Wastelands

More interesting than the last one, Until Its Gone. Mikes bit in this is pretty cool, the rest is about what you would expect for better or worse.

Another new single, Rebellion

I like this one, Chester's part and all.

---

Its weird, as a kid I definitely loved LP. I still can really enjoy Reanimation, MtM and ATS.. but I think I just like their music for nostalgia's sake. Everything else I listen to is radically different, so who knows haha.

Its pretty good.

As much I love old LP. There are some great new LP songs that can easily stand alongside their old songs. Like this one , Waiting for the End and Castle of Glass

You take that back! Minutes to Midnight was terrible when looking at their previous 2 studio albums plus reanimation. I thought ATS was a better effort, but I kind of didn't really like their last album.

As someone in later HS when HT and Meteora came out, I loved those 2 albums.

Honestly, I think Chester has ran his course. LP should be nothing but Mike singing and rapping.

while I don't mind the idea of mike singing more, especially given work he has done in stuff like castle of glass Chester is still a main part of the sound of LP to me, and I would rather they not give Mike more time to rap... as in general I just tolerate the rapping with linkin park (that's not to say I don't enjoy the wrapping in some songs, but most of the songs with heavy rapping I don't listen to much)

I didn't like "Until it's gone", and after listening to this one, I'm kinda worried for the album. I'm getting some kind of macho feel from these new tracks, idk how to describe it.

Snitch ass Linkin Park...

Sublime With Rome had their weed confiscated by cops on Saturday, but the incredible part of the story is how Linkin Park ratted them out!
Apparently the Sublime crew got a bit too high behind the scenes of Tucson's KMFA Day Concert, and the stench of marijuana smoke was really pissing off the folks from LP's camp.
Did they ask them to cut back on the toking? Nope, they CALLED THE COPS!
Police confiscated Sublime With Rome's unguarded stash of grass backstage and, according to police reports, it was a Linkin Park tip that led them there!!!
Wow!! That's crazy!! The dudes from Linkin Park Narc, it seems, offered to replenish the taken stash of drugs, but SWR is not having it!!
Rome went so far as to call the band "snitches" via Twitter.

im 50/50 on this album being good. I dont know i liked ATS and Living Things just as much as their first 2 albums.

but im not really liking the 3 songs they put out from the hunting party.

Until its Gone sounds way to generic and boring it just doesnt go anywhere.
And Chester kinda sucks on Wastelands. These lyrics are just sucking :(. They were way better in ATS and Living Things.

Mike apparently threw out burnt cd copies of the single at their last show, that cracks me up. They should have gone full NIN and hid it in the bathroom.

What I don't get is they really do some cool stuff live, and have a ton of energy in their performances. They tend to swap up the songs with new samples, intros and outros that sound a lot better than the studio versions. I would really like too see their approach to concerts applied to a studio album.

For instance, this is actually pretty good IMO - Wretches and Kings/Skin to Bone/Remember the Name medley - Live @ Rock In Rio 2014

They started to really go downhill once Rick Ruben got his hands on them. When they are left to their own devices they do a lot of cool things. They're pretty fun live!

I dunno if thats fair at all as their mixing definitely improved, and ATS was a fairly unique album.

They really should have retired after Hybrid Theory.

The hell? Meteora and especially Reanimation are amazing albums, even though I agree that Hybrid Theory is their best.

Song isn't bad, but nothing extraordinary either. I'm starting to agree that LP would be better off without Chester. Either that or Shinoda going solo again.

Not a fan of this yet. Went back and listened to Living Things today though and forgot how much I enjoyed it.

LP gets a lot of shit for their newer stuff but I don't think it's half bad.

It's just good.

So far we got a great song, a mediocre one, and a "just good" one.

I still have faith for the rest of the album but nothing has blown me away yet.

Wait, what's the great song? Been out of the loop with the cycle on this new album.

After these 3 tracks, even though the lyrics seem to be written by a 16-year old, I'm very excited for the new album!

Wastelands is garbage. Chester's part totally ruins it.

They're 0/3 for me on the stuff they've put out for this album. Really disappointed, because I've genuinely enjoyed each and every one of their previous efforts (even Minutes to Midnight)

edit 1: rebellion zzzzzzzzz 0/4

edit 2:

god ddaaaaaaammmnnnnnnn. the last live show of theirs I went to was early on in the Living Things tour, and they only played like 3-4 songs off the new album. It was such bullshit. Their setlists need to be a bit more consistent with new material. That video was fuckin awesomeeeee. Skin to Bone owns.

I feel like you may like Rebellion. Nvm. :lol

I agree that their live shows need to do more with the new stuff. For what its worth, they have a damn good setlist right now, but it makes me all the more disappointed with the new tracks.

Yeah, I remember looking at the setlists for the later shows in the LT tour, and they looked really awesome, which is why I was so disappointed that my show was so early in the tour. I just figure if all people wanna hear is older material, they should have gone to an earlier show, or just listen to the old album ;P

I'm gonna give the rest of this album a shot, but my faith is wavering..
