9 eps in and I'm still trying to figure out why Mirage has Protodevilin ears. Watching M7 did not help me at all. And if she's the Gamlin of the bunch then they better spend some actual time with her. The best part of M7 was seeing Gamlin loosen the fuck up and hit the brodom stratosphere. Messer really has a thing for Kaname and Walkure, you chicks are perverted. They catch Hayate and Mirage outside together once and start the rumor mill...I miss the SDF 1 and M7 bridge bunnies. Lol at Freyja getting jealous of best girl Mirage. I guess I should thank god the love triangle here isn't the center focus like it was in Frontier...though god damn I loved Sheryl. What are the odds of getting another Sheryl tier character again?
Not that there is any precedent for this but as entertaining as Delta is so far, I wonder if Kawamori will go full stupid and make Mikumo the ultimate villain 60% of the way in at like episode 16 or 17 or something.
Mikumo's intentions, actions, and her atmosphere is just really interesting to me to see how her character plays out. Especially if she really does turn out to be a third party character.
I will laugh at Kawamori going full Tomino if that is the case. and I will love it.

so I started watching this show since I have loved macross/robotech (robotech got me into anime big time from my childhood and kicked off my obsession with mechs). At the moment I am on the fence but I always give shows like 5 episodes to get me hooked. The first episode had me very weary till the last like 4-5 minutes.

No sadly he's not a shapeshifter. I honestly just think the body proportions of some of the characters to be all kinds of weird. yeah I enjoyed both. I think I like frontier way more than I expected. Totally loved the soundtrack to frontier to the point that I listen to it from time to time(I dont listen to music from anime ever with this exception)

I still have no idea why Frontier gets such a bad rap. And yes the soundtrack is ace, Sheryl and Ranka got some of the best songs. I still like it more than the Delta soundtrack.

I'm watching Macross Frontier the False Songstress and Sheryl throws the best concerts, the best fucking concerts. Looks like Walkure got the jet skirt idea from Sheryl of all people. This shit is legit flipped with Brera protecting Sheryl. Man if they cut Sheryl and the school chasing her panties I'll be so pissed. Wait did Ozma name a battle formation after a Firebomber song? Totsugeki Love Heart.

Reina is so hilariously perverted. Hayate and Mirage are the shittiest fucking Macross pilots I've ever god damn seen so far. Motherfucker can't even fucking god damn retire and leave these two fucking Anbu black ops tier pilots in charge. Yeah, Keith has super-human abilities, like when he dodged bullets in ep. 8 and the other things his race has showed, plus his runes let him get a song boost/ride the wind easily, and he has 2 or more drones to boost his Valk and cover him.

Also, I hate the villains in this show and their shitty plot armor. It's a terrible plot device and I'd rather the villains just get clean kills if they're supposed to be villains, or have the show stop pretending these guys are villains and have them do their inevitable face turn already.

Every lead up to the final scene and the entire fight sequence and song sequence was just done so well. Contrast to Michael's jobber death.

Next week cannot come soon enough. I want to see the repercussions, how this ties into what Arad and Earnest were discussing earlier in the episode.
Also need more Mikumo expansion.
It's a motif in this series that references varying levels in fold sensitivity and how people are becoming able to feel the atmosphere and "wind" around them. Messer's ability to feel and ride the wind prior to his final moments reinforces the idea that life in the Macross universe is slowly becoming more attuned to the Fold. Some more quickly and naturally than others.
We're probably gonna get some fucking Newtype theory shit from Mikumo next episode since she's been researching this shit via Messer's blood samples and ruin studies.
At least that's the sentiment and joke within Maclog and JP Macross at the moment. That the whole wind motif is a sign of further lifeform evolution in being able sense their environments and surroundings and eventually to feel and understand each other, similar to Newtypes.

So is Delta like officially the worst Macross squadron now? I don't remember any squadron being THAT dependent on one pilot ever. When Roy died Hikaru stepped the fuck up and carried that shit, plus he had Max to help his ass out. Diamond Force was a bit shit, but at the same time the Protodevilin were pretty good too, but still. SMS was fucking legit though. Ozma, Alto and Michael could carry their own weight. Only weak link was Luca, Delta is a like a squadron full of Luca's, it's so sad man.

Yeah the squads sucks comparitively really really bad. Messer was the only competant pilot soldier and basically everything else. Everyone else in that squadron sucks at their jobs and unfortunately for them the enemy has a Messer level or rather better pilot in their ranks.
Mirage is the biggest dissapointment, the MC is new so even if he sucks for a loooong looong time, it wouldn't exactly be strange (since the only reason he'd even make super fast development would be because he's the MC). Mirage is a veteran pilot who has fought in a war before and she sucks as much as he does, hell she probably sucks more. If she was at least somewhere near Messer level, he may not have had to die or engage at all.

Mirage is the grand daughter of Max and fucking Miria fucking god damn Jenius. If those two are alive they must be quite disappointed. Mylene went into battle constantly piloting a VF 11 Thunderbolt, the fucking jobber Valkyrie and used a newfangled electric guitar piloting layout and came back alive and she was 15, she knew her shit. Her parents kept her out of training and Mylene still knew her shit. It feels like Mirage is there through nepotism more than actual skill. It's like her initials "Must Fucking Job."
They're all jobbers. Team full of Ben Dixons and Physica's.
Anybody know if it's possible for Fire Bomber to stand in for Walkure? Those fools need an anima spiritia buff, that shit fixed everything. Or maybe Walkure could sing Planet Dance. I mean seriously Deta Squad needs all the help they can get.
