have nothing bad to say about them really.

how is defending rihanna against accusations that she's talentless, ugly, not worthy of an oscarless actor like leonardo dicaprio, etc., indicative of jealousness or bitterness?

A secret desire to be the one who caresses Leo's potbelly perhaps?

perhaps, like the other inexplicable straight male icon drake before him, they're just worried that rihanna will chew him up and spit him out and move on to someone else

Talent does not matter these days. Show some skin, act rich, glamorous and fashionable and you are set. Any one who thinks she makes good music needs to listen to more music.

if it's so easy, how come there's so few a-list musicians compared to a-list actors?

Obviously its not that easy. Doing the bolded is hard. Hardwork in all the wrong places in my opinion though.

I listen to a lot of genres and still think her music is good. Try harder.

Lots of people seem to like Iggy Azalea, Bieber etc.. so more power to you people. It is just my opinion

fucking ew

the fact i have to do this again after retiring from popgaf:

Rihanna can singlehandedly change the fabric of the music industry every time she makes a comeback. From Umbrella to We Found Love to Diamonds to now, FourFiveSeconds. She is constantly setting the trend in music rather than following the trend. She constantly reinvents her persona to fit every era. She constantly improves her live performances as time goes by. She is undisuputably one of the most influential women in music today as well as having established pillars in other industries: to her River Island fashion line, her MAC cosmetic collection, her budding filmography, and her status as recognized fashion icon.

Rihanna will leave a LEGACY. We even have other copycat artists such as Rita Ora trying to swagger jack Rihanna's image. We can see her influence on budding starlets today. Even Ariana Grande is starting to shed her good girl image in favor of being known as a baddie, all because of Rihanna's impact.

Now to address her talent: who else can captivate her audience for a decade without faltering once? She had humble beginnings with Pon de Replay, allowing her room to develop into the gigantic pop phenonmenon she is today. Her vocal timbre is recognizable, her stage presence is only outmatched by Beyoncé, and she has songwriting credits on every album. She has the Midas touch, able to craft hits with ease. She has experimented with every genre as well: rock, dancepop, EDM, R&B, country, etc. Who else can say that?

Only the pop icon of our generation:

Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Bow down.

EDIT: I wish I could DRAG the scalp of every STR8 in here but unfortunately I am in CLASS on MOBILE. So unfortunately your wigs will have to remain intact. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. I WILL humble you

right because being an actor is such a stressful job that requires so much effort and energy

lets be real here, rihanna probably exerts more man-hours on a major tour than leo puts in for an entire year worth of filming

I wouldn't like to see you get angry about something important.

1. Rihanna is cliche? Please point to the many successful Caribbean pop stars in the game right now who is bajan and not the typical Brazilian, white, or Hispanic? Oh wait, none.
2. It's clear you don't like her as your taste decides, but the fact is - Rihanna is a very beautiful women. There is no arguing that even if you dislike her by your own beauty standards. It's not that hard to admit.
3. Baddest Bitch - meaning she can do what she wants when ever she wants without asking. Simple.
4. It astounds me how serious you and others get just because someone is labeled a "queen" as if it has some sort of legal definition. I don't see this in threads that praise any other superstars, game designers, Gabe Newell or the POTUS, but God forbid it's used to figuratively describe a powerful women. (who happens to be a pop star as if they can't be worth of such titles.. Ugh)

Good for him indeed.
