I'm not sure if it's directly related but Nintendo has all but announced a 3DS successor for next year as of March 17, so I wonder if that affected its sales at all...

It begins. Vita also pretty damn close to 3DS on Famitsu (pretty big difference in 3DS hw between Famitsu and MC). Good week also for PS4. Shame that after next week it will start to drop.

Also have to remember this is a game Japan has already played before.
If anything, this would affect Wii U numbers more. But the successor is still far away, doubt it has influenced people already.

I think every third party publisher will pull XB1 support in Japan. Any game this week on XB1 sold below 2.2K.
End of this year you will not see any XB1 third party titles, unless Microsoft gives stores and publishers an incentive.

It would be interesting if we didn't have the last year as precedence. ;p Western games have been performing better on PS4 than PS3 in Japan for a while now. Japanese games have been performing better on PS3 than PS4 in Japan for a while now. In both cases the PS3 versions usually have lower drops.

If we are to be so technical, to make the comparison properly one should weight the sample of possible sales to actual sales. I bet Type-0 would have a way better score.
Why should multiplatform games boost the XB1 in Japan?

It seems...Dragon Quest Heroes on PS4 still won't steal the first place from Knack, right? It's going down too quickly to do that. I cannot believe that Knack resisted to the DQH assault as well.
Still, overall the game will be over 800,000 at the end, even 850,000...great numbers!

Was Type 0 released on the Xbone? It might've outsold Battlefield if the Xbone version just missed the chart.

There are not that many interesting PS4 Japanese games, so I think it's not that unusual result.
Grats to PS family for getting top 7 software sold. It's rare to see them nowadays.
PS4 reaching 40k sold is another nice thing to see. Hopefully Japanese devs will jump to current gen console quickly. Bamco just announce next "Tales of" on PS4. You know the players are waiting.
Hopefully this week will be similar to last week, at least holding top 5 software. Bloodborne should be the top and and hopefully Disgaea 5 will follow close behind. One could dream right.

For the Mario vs DK bomba comments, I wouldn't be surprised if this game made most of its sales digitally, as people expect it here rather than retail. It never was a big franchise too.
