Good to see Vita with much bigger numbers than week one last year. Hopefully WiiU and Vita can stay relatively decent instead of immediately dropping off after the holiday.

Sony hardware goes up after new year, as expected. Weird that this doesn't seem to be reflected all that much on the software side... except GTAV. Kind of amazed that this game hasn't dropped off the charts yet in Japan.

Game store guys were pointing out that Vita is finally reaching to kids, to a limited extent only of course, since some of them are now spending their "otoshi-dama" (new-year special allowance) to Vita.
IIRC there were some special bundle available also.

God Eater 2 failed to get a significant boost during the entire holiday season, even with Vita selling 90k this week.

In fact, we only have two PSV titles in the Top 30:

It didn't quite make it in 2013, but I'm still slightly amazed that a sequel to Luigi's Mansion - of all things - is going to be a million-seller.

Fully-deserved, of course, it's a great game, it's just also a bit mindboggling. Anyone here predicted that before launch?

I, at first glance, read this as something like "I'm up YoY too". Considering your mood is strictly dependent on Vita's well-being that would've been fitting, too :D.

I'm happy to see that Mario 3D World didn't drop as much as Wii U. Bodes well for at least some legs going into a rough start of the year.

Nice momentum for 3DS and WiiU software through the holidays. FFX/X-2 HD is doing really well too. The Vita release looks totally justified, considering how it basically doubled the sales. GTAV still charting is really pretty impressive. It's already the 7th best selling PS3 game of all time in Japan now iirc, and it looks like it might break into the 6th... possibly even the 5th.

Its lower than last week and the week before. The holidays brought a bump and does not appear to be a permanent change to Nintendo's fortunes. Unfortunately.

Vita numbers are so surprising, it just shows how well it would do if had at least a couple of games with mass appeal (god damn you Capcom).

How good are broadband connections in Japan? Maybe Playstation Now can give vita a boost when its released there.

Also at this point I think Tearaway should just be bundled with the Vita, its such a good game, we need more people playing it.

I agree. Hopefully this means we won't have to wait another 12 years for the next game.

Yeah it's a bit higher than expected, but it's too soon to judge if it got any momentum I guess.
Next week should tell more about it.
