So much negativity here:messenger_sad_relieved:

Fuckin' bought as soon as it became available (which is odd, cuz Jusant I can't buy in RU region, go figure) cuz I don't want for Don't Nod to disappear and the price is great.

I've played about an hour so far. I can't say it's been particularly woke, but boy does it have the world's most awkward dialogue. It's like characters are solving equations before uttering each word.

Why are characters from 1995 acting, talking, sounding and looking like teenagers from 2015. I couldnt imagine being stuck in a game with these characters and having to listen to them.

It's as if nobody involved with this game was even around in 1995. Nothing about it, from what I've seen, feels like 1995 to me.

Was looking forward to it but this game runs at a "locked" 30fps, with stutters and massive framerate issues. On PS5 PRO the game is also 30fps. I will NOT play 30fps games in 2025 on my high end OLED TV.

This shit is sad. Happy I didn't buy this unoptimized piece of shit. And they didn't have to lock it at 30 because their previous games still look great at 60 on current gen. I fucking hate it so much when they downgrade the performance in "favor" of more details.

Don't these developers have eyes or OLED screens at home? 30fps on OLED is the worst thing ever. Who even makes these retarded decisions?

Game is running at 30fps with stutters on PS5 Pro, what a shit show. Literally unplayable right now. I'll wait for a 60fps patch.

Played the first 2 hours on my PS5 Pro, and I quite dig the vibes the game is giving off -- it kind of reminds me of the old LiS 1 & 2 Don't Nod (yes, I know they're the same devs). What immediately caught my eye was the choice to have the current day scenes played in first person while the '95 scenes are in third person. Oh and the dialogue can be pretty hilarious too:

Will say that the game def caught my interest, so I'm going to play some more tomorrow.

I want to get it for my Series X and play it, but I'm afraid by the time Tape 2 comes out, this will be PS5 Pro Enhanced.

I think it plays fine with the 30 fps lock, as the image quality is much more important than the game running at 60 fps in these narrative driven adventure titles (at least that has always been the case for me).

The motion blur is implemented well, so the 30 fps doesn't feel that bad even when playing on an OLED TV (I have a Samsung QD OLED and playing some of these 30 fps games can be jarring, but not this one). There is some stutter during camera cuts though, so beware of that.

Anyway, maybe you're right, and the game might receive a Pro patch in April when Tape 2 launches and the game is deemed complete.

Every 30fps game has issues on OLED. It's just a matter of how the frames are being output. Motion blur hides a bit but it's not nice for the eyes.

30fps on OLED should be a punishable offense. Like legally.

I'm aware, but like I said the game plays fine enough for me.

The dynamic / real time dialogue seems pretty interesting and kinda novel in this type of game

I liked LiS. I didn't finish LiS2 cause it just got kinda boring. LiS3 was somehow even worse. I kinda stopped caring for their games. Vampyr was alright though.

while I like the fact that this developer is willing to try different things, very little of what they create appeals to me. finished remember me & life is strange, but that's basically been it (passed on the lis sequels, & couldn't get into either vampyr or banishers)...

Well, I did my part. Hopefully they'll at least finish this game and someone will pick them up to let them continue to make new games - they're one of the best at what they do.

The visual upgrade from the first two LIS games is effin' massive! There's some junk in terms of animations and texture clipping here and there, the model of the cat is not that great but it is also not a $200-300 mil game so it is to be expected. From what I've played last evening (roughly 2 hrs) I liked it a lot - vibe, atmosphere, visuals, soundtrack, visual design, level of detail are all great and just in general I likew what I've seen and played so far. Can't wait to play more.

Ah, I wish they'd release the game closer to the weekend, but oh well, nothing we can do about that.

After the SoP preview I was hyped to play this with my daughter, I didn't realize it was rated M, the cursing is fine but the "gore, nudity, suggestive themes, use of drugs and alcohol" is a bummer. I thought this was gonna be a teenie-bopper spooky adventure game. I'll give it a spin and decide if it's appropriate or not.

I don’t think I’ve ever played a game from Dont Nod, until this last week when my wife decided to give Life is Strange a try. She wound up liking the game so much she got the platinum, and I was actually surprised by how much I was getting into the story. We were even taking turns playing it at certain points that were too scary for her. The rewind mechanic was very fun to play around with.

On the surface I had just wrote it off in the past as some teen coming-of-age story, but after seeing the whole game, I was pleasantly surprised with how dark the story gets. Even quite mature and gruesome in some parts.

So now I wound up purchasing the Life is Strange remastered collection since it’s on sale right now and my wife and I are looking forward to playing the prequel, Before the Storm.

Now I’m strongly considering upgrading my PS+ temporarily from essential to extra because I found out Life is Strange 2, True Colors, and now this Lost Tapes is all on there.

Idk, I guess I kinda became a fan of the studio recently? I’d put Life is Strange above many of the games Supermassive have put out personally.

I played all Life is Strange games and I loved them all. But I'm not feeling this one at all. DeckNine seems to be handling Life is Strange series much better than DontNod. Both True Colors and Double Exposure had amazing graphics and perfect lip sync. Lost Records is a janky mess though. Maybe if they add a 60fps patch down the road I might come back.

Anyone with any musical instinct would know Blooming Rage is a much better band name than Bloom & Rage. Rookie stuff really.

Cant believe they didn't go with Bloomin' Onion for that juicy marketing deal.

I`ll never understand why they pivoted so hard for these types of games, rather than building on a potential Vampyr 2

Different teams I think. The Vampyr guys recently made the serviceable flop Banishers

How the fuck is this 30 fps, but then you've got games like Spider Man 2 or Ragnarok that easily hit 60 fps with dramatically better graphics? Shit, SM2 has fucking ray tracing at 60 fps.
I fully expect this game to flop and then DontNod will be forced to do significant layoffs.
Game peaked at about 2,000 players on Steam launch day. Oof.

TBH both run custom engines (originally) built for getting as much as possible out of a fixed hardware target. Having said that and played this for a few hours last night (as it is on PS+ Extra), there's no reason for this to be 30fps on current gen. Lower the resolution, use DRS/FSR/whatnot. And yes, it looks very rough in motion on an OLED.
