"Most of the game is so good and I had so much fun, but this side stuff for completionists isn't as good so I'm going to dock a whooping 20% of the score"

"The game has a lot of problems, maybe a bit too dated, bugs, and it can be tedious and uninteresting for large amounts, so I'm going to have to knock it down 20%"

Wtf is this for real or did you type this into CharGPT:

"Write a satirical and biased review from Polygon of Spider-Man 2 that only focuses on woke pandering social issues in a friggin superhero game"

:messenger_tears_of_joy:
Yeah it's real. Thankfully I don't think Polygon gives scores anyway. I went to check their review of the ps4 one and that review is still TBD score anyway.

91 metacritic after 97 reviews now. I think it's locked in place. Unless the inevitable '5' from EDGE/Polygon is enough to sway it, but I doubt they'll lose 2 points from them.

Unsurprising.

Anyone seriously complaining that it's "short" because they wanted to find 100 backpacks needs to give their head a wobble. It's 2023. Stop ordering the buffet.

91, that's very impressive and higher than I expected. Not that I think Metacritic averages are the be-all, end-all, but sometimes they can persuade me to give a second look at a game I figured I'd give a pass -- as is the case here. I'm suffering from a bit of Spider-Man fatigue at the moment, so I was going to pass on Spidey 2, but I'm pleasantly surprised that it is getting such high praise from critics.

I'm proudly eating crow for predicting this to be between 85-90 MC. Holy shit. Insomniac went to town. Congrats, you absolute madlads!

I can't imagine people here predicted this to be in the 70's, or did you "WANT" this to be in the 70's because plastic box warz? ☠️☠️☠️

The score will get lower with more reviews added

I mean we're at 97 reviews. We're at the point where individual reviews have a lot less impact on the score. It already has more reviews than Starfield because they put out the game earlier and it's a shorter game.

Probably see about 20-40 more reviews and some trolling, but I think it probably stays above a 90 at this point.

Seems like they point at some repetitive-ness. Seems odd to blast this one over that now when they kind of all have the same feel in the open world.
In this case, I take that particular criticism with a grain of salt.
I think it is more than valid. Despite enjoying the first game, the open world activities aspect really held it back for me personally. I really didn't enjoy the side mission checklist of random activities. I didn't feel as engaged with the world. So I understand why the score was reduced as these activities didn't change much in the current game. That was my one worry with this game and it looks like I was right. I still think it is a great game, but I'm in no hurry to play.

Sony paid less than $250M for this studio.

They're output is absurd. This is their third major game since the generation started and all of their games have been great.

I'm expecting a lowish review from Polygon. This is their current in progress review on Metacritic:

"There are hints of greater thematic aspirations within Spider-Man 2. Questions about mass incarceration, recidivism, and reintegration into society for formerly incarcerated people; worries about the surveillance state and what we give up when we engage with modern technology. These things appear, however fleetingly, in Spider-Man 2, but there isn't enough time to elaborate on any single one in the unrelenting march of set-piece after glorious set-piece. But I'm glad they're there, anyway. Because if we're going to retell a story, we ought to retell it anew. Canons were made to be broken, and Spider-Man 2 swings in that direction. With a sequel teed up by the game's final act, I'm eager to see where Insomniac goes with that momentum."

Apparently the thing they thought was most important to talk about was commentary about the justice system of America. It is a video game?

91 score after 91 reviews.

100 reviews in just half an hour (many more than other games where they veto grades the first few days to raise the average...) and it maintains 91.

Insomniac deserves the game to stay above 90+.

Game looks phenomenal. Can't wait to get out of work next friday. I should have booked the day.

The fact that it's holding at a 91 after 97 reviews is very impressive.

Insomniac did it again! Going to be playing this day one.

That 40fps fidelity mode for 120hz displays sounds interesting. Might drag the PS5 upstairs for this one and play on this panel instead.

It's a mavel in Rift Apart. 30fps fidetily with 60fps fluidity.

Highly recommend you to use it if your display supports VRR.

Ugh.....someone jumped in a bit early....

Seems the guy tried to pass off the movie score for the game. lol......warriors are so sad.
