Well, Roid clearly doesn't agree with the idea of them overworking Heinz, even moreso now with the third party becoming involved and bringing tech that exhausts him even more. I can see him trying to kidnap Heinz, for his safety, and/or getting refuge with Walkure.

Messer confirmed jobber, being buffed by inspiration, the woman he loved and song and still died to the villain who wasn't being buffed at the time.
Didn't you see Keith's rune boner? He was self-buffed to the extreme due to how excited he was that Messer got so good.

Since chairman is calling them "rune boners" is it safe to say Freyja pretty much just has a clitoris strapped to her head? She got awfully offended when Hayate touched her there.

nooooooooooooooo... well at least chuck is probably safe, who was my first choice to croak it. Would have liked a few more episodes of messers sexy sexy voice though.

Which one is Chuck? Most of these guys that aren't Freyja, Hayate, Mirage, Mikumo and now Reina and Kaname just blend into one amorphous blob for me.

I had to find him on wikipedia. The hell does he even do? I at least remember seeing the green cat dude thing, but never chuck. And Chuck Mustang, that's a name fit for a Gundam show.

He's the happy one with a restaurant and loving family aka the easier one to kill off for cheap emotional reaction!

Kaname Buccaneer is the best delta name, that or Earnest Johnson which sounds a bit like a porn name.

Still bummed about messer. Dude was the only ons with true skills.

I guess mikumo lives in the damm ocean. Wtf is she.

He owns the place where those damn catfish things hang out? I actually like Kaname and Reina is such a perv...Is Earnest Johnson that dude with the brown jacket? It's really hard for me to pick people out cause they rarely say things or interact and stuff. I mean I remember most of the Frontier cast which is probably god damn blasphemy or something but Delta? Nope. Took me till ep 8 to even remember Reina's name and I think she's crushing on that other chick with the red hair.

Mikumo's a Protodevilin, just wait. Probably Basara's and Sivil's kid.

Mirage must be the granddaughter through the adopted child of the Jenius family. It's the most logical explanation.
That, or talent skipped a generation, as much as I hate to say that, because I do still like her anyway
(even though I still switched to #TeamFreya early on in the series)
.

Messer...feels bad, man.

More or less. She didn't like him just staring at it before that, either.

I like Mirage too, but they just don't do enough with her. She needs to go back home and get a piloting crash course already.

Pretty much. They're certainly not going to be good enough to beat the Aerial Knights at this rate, and even when Hayate gets buffed by Freyja's singing in particular, he manages it to squander it by not killing dudes when he needs to.

Yeah I think Alto moved beyond the not killing dudes trope faster than this...did Hikaru even ever give a shit about that? I don't remember. Hikaru got shot down a bunch, but when Roy died the fucking gloves came off. He stepped up beautifully, I just can't see either Hayate or Mirage stepping up to the plate proper yet. I don't know what's blocking Mirage cause damn, she's just not where she should be. How old would Miria be? 90 at this point? Why isn't she and or Max teaching at the academy?

Max will return to beat some ass.

I would fucking love a badass, 90 year old Max coming back and taking out the lot.

I don't mind Haya-Haya too much, can't really fault him for not wanting to kill and unlike alto he's not fighting against giant insects.

All he wants to do is dance, but he needs a gun to keep himself from harm.

"This is how it's done kids." Max was a great captain, kind of didn't balance his home life right, but he got that shit back on track...I miss Max, that family was too bad ass.

I honestly think by the end Alto just stopped caring since he and Ozma fought pretty god damn hard. I don't think he would've killed a friend, but anybody else would've been fair game.

I'm really enjoying Delta more than Frontier. I didn't think I would like it, but it's sitting nicely behind the original.

Why is it just me with the opposite reaction? I like Delta, just like Frontier more. Maybe it's because because SMS wasn't an elite jobber squad, Alto could be easily poked fun of and Sheryl da best. Is it because nobody liked the Vajra?

Nahh it's not the Vajra. I haven't pinpointed it yet but i definitely like delta a lot more. Maybe its because im into the idol thing. I did blow more money than I ever expected on iap for Love live. Also hayate is a better mc than alto for me.

I guess it's because Alto's a bit of a Shinji Ikari. Probably just me that doesn't hate him.

It's funny, I liked Frontier as a whole more than the currently aired episodes of Delta. The Windamere are singlehandedly ruining the show for me. I hate the show any time any of them show up on screen.

I honestly like the character interactions a lot more in Frontier than Delta. Shit I think even Michael and Klan get along better than most of the Delta cast barring Reina with Makina and Freyja with Hayate. I honestly want more of Hayate and Mirage, but they don't spend that much time together. I mean Hayate seems to get along with her, but Mirage is just being a typical Tsundere if I have the dere right.

This isn't Gundam Seed. I don't think Kawamori wants to explain the subterfuge of that messy ass cockpit. Walkure better learn some fucking Fire Bomber songs in the mean time. They're music isn't getting the squad hype enough.

