Not initially, but after looking at some weeks of sales, I think many people expected it to cross a million eventually.I'm surprised Luigi's Mansion 2 sold over a million copies, did anyone expect that?
Zelda's top platforms have been DS and 3DS where Zelda sold 400-900k. Musou's top platform is PS3 where the unlicensed traditional franchise entries have sold 200-500k.Dynasty Warriors 8 on PS3 sold ever so slightly more than Skyward Sword did on Wii.

They probably should run Medabots to the ground though. This isn't a franchise that you carefully cultivate in order for it to last decades. Slash and burn the entire thing.Medarot 8 announced for 3DS: http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/7699459.html
The series has gone back to being annual. These guys are totally going to kill the franchise again.
IMO a big reason for the console malaise in Japan is the fact that new releases still cost 8208 yen or sometimes more. If games cost upwards of $100 over here, I don't think they would be selling as well either. Especially considering as hard hit as the economy is over there and the stagnant salaries. I know, I just got back from living over there for several years and the average person is having a hard time just getting by and they do not have money to blow on such expensive luxuries. If they would just bring the cost down to reasonable levels I think sales would pick up (outside of used game shops).

But it's a franchise that has been around for nearly two decades. It's also the biggest thing Rocket Company has in the physical games space.
Looks like Japan is getting another retail release of DQX combining the original release with the expansion pack: http://www.gonintendo.com/s/229206-dragon-quest-x-all-in-one-heading-to-japan.
It's releasing 8/7 there.
I doubt DQX was on GameSpy's servers. So precisely what happens to wii version when the Nintendo Network goes down (if it hasn't already). Will they keep it going?
I doubt DQX was on GameSpy's servers.
I think they would have too since the majority of users are still on the Wii.I had guessed that. was just wondering if they cared enough to keep it going depending on the player since the online infrastructure is mostly gone if ever there was time to close without much issue that'd probably be it.
Well there has to be an official stance why the game isnt out in europe...right ? I mean yes they are making money like crazy, but wouldnt this be the kind of no-brainer action stakeholders would be pushing for ? Just feels so weird, that they just ignoring the market.
btw. I also would be interested in new information about Wonder Flicks performance, from what i`ve seen L5 keeps pushing the games with TV ads and also introduces popular characters from other IPs like Yokai Watch in promotions. Their last Level 5 Vision event was pretty much all about their mobile/f2p games so the expectation are very high i would guess.
Thanks for the clarification, doesnt sound too bad honesty. Overheard some guys in the iOS thread strictly refusing to play the game because there was no form of cloud-support - maybe they patched that in recently ?
Do we get Mario Kart numbers today ?
Wonder Flick didn't do so hot long run. Will be interested to see if it does better on dedicated devices:
Also sorry about the Sega boildown delay. I'll put that in the next thread.
Youkai Watch tops one million http://www.famitsu.com/news/201405/28054009.html
The game's not out yet so no we wouldn't.
So weird - it kinda seems like the "perfect" f2p game for mobiles - this just show how unpredictable the market is, even when all boxes are checked.
Wonder how their other f2p mobile initiatives will perform.
will the 8k Club return to 8k this week?
Who said they were the 8k club. Seems more like the dead club.

Can the numbers get any lower?
