Mass Effect 3 Details Coming In April

No scene in Mass Effect 2 came close to touching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5gLcVdn1k0
I still like Sovereign's speech more. But yeah those are the two high points leading up to the finale of Mass Effect.

Edit: Although in the defense of Mass Effect 2. The conversation with Legion is probably just as good as either one of those. Shame that its in no way part of the main plot of the game though.

Less pandering sexuality, more RPG please.
I really hated that half of the time I spent trying to interact and learn about my teammates was denying sexual advances and invitations. I mean, come on.

I much preferred it in the first where it felt, personally, like you had to put more effort into trying to get a relationship with someone. Well, except for Liara... In 2 I was always surprised and shocked that anything I said would turn into some kind of presumption for sex. Give me more Mordin level conversations, Bioware!
I want to feel your skin against mine.

Legion is the only character even marginally related to the main story due to the Geth involvement in ME1.

Yeah, tell me about it.

For me, specifically Jack. Each of my playthroughs I was never interested in getting together with her but I still wanted to get through to her, and help her change. But apparently you had to sleep with her to do that. I always rejected her advances and that always leads her to telling me to fuck off whenever I wanted to speak to her again.

That aspect of Mass Effect 2 cheapened the whole romance experience to me, since it so transparently became 'pick your preferred barbie/ken doll to placate your ego'. It was just so unrealistic, and prevented you from really having what felt like genuine interactions with the characters.

If they'd had ME2 style 'romances' in ME1, you would have had to of had sex with Garus to convince him about the virtues of being paragon or renegade.

Nothing says touching like a huge info dump.
The music is nice though.

haha, true. But this moment was a revelation and definitely one of the higlights.

There's no touching scenes in both MEs except the one in Overlord. Well, there was another one, but I don't remember which one and it wasn't supposed to be touching. Or this could be my imagination...

I remember leaving my squadmate on Virmire was sort of touching. I wanted to kill the motherfucker who made me do it. It was my first Bioware RPG so I wasn't prepared for a lot of things like losing your squadmate and so on. Also I was expecting sort of Fallout level of exploration - not on a such grand scale but I thought there should be random encounters, secondary planets and so on. So when I decided to check out Noveria before flying to get Liara I wanted to do some shopping and leave it at that. I didn't expect to be suckered into a grand quest and was like "WOW, the first planet and it already rocks! I love exploration in this game!". I was pretty naive back then.

Why not the same love for Engineers? They're basically the same idea as an adept, just focusing on tech skills.

I think the problem comes with Bioware substituting a main plot for them. As side quests, they're great. They just shouldn't be the main substance of ME3.

I like this idea a lot. Again my adept in ME2 didn't feel nearly as bad ass as the one I had in ME. Adepts should whoop ass with biotics and engineers should plow through any machines.

And then soldiers, vanguards and sentinels should get buffs with ammo and gun play.

This is basically how The Witcher plays out, yeah. And it does work better than what Bioware employs for Mass Effect, in my opinion. Though I will say it has an obvious downside, in that it's not hard to wind up with the player not really being fond of the character that is being played out. That's sort of where I wound up with The Witcher.

True, but it's preferable to completely bland guy who is somehow also absurdly charismatic.

Which is exactly why its not in any way relevant to the plot of Mass Effect 2.

Oh, I thought you were speaking of the plot of the entire series.

NVM then.

Tactics Ogre as well.

I haven't played the Witcher(getting around to that soon, hopefully), but I know the difference between these two games and Mass Effect is that Geralt and Denam are partially pre-established characters, rather than bland receptacles for the player like Shepard. And while you can make choices for them, it doesn't contradict what we already know of their personalities.

The thing with Denam in Tactics Ogre is that you have Catiua, Vyse as well as Abuna Prancet as windows into the character's past, Denam has a history because he has other characters who experienced the same history as him, he has family, Shepard essentially felt like a mannequin with a manufactured story about his past heroism.

In the biggest non-story and non-surprise in existence, Seth Green has confirmed the shocking news that he will be returning as Joker in Mass Effect 3. You can now lift your jaws off the floor.

Well, always nice to have confirmation. That's Tricia Helfer and Seth Green now.

Hopefully some other VA's will confirm soon. I want Captain Anderson back in a big role again.

Hawke has a family too. Doesn't stop him from being Fantasy Shepard.