He will come back and we'll all be praising church of the Messer.

I'm not convinced Messer's quite done yet. We don't get to see inside his cockpit, his Valkyrie hasn't exploded, and this wouldn't be the first time Macross did a death fakeout. With no other rival for the White Knight (who just lost a sword fight of his own as a bad omen), maybe he'll get to pull a Guld to start off the next episode.

Oh thank god, I hated Michael's death and how it left Klan alone. I guess I was using a bad example since people say he's the Roy and the only Roy to actually eat his pineapple dessert has been Ozma.

I might still be wrong. I only watched the movies once when they came out.

That's the thing, I think I like the songs in Delta better and I like the non-shitty-Windamere parts just fine. It's just that the Windamere parts are so BAD that they negate anything I enjoy about the show.

Speaking of, Michael's death is so much better than Messer's death.

Not even halfway in Delta still takes a shit on Frontier TV in terms of pacing and development and basically everything outside of May'n music. Will determine how much better it is than Macross films within the next few episodes.

No amount of Var, fold wave, Newtype, steroid shit that Messer was on is going to explain him surviving.

Messer uses his Var infection, amplified by the effects of Kaname's song to speed up his transformation into a newtype through the chemical reaction caused by Kagame's fold effects resonating with the fold bacteria present in his Var symptoms.

I don't mind the CGI as much anymore.

I actually liked Frontiers music better myself, there's less electronic weirdness going on and Kanno put in some serious work for the Frontier music. I'm warming up to the music just fine in Delta though. I felt so bad for Michael and Klan. When they showed that picture of Klan in Michaels cockpit that shit just hurt. He loved her,but he just kept toying with her and you could tell she loved the guy too. I actually like how their relationship was used to show Alto and Sheryl to stop fucking around and get serious already cause Klan didn't want the same thing to happen to them.

I think I'm just in love with Ikenai Borderline more than anything else. lol

I guess for me though, I felt nothing when Messer died. I was probably more annoyed that the show didn't even let the villain get a clean kill by showing how he's the superior pilot, instead relying on a bullshit deus ex machina. It was just terrible.

Well when you have one guy actually putting in work he's bound to get killed at some point. Messer's death is a lesson learned for the idiots of Delta Platoon. Stop fucking up or get turned into grape jelly.

When the bad guys have mindless drones who sacrifice themselves like Kamikaze pilots, then what's the point of actually learning to get better? How do you counter that?

Teamwork and tactics? You got me. No sense just flying around waiting for a Walkure buff to kick in though cause that's not going to work anymore either.

Any time any of the villains are in danger, I just have to assume that some faceless, nameless pilot will just rush in and suicide himself. Because that's the established tactic from this latest episode. It's silly.

Also, the heroes are "too good" to actually kill anyone, which basically gives the villains another layer of plot armor.

Yeah that's pretty stupid. Hayate should've never started that and Mirage should've never followed him and Messer should've Bright slapped the both of them for doing it. You can repair a plane easily, but you can't replace the pilot with a like for like part. If one of the Aerial Knights died in a previous battle than it would've made their jobs easier later by having less skilled knights to fight. Makes you wonder what they were actually trained for. Delta Platoon is actually quite sloppy. Yeah sure in other shows they eventually resort to damage the aircraft tactics, but it took awhile. Like Miria and Max getting married and Basara was never about that life, but these Windamereans want people dead.

Those drones are piloted? I thought they were unmanned, given that there are several attached to each Draken, and that Hayate is completely willing to shoot them down.

I just assumed they were, because if they're just automated drones, it makes it even worse since there's literally no reason why any of the villains should get hit when these things can swoop in at any time with absolutely no cost to the Windamere..

It would have at least been interesting if it was the red haired guy who killed Messer, then at least Hayate could feel like shit for a few episodes when he realizes that he's the reason why Messer died.

That just comes down to Keith's skill as a pilot, doesn't it? All of the other Aerial Knights deployed their drones immediately, and Messer took out all of them at once, but Keith only sent it out right before the final head-to-head with Messer, so that it could give him an opening to get the cockpit shot.

I honestly feel less critical of Delta Squad's failings in general because they are essentially just a security force whose main job was dealing with rampaging Var riots, up against a squadron of superhuman ace pilots. I've only watched from SDF and currently 7, but, at least in those, it was usually just them blowing through ranks of nameless mooks for most battles. I can wait for underdogs to get better, in this case.

Also, to be fair, pretty sure Keith used the drones in a previous battle, so Messer would know about them. They were both fighting, knowing the capabilities of the other, and both had that fold wave buff. Keith won fair and square, as far as I'm concerned.

But that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Though I do like Delta up until this point, it does feel like it's still a ways off from picking up in order to realize its potential, and I would agree in considering Frontier the better show so far.

Kind of feels like we've been going in circles in how Delta Squadron has been squaring off with the Aerial Knights so far, and the love triangle aspect seems fairly lukewarm compared to where Frontier was by now in spite of being nearly halfway through the series.
