Simps for Amouranth
Fantastic finale to a great Marvel show and a brilliant character arc for Loki, other big shout out to Kang, (not the stuttering one, god he done my head in) definitely a worthy MCU Villain to anchor a load of movies around, he has the presence and acting chops to carry it off, now all he's gotta do is be found innocent of all charges and we're all set otherwise lol@Marvel back to the drawing board

I skimped the loom lore in ep1-3 because those starting ep were so boring

Now that our loki becomes the loom lad, kindof invested as to why he needs to become one?

I can see the purpose of the loom
1. powers the TVA, so they can do their pruning thing
2. failsafe to destory all timelines but scared one should HWR dies.

Begs the question, do the timelines need a loom or a loki to stay alive? We see him regenerating them? What came before the loom?

stupid storytellers, give us a lore summary somewhere.

The Temporal Loom is a failsafe. It doesn't power the TVA, it keeps the sacred timeline in check. When a new universe starts to branch off the sacred timeline (which is itself a multitude of universes all following the same "story"... Like Loki ALWAYS being the villain and then being killed by Thanos), the TVA prunes it.

So if the branches become too much for the loom to contain, it's meant to destroy the branches (which branch off into infinity)until only the Sacred Timeline remains. And everything begins again. The Loom brings order to chaos.

By why? To prevent the emergence of Kang Variants (tho this was only known to HWR and Miss Minutes). That's HWR was the only one left and... His name is self explanatory.

Loki isn't the new Loom. Because of his time slipping and control over time, he was able to survive in the void. He had become IMMENSELY powerful. Instead of pruning, Loki and the TVA are saving all the branches ... No longer extinguishing trillions upon trillions of lives throughout multiverse.

Loki basically became the center of the multiverse... The center and power of Yggdrasil. Loki ascended to become a higher being. Finally becoming a small g god... Something not even Odin really was.

but why does loki needs to save the branches? just let them grow? unless the loom destruction poisons the timelines? makes no sense, lousy writers confirmed! bring back the rick and morty crew

Loki is the god of strife. Time, in fact all of infinity of time, was being confined by the loom and Kang. The god of strife would of course not like this kind of controlled order.

Loki in a way sacrificed himself to allow all infinity of creation to now exist within his new world tree.

Odin is a skyfather, he's fought battles that rumbled through all levels of multiversal existance, he's easily a "small g god", Loki isn't particularly powerful, but he's in a unique position to safeguard all timelines from erasure now.

God of Stories now, this was an adaptation of the god of stories storyline in the comics.

We've never seen any of those feats in the movies... The most powerful we've seen him is stripping Thor of his armor and banishing him to Earth/Midgard. We've seen nothing on the scale of Loki giving all the branched universes in the multiverse a chance to live and thrive.

That doesn't matter, he's still a skyfather.

He's not actually creating timelines, just ensuring they don't die by essentially sacrificing himself by acting as a loom, the only reason he can interact with the branches in this way is because he has access to the TVA; remember that the multiverse has always existed like this, then at some point the kang war happens and the one kang wins, creates the TVA to get rid of any branches from his "sacred timeline" so the other kangs can not come into existence, creates the loom as a fail safe if the TVA fails, Loki destroys the loom and allows reality to go back to what it's supposed to be by sacrificing himself, which immediately brings the other kangs back into existence.
I'm sure other loki's, like Sylvie could do the same, or anyone equally powerful as long as they had access to the TVA, the difference is that variant loki is the only one that decided to rewrite his own story, where he's no longer fated to be the villain, instead of trying to rewrite the outcome, so he becomes the hero through immediate sacrifice, or "glorious purpose" as the show calls it.
So yes while acting as a loom is "powerful", he still wouldn't win in a fight against thor/hela/odin/surtr.

Still dont understand why he needs to stay back and regen the timelines, or at least he can leave once everything old timelines are regen. Why cant Sylvie tempad themselves to visit him? She did came back and send Renslayer there. Maybe that's why her sheepish smile at the end, she gonna hang out with him in secret :lollipop_blowing_kiss:

And in MCU concept Kang is like a eviler version of thanos, Kang also won, and still killing billions and no one knows better of it! Until he got bored and tried to play game with Lokis and lost. lol

I am not sure how Kang dynasty can be interesting, isnt Kang schtick about him reloading and becoming more powerful, Loki already have done it onscreen.

This is what makes Kang scary in the comics. He is literally an RPG video game protagonist who has the ability to reroll stats along with having infinite continues.

Imagine playing a souls game where you play as one of the bosses. Now you have to fight this same guy over and over again as he keeps changing builds to kill you.

One thing I don’t get is, if Kang was pruning timelines up til this point then how did we get multiple timelines in End Game which came before?

The sacred timeline is a limited multiverse where all universes share the same basic story: Loki loses and is eventually killed by Thanos. Any variations (like Loki wanting to be a hero, like Sylvie wanting to be a Valkyrie) introduce variants that are then pruned. Because any variations of deviations from the story of the sacred timeline could lead to a Kang variant.

What about Gamora though?

I am confused about the timelines and loom? What does the loom do? I am thinking it gives the TVA powers as in Ep3 Timely talks about infinte power.

But why does the timelines need the Loom? Why does Loki needs to replace the Loom?

Why does HWR dying causes the Loom to overload? I guess it was a fail safe to draw in more timelines so it overloads in the end?

The loom is a failsafe: if the TVA stops pruning the loom will autoprune all timelines that aren’t the sacred timeline. It also powers the TVA.

My understanding is that the timelines are no longer capable of flowing freely after the loom explodes and throws them in disarray (speculation).

The loom overloads because the TVA stopped pruning.

Sounds like an excuse for poor writing IMO.
What do you mean? The multiverse has always existed, the sacred timeline is just a story that kang's written, gamora crossing over from 616 adjacent to 616 proper isn't a big deal.
Also this has happened in comics, marvel and dc alike plenty; miles morales for instance isn't from 616, he crossed over when his universe, 1610, was destroyed. Then there are other beings that only exist 1 time in all of existence, like Eternity, living tribunal, the phoenix force etc.

Well, where Gamora came from should have been pruned but somehow it was allowed to exist for many years as her deviant had never met Peter. Which I don’t think it gave us an exact timeframe but would definitely have existed before Guardians 1, and possibly since she was a child, or even before then. Her being allowed to cross-over (which added nothing mind you) just seems sloppy.

Variants are just people who started deviating from their path on the sacred timeline enough that it would cause a significant branch to arise, which leads to the possibility of a kang variant being born. Gamora doesn't seem to be a variant like that, her dying and returning from an earlier point in the timeline means it's still the same gamora which means the sacred timeline can keep moving forward; meant to happen.
Now as for the timeline she came from, probably pruned, but also maybe not, since it probably gets destroyed anyway since Ego can run there unchecked and win, so no kang variant there either.

That finale was amazing and that build up and release at the end was wonderful, and made up for some of the more fillerish episodes.

What a great character story arc for Loki. Owen Wilson and Tom had such great chemistry and it was always enjoyable when the two of them were onscreen together.

Loki showing the rest of the Phase IV/V pretenders how it's done.
