Scalpers, and people who buy the system as a failsafe that when games they do want come out, they won't have to hunt down a system.

Actually, that's the minimum number that sold without any games. The only way the actual number could be that low is if every other person who bought a PS3 only bought one game to go with it. If some people bought more than one game with their PS3 (and I think that's a safe assumption), then the number of gameless PS3s sold is higher.

Maybe some were buying it for games like MotorStorm which are released in the following days? As there won't be any PS3's available by then, I would have bought a PS3 without a game if I wanted to play one of the games which are released in the days following the launch.

Famitsu numbers for Kanji Quiz are higher than MC ones (and probably AC too, but i'm not sure about it)
