Did your wife work for Nintendo and everyone had a go with her?
How many post-GW weeks did it take last year until a new PSVita game release?Vita's real test will be after Golden Week, when software drought begins. Not that it did anything special last week
I would guess your rhetoric, not your opinion.
Quite amazing how much Bandai Namco and Nintendo dominate Japan's software charts.
Did your wife work for Nintendo and everyone had a go with her?
I mean...you get why being #2 alone means jack shit, right? Imagine there's a 10km race with a normal guy, you and a few really fat people. You place second. Big fucking deal man.
while completely ignoring the elephant in the room (i.e. Wii U).
while at the same time completely ignoring the Wii U's dilemma. It just reeks of fanboyism and confirmation bias.

My rhetoric? He responds to a post I make (that wasn't directed at him) and calls me the "Vita Master Ninja" and says that I obviously know nothing about golden week, but I am not allowed to reply in kind?
My original post dealt with those who come to the MC thread every week to espouse doom and gloom predictions about the Vita, which, btw has been the #2 selling piece of hardware for months, while completely ignoring the elephant in the room (i.e. Wii U). Now this is just my perception, but I feel that those who come each week to tell us how the Vita's death is inevitable without mentioning the Wii U's dismal situation are either Nintendo fanboys or are seeking to confirm an earlier prediction that was proven wrong (i.e. confirmation bias). Either way, the opinion, to me, seems to lack objectivity. Mind you, this is just my opinion.
Also, my initial post wasn't meant to express my opinion that the Vita is doing freaking great over in Japan, or anywhere else for that matter. Instead, all that I said is that I find it humorous that every week someone predicts that the Vita will return to sub-10K sales figures within the next few weeks. I have seen this prediction every week from Week 8: Feb. 18-24 to today.
Fast forward to this week. Vita posts numbers >22K. The same people surmise that this weeks sales figures prove the Vita's demise since it only rose 800 units during golden week. This opinion disregards the following facts:
1. The only hardware that saw any appreciable rise in sales numbers during golden week is the 3DS and we all know that it is a juggernaut.
2. Last year the 3DS sold 91K during golden week, this year it sold 20K fewer units. 3DS in ro-rohs?
3. The only vita game that came out was Photokano, while the 3DS had the following recent releases: Friend Collection: New Life (which is charting at the number 1 spot and Detective Conan: Marionette Symphony (which is charting at number 16).
4. The Vita has consistently charted at the #2 spot since the price cut, and, in fact beat the 3DS one week. Why is this relevant since we are comparing a new hardware release to mostly 7 year old hardware? First, that is not entirely accurate because the Wii U is the newest piece of hardware on the market. Vita has sold 427.960 year to date in japan. Wii U has sold 281.960. The Wii U numbers are even more troubling considering the fact that it launched on Dec 8th, so it enjoyed the momentum of a new hardware release for the first few weeks of 2013 (i.e. - 1st week Wii U sold 67.083, 2nd week Wii U sold 20.715 and we know what happened from there). Secondly, there is no way the #2 selling console (using that term loosely) is going to be discontinued. Further, I don't think we are at a point, hopefully, where developers only support the hardware that is selling the most. If that becomes the case at any point, we are all screwed. My point is that arguing that the Vita will be discontinued within a year despite the fact that it has consistently charted at the #2 spot is effectively saying that the market only has room for the top selling console/handheld.
In a nutshell it just drives me crazy to see the same people each week predicting the Vita's demise despite the fact that it is #2 on the hardware charts and despite the fact that it is selling 2x as much as it was last year while at the same time completely ignoring the Wii U's dilemma. It just reeks of fanboyism and confirmation bias.
That Vita percentage seems pretty good bearing in mind there was no Pro Evo.
Did MGS HD Vita sell particularly well?
I don't think that has anything to do with people making a nasty rhetorical question that everyone knew the answer to would be a resounding no just to make a point similar to the following:By the way, please don't talk about my wife. She just got diagnosed with breast cancer. Thank you.
Funny, but no. If you really want to know:

It really, really saddens me to say so, but, yes, I am done with Nintendo.
Like I said earlier, it is not about the money. Nintendo games are great and I will continue to buy them.
Think globally chap. Being 2nd in Japan means jack shit when the Japanese market only seems to want the 3DS. When you factor in every other territory, Vita ain't 2nd. Sadly. My rhetoric? *snip*
Huh. Odd. I'm surprised that the 3DS & Vita percentages are so close for Konami. No it bomba'd. Something like half as much as mgs 3d iirc.
Err...moving off-topic...
How do you guys think Mario Party 3DS will do?

You actually believe Wii U's terrible sales are being ignored in these threads, while admitting that you "fucking hate Nintendo for personal reasons." If you want to find fanboyism and confirmation bias, I suggest you look in a mirror.
You have to be a joke character.
If you really are a lwayer, remind me not to hire your services -
Trust me, you couldn't afford me. Also, if you would have continued reading you would see that when I said I will continue buying Nintendo games, I meant for my children.
Your use of ad hominem arguments make you look like a fool. Just saying.

Please explain how pointing out sth is #2 in sales is equivalent to claiming it's doing "well", whatever the fuck that even means. Please, please explain to me how a #2 position inherently means it's doing well. That's a 2nd-grade level logical fallacy.![]()
Good, but not DS-levels.
Probably around a million.
I think it might follow the same pattern as Mario Kart 7 vs Mario Kart DS

Because it's presented as his single argument against people speaking of the Vita's demise, the possibility of its discontinuity and generally commenting on its bad performance. What post did you read, one that only said "it's #2" and none of the rest? Not that I think the system is doomed, things could be turned around (and that's a real reason for it not to be discontinued), but they haven't so far and it certainly needs to start doing better. Please explain how pointing out sth is #2 in sales is equivalent to claiming it's doing "well", whatever the fuck that even means.

Don't just read things into other people's posts. Ask them for clarification if you think there's something important to uncover. In what context did the poster post it? Obviously he was using it as a way to say it is doing well.
=>Why on earth else would he emphasize that so heavily and point to it as a reason why Sony wouldn't discontinue it?
Every single week since the price cut someone makes the predication that Vita will return to sub-10k numbers within 2 weeks. Since that time, however, Vita has never dropped below the #2 spot on either chart.
The hows and whys and context are well laid out before your eyes. What's the use of interpreting grand secret meanings into other people's posts, instead of just tackling the arguments at face value? Also, my initial post wasn't meant to express my opinion that the Vita is doing freaking great over in Japan, or anywhere else for that matter. Yeah, they are completely focusing on the PS4. Vita is an afterthought.Sony forecast (5m for Vita+SP) says everything.
Vita is done, and Sony accepted that.

There's nothing to "read into it". He said explicitly, over and over, that he thinks a #2 position is something meaningful.

You are amazing.
If Wii U hasn't improved in a year (after and if Nintendo has managed to actually release a few things) then I think you'll see the exact same comments by some people. If we were underestimating how much of a disaster Vita was are we also underestimating how much of a disaster WiiU is?
Now you're the one desperately readng into things, lmao.It indicates #2 placement in hardware sales, that discontiuation is highly unlikely, and that we indeed shouldn't wish for discontinuation of a #2 product, because by extension of logic it would mean we welcome a single-device future.
