Now that's interesting. Today, Bamco announced that One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum and Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden would get cross-play in Early November (via a Software update). Will work for both local and online. No words on any restrictions.

https://one-piece.com/news/detail/20160912_4507

Both games were developed by Arc System Works, by the way. No idea how that's going to work, though.

The fuck? So it's like a One Piece vs DBZ game but split in two?

Wtf!?

Finally, Nintendo's infamous exclusivity deal for MH is over. Monster Hunter 4 is finally coming to a non-Nintendo platform.

Pachinko.

That reminds me that Capcom also has a pachinko machine for Ace Attorney. Even had some pretty neat anime cutscenes, though separate from the anime series.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

You know...this is so unprecedented and strange it could deserve its own thread.
Also, why do I have the feeling this Namco's idea will make Capcom very, VERY happy

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

The Last Guardian is December 6th now in Japan.

Not just in Japan, delay is worldwide (I assume you're specifically mentioning Japan because it's a MC thread, but I'm sure someone will ask anyway).

Hasn't there been a few delays for PS4 games in the past couple of weeks?

Super Interesting too actually. This can make a interesting collab but on cheap price too.^_^

The two million title is this one lol

I can't even tell if you're serious or not. X_X

On a more general question, I have no idea if pachinko machines are reported as "software" for FY reporting. I mean, they are definitely software and they are games. Heck, extend my uncertainty here to any type of arcade release as well. Are these reported as part of software sales planning for a FY or do they go under different categories as they are not part of console/mobile development?

Both DRV3 and KH2.8 got pushed pack, with the former looking to a fairly big one.

EDIT: actually it's not as bad as I thought, though I don't get why they didn't time it better with the anime.

Pretty much "confirmed" the new MH game to be for 3DS/NX. At least for me.

One more year of Monster Hunter not returning to Sony.

From the moment Capcom didn't reveal anything for the system NX was confirmed and there were some very slim possibilities it would also be for PS4 since 3DS was necessary for FY target

Lol. That will be RIP Japan lol.

Wait, Mobile will save Japan now.^_^ Any reason why Mobile won't dominate Japan?^_^

Agree. Guess the dream is dead.

Trinity is also dead.T_T
Trinity was never alive! She was always the slim. (Insert Matrix joke here).

IMHO Japan will move into NX/PS4 development after Vita is gone around 2018

Xbox One S has been announced for release in Japan, sometime later in the year, no word on how much.

Not even release date ?

Seriously how hard is it to prepare 200 consoles for initial sales rush ?

Square Enix has a pretty strong lineup in Japan for the next few months...

Oct - World of Final Fantasy (PS4/Vita)
Nov - Final Fantasy XV (PS4)
Dec - SaGa Scarlet Graces (Vita)
Jan - Kingdom Hearts 2.8 (PS4)
Feb - NieR Automata (PS4)

Wonder if they'll fit FFXII in March, since it looks like DQXI might miss it.

It certainly seems to be there in terms of output compared to previous years. With that said, WoFF doesn't seem to be making any inroads with pre-orders, so it's not off to a great start. I really wonder how well SaGa is going to do at this point too.

I think it's pretty obvious hiska-kun is being facetious here :p

About pachinko, pretty sure most companies report their "sales" separately from regular Software (at least, Capcom does).

I only see Final Fantasy 15 selling over 200k, the rest dont seem that big of a release in Japan

That seems like a stretch to me.

Why? For KH it's a question of how many people want a demo of KH3 badly. KH3D sold pretty poorly in Japan, so that's also indicative that a large portion of the KH audience didn't play it. It's not an easy sell by any means, since it's a 6800yen product and KH3D does have a bad reputation with regards to the quality of the game, but the potential is definitely there.

SaGa is a pretty popular series in Japan with an under served audience for many years now. But it remains unique enough that this audience doesn't really have alternatives. If the game doesn't turn out to be a complete shitshow, there's no reason to think it wouldn't be able to sell to a large portion of the people who would like to play a proper SaGa game again.

The 0.2 portion seems to be really short and outside of that I would imagine the content of this collection is less appealing than the other remasters SE has released recently.

SaGa has been dormant for so long that I'm not confident in it, though I'm probably wrong.

Is it really? (Honest question)

It doesn't strike me as a title that could break 200k either, especially on Vita, the latest entries on DS which were proper remakes didn't manage that, heck the second remake didn't even break 100k 5 years ago, so would Square Enix expect Scarlet Grace to sell twice more than that ?

On the plus side the Romancing Saga 2 remake probably helped to give more visibility to the IP both on Vita and smartphone, and it also did good numbers (
I won't get banned for telling that and hoping for a Vita localization right?
) and is probably above >100k on Vita only.

I'm not well versed on the subject but >200k still seems to be a stretch, 150k would be a good result if the product is fine and would put if on par with Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Oreshika and Tokyo Xanadu which are the closest example of PSV exclusive JRPG I can think off.
There's Sword Art Online at 300k, but it's more fitted to the PSV audience than SaGa imo.

Is it really? (Honest question)

Sure, why not?

SaGa sold 1.1 million.
Romancing SaGa sold over 900k.
Romancing SaGa 2 sold 1.1 million.
Romancing SaGa 3 sold 1.3 million.
SaGa Frontier sold over a million.
SaGa Frontier 2 sold over 600k.
Unlimited SaGa sold over 400k.
Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song sold 450k.

A huge part of the series' popularity came from the aspects attached to it since Romancing SaGa - namely the amazing Kobayashi artwork and the great music from Ito or Hamauzu. Both of which the DS remakes of the super old GB games lacked. Even then the first DS remake sold pretty well for something that was really low budget and outsourced to a Z-tier dev studio.

The Legend of Legacy sold pretty well by FuRyu standards (about 80k LTD according to Famitsu), but that's still sub-100k.

Yeah but it's a FuRyu game. There's only so much you can boost when the publisher has no retail power at all given their usual releases. We're also talking about a JRPG directed by a time first director who happened to get together an A-class design team to support the game with their names alone.

I can see why you'd say this but still. Phantasy Star Nova should've sold more than 200k given it was following on from the Portable games, yet that was a disaster. I don't think there's any guarantee in today's market.

Still, the potential is there. Guess it depends whether it gets any nostalgia marketing.
