Higher relative price, general market decline, no longer the "powerful" alternative. It won't get to 500k LTD without some miracles or major Japanese exclusives.
Not sure what your asking here. Did you believe the Tales game for example was a great choice for making exclusive to move 360's in japan? You second question im not even sure where you got that from. Never said Xone was doing better with that.
Price compared with the other 2? I thought the kinectless version was around the same price.
Yes? Tales it a pretty big franchise as far as they go in Japan. The only franchises really significantly bigger at the time were owned by Square, Nintendo or called Monster Hunter. It's very possible Square weren't willing to have timed exclusivity of any of their major franchises and Monster Hunter may have been too much. Tales was pretty much likely the biggest franchise they were willing to fit the bill for.

Just talking about relative to it's competitors. As in, Xbox was the same price as it's competitors, Xbox 360 was cheaper than one of it's competitors and Xbox one is more expensive than both of its competitors. Those points were only comparing OG xbox to Xbone, there are a even more reasons it won't touch 360's userbase.
I think you may be overhauling tales in Japan, but I could be wrong, anyone got Japanese game franchise sales in Japan?
based on what?
No how can you say they tried when they grabbed franchises and games that had no console moving power even when on the PS3 with few exceptions? Some games were already on ps3, again, some, some of you think I said all.
Some of the franchises that were on 360 (tales for example) were already niche games. I dont think the 360 was trying in Japan, more likely needing up their library in the west. Most of the Japan exclusive exclusive games barely pushed a bed sheet over a agreed much less big deals.
Im not saying those games are not important just saying those games had no moving power even if the roles were reversed. With a few exceptions of course.
There were some handheld franchises (Layton, Inazuma) that were pretty big for a while, but as I said, there really weren't (aren't?) many console franchises bigger than Tales that weren't Square/Nintendo/Monster hunter. I'll try and find you some numbers...
Edit: You know what, there's really no point to this discussion right now. Wait till next week to find out.
Regarding Tales. I'll try and find you some numbers.

Top 20 PS3 games, ToX is #7, ToX2 is #20.
I believe even diehard Xbox fanboys have accepted XB1 fate in Japan. For some reason you want to believe the opposite and ignore all indications and data. If you are not trolling it's good to believe in miracles but the reality is much different.
Top 20 PS3 games, ToX is #7, ToX2 is #20.
Further down,
#29. Tales of Vesperia (late port after being 360 timed exclusive) 408.171
#40. Tales of Graces f (port from Wii game) 338.628

Ahh, so its not that big in comparison. I figured Taking was a bigger deal as well.
Microsoft enlisted Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, and Akira Toriyama, the artist behind Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest, to create Blue Dragon for Xbox 360. To build the property up, Microsoft worked with other partners. This meant a TV anime that ran for two years, two separate manga series, merchandise lines and eventual DS spinoffs.
Yes, Microsoft tried to get Japan interested in Xbox 360. They weren't doing great, but they were growing in that region. Then they stopped trying. Now Xbox One will follow the first Xbox's performance in Japan.
I'm not sure how the info you're getting out of this is "oh it's not that big" when it's literally one of the biggest 3rd party brands on home consoles behind FF/RE/MGS/GTA but ok. Seems like your mind is made up already.
Its not that big in relation to other franchises such as Yakuza etc.
Ok, so let me just say I know jack about Japanese sales and we will see how much the Xbox does in the first 2 weeks. Again, I never said it was going to be a hit but I think it will have a "passable launch" to say the least.
Unless they drop bombs no ONE would ever think possible at tgs. Which I doubt.

Toemon what are you doing? What are you arguing? Please don't tell me you're arguing that XB1 will do well in Japan. It would be lucky to reach half of 360's LTD.
Then why are you even making this argument? Just to be contrarian?
The 360 trying in Japan argument is unrelated to the Xboxone maybe selling 90k or so in the first 10 or so days.
You mean the same Blue Dragon that barely got pushed outside Japan and had iits 2 nintendo es sequel NO ONE really knew about?
What is a passable launch and how will Microsoft achieve this relative to their past Japanese launch efforts?
Don't answer my question with a question either, that's common deflection.

There was a guy who used to defend Microsoft in these threads. I can't remember his name. Then he was either banned or gave up after it became clear the Xbox 360 wasn't going anywhere.
I guess this new guy is just looking to fill that spot or something, I don't know. It doesn't actually seem he is defending Microsoft, but at least we're talking about Xbox concerning the Japanese market, so that's a win?
Tsutaya's weekly report
- Toukiden is on top this week as it was expected. There's the impression it had a slow start, though. But Vita Hardware is in a good shape now, so legs are expected.
- Persona 4: Arena is second. These days fighting games are not selling well, so the fact that Persona is selling well is special.
- Super Robot Taisen OG Saga and specially Medarot 8 have been stock limited.
Next week:
- Dragon Quest X for 3DS is expected to top the charts. Pre-orders are favorable.
- The reputation for TitanFall was high and it's included as a download version with One, so it could promote a dash start.
- Pre-orders for Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 are good.

Rise of Mana and Deadman's Cross are being ported to Vita.
I can't tell if Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur (iOS/Android) has already been released or not.
A mana game coming from Android? Hm interesting. Is it any good?
- Dragon Quest X for 3DS is expected to top the charts. Pre-orders are favorable.
Speaking of DQX, the PC version is now "region free" but what about the Wii/WiiU and soon to be 3DS one? I know the hardware itself is region locked, but if I were import the new 3DS with a copy of DQX, can I play it?
According to expectations at least I'm guessing, since they keep coming, its already PS3/PS4 multiplatform, no reason not to add the Vita.It really depends on your definition of well though. I'd say the Vita Warriors game have done pretty miserably, but are ok b/c they supplement the PS3 releases. Hyrule Warriors hasn't even hit 100K yet but has outsold all the Vita Warriors games (One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 Vita included).

Okay I have Road to TGS ready, but I'm saving the actual post for the new thread that's out soon.
That said, here's a preview with the spreadsheet and stats so far: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-zF0jwT0Y1a3kcNbnRJYt323BgFtXwmAZHRF2vwzkZU/edit?usp=sharing
When this is done (Road to TGS as a whole) I'll try to roughly separate things out by sales tier so that it's a little more clear what the caliber of announcements is instead of just the volume.
