That... would actually make a lot of sense.Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby Mass Attack was at some point a Pikmin game, or at least inspired by Pikmin.
Doesn't the tie-in anime only start weeks or even months later? It's going to have legs.
Nah, Level-5 will release Super Yokai Watch Boost Gold Arcade Editionbto tie into the anime's broadcast, thus cutting those legs.
When are Media Create results for the prior week generally made available the following week?
Curious to see if my 50k prediction for Wii U was crazy.
No. Wii U got channel stuffed. It will not (never?) have stock issues outside of maybe a few stores. 50K would not cause stock issues. If it was selling like that we probably would've heard something about sell-outs and stock issues by now.

So based on this how long do you think until Pikmin 3 becomes the third best-selling title on Wii U (assuming it beats 300k on Wii U before another title does so).
In Japan? 330k and 530k respectively. I'm pretty sure MH is the third best seller on Wii U worldwide. What's the actual sales of Nintendo land and NSMBU in Japan? If I'm correct, these two games were above 2 million on March 31. I think ZombiU will likely be the 3rd best title for WiiU worldwide followed by MH3U? Or is it the other way around?

NSMB Sellthrough: 525,968 as of June 23rd, 2013
Nintendo Land Sellthrough: 330,649 as of June 9th, 2013
1. NSMB U
2. Nintendo Land
3. MH3U
...with Dragon Quest X and Game and Wario trailing behind.
I think it's unlikely the second best selling title on the Wii U has reached 300K WW, let alone the third best selling. If it has, likely not by much.
I wasn't including Nintendo Land as it's a pack-in for a lot/most of the consoles.Wait, haven't NSMBU and Nintendo Land both hit 300K in Japan itself?
Assuming that you're talking about Japan, the third best-selling Wii U title is way below 300.000 units. Monster Hunter 3G HD must have sold around 215.000 units so Pikmin 3 shouldn't have trouble outselling that title. Maybe it will need 1 or 2 months.
If ND games are considered good sellers the list of good selling western games is much longer. Skyrim, Fallout, Red Dead Redemption, Assassins Creed, Battlefield and others had similarly solid results. As far as I know, the only Western games that do well are GTA, COD and Naughty Dog games. Ratchet and Clank used to do well.

Because if it doesn't Nintendos master plan is truly over. Even Vita rose to 40k with miku and persona so Wii u has to do around the same to even hint at Nintendo's plan of gradual releases from July till the end of the year to work. Why does it really matter? It will come back crashing down.

Vita rose to 40K and then came back crashing down.
Setting some arbitrary value that it has to pass will not matter in the long term. It's obvious from the get go the Wii U will come back crashing down.
Software people are interested in will cause hardware to rise. The Earth spins, rain falls, and the sun comes up in the morning, news at 11.
EDIT: Just read my post and seen that I come off as rude, sorry about that, didn't mean to sound rude. Just trying to be frank.
If that blog gets too popular they will probably be forced to stop posting, so I don't, I'd remove the link.
I'd say most people equate poor Wii U sales to the extreme post launch drought it experienced (launch sales were good enough).
If a good, polished first party game from a beloved established franchise brings a significant boost (even temporary) then that backs up the notion that the issue is (primarily) about games.
If even a good, polished first party game from a beloved established franchise has almost no effect on sales, then the problem is not games.
Understood where you're coming from. I just don't get why you're here in the sales thread of all places if the numbers don't interest you at all lol.
Some data (probably Famitsu?) from Sinobi on Wii U software in Japan

I agree, though there is the problem that Pikmin is not actually a big franchise. The GameCube games did well, but it's nine years since the last Pikmin game released. Considering it's more of a niche game, one can only hope that players will appreciate it for its charme and its quality.
I don't know if I would call it niche, at least in Japan.
I think it is mid-tierish.
You are right, that probably describes it better. Still, I'm a bit worried due to the long period of time that has passed since the second game came out.
It is.You can find it easily on the netThat looks like Famitsu software sales for the Top 3-ranked Nintendo Wii U titles the last time they were in the Top 30.
I guess excitement comes from seeing how well Pikmin can sell, and how well the Wii U can sell when it's actually given a game with at least some selling potential.
It'll be intresting to see how things transition from that to TW101, Wind Waker HD, DK and 3D World. Also interested in Sonic Lost World. Does Sonic usually do well in Japan?
Sonic sells horriblly in JP for whatever reason, even the Wii games did like 5k FW.
Is it fair to say that Pikmin 3 showcases a degree of effort, passion, and brilliance that seems missing from every game Nintendo has released or has revealed for the Wii U thus far (with the exception of X)?
well it is the first game worth owning for the console
