That's gonna be glorious... Some people didn't even thing this game could have crossed the 300k in its first week. New Leaf will be huge this holiday season.
Could it make 2 million by new year
Could it be compete with the week where last Super Mario 3D Land was released? I think so.
Now I'm wondering how high 3DS will be this week. Could it be compete with the week where last Super Mario 3D Land was released? I think so.

500k shipped and 80-90% sell-through just on the first day?
This mean 400-450k sold.
It's gigantic. I mean
Animal Crossing Wild World's LTD after first two weeks: 478,294
Animal Crossing City Folk's LTD after first two weeks: 413,607
What was the number?
I can see Nintendo keeping supply low but available to encourage digital purchases.
It's a bit boring right now with Vita going down and down and down with nothing in horizon to save it. We need the Wii U.
MC Top 50
35./44. [3DS] Little Battlers eXperience: Explosive Boost <RPG> (Level 5) {2012.07.05} (¥4.400)
xD
Methinks hino will be breaking his promise very soon

I thought that AC might've dropped in popularity but looks like I was wrong.

Yes, maybe. They must be very happy to reduce used copies for a game that is traditionally not very plagued by used copies to begin with. Plus, they must have a considerably higher margin on games directly bought from the eShop.Nintendo said they'd be talking digital numbers for some titles. I suspect Animal Crossing will be the first game where they shout them from the rooftops.
I figured last week it could take up to early March at a conservative rate with a solid PS3 performance, but it's looking like, at a stretch, the overtaking could happen this year...The figure of 400-450,000 which will not include eShop purchases has to be mightily impressive since this is a title made to stay on your system. 3DS LTD is gonna overtake PS3 sooner than I initially thought.
It's kinda crazy to see how things are working out so great for Nintendo in Japan while western sales are still pretty men.
So I gather Animal crossing will be the biggest 3DS title until 2013, aside from it is there anything else I'm forgetting, such as Pokemon dungeon?
Then, in Q1/Q2 2013 there are Tomodatchi collection, DQ7 and Monster hunter 4, good times ahead for 3DS.
There's zero doubt that Animal Crossing will be this holiday's strongest title, but Mystery Dungeon, Paper Mario and Layton x Ace Attorney should be big sellers.

I don't know, Layton's series has performing underwhelmingly recently, and I don't recall any Paper Mario being a big hit in Japan, between the three you're mentioning Mystery dungeon may be the one with the biggest sales potential.
I'd like to say Inazuma Eleven Go 2 there, but considering Level 5's scheduling is...well...

Was it here where I read AC might only get a 200k shipment in week 1? I guess that was wrong then.
Retailers and consumers will ignore them in place of Sony.I'm quite surprised Sony even bothered with 3g versions of the new colours
Retailers and consumers will ignore them in place of Sony.
If only DS weren't obstacolating 3DS sales in US...I mean, the last Investor meeting showed us good / very good sales in Europe ( where DS has been killed) after XL's launch. At least, next year DS should be over in USA toobut, of course, NoA will cut the price again and then another year with DS selling :lol
Nintendo was harshly criticized for not putting GBA down fast enough back then too. The system was still a big seller until 2007.Well the history has been there before. Nintendo were in this same situation several years ago with the GBA vs DS, of which I can recall quite a few GAF threads of yesteryear condemning the company for putting the GBA out in to the shed to be killed. We all know how that story went.
Whether history repeats itself in the sales game is up to the acceptance of the spreadsheet critics.

The margin on the 3G version is probably better, so I can see why Sony wants to continue the model. Of course, if retailers and consumers aren't picking it up, it'll just end up like the PSP Go.
They might have some type of deal that they made with NTT Docomo to support/release 3G versions of the Vita for awhile. It sounds plausible...I'm quite surprised Sony even bothered with 3g versions of the new colours

If retailers are having to mark it down to the same price the higher margins will cease to exist, Sony would be better off saving money by streamlining production

I've just looked and bizarrely amazon are actually selling the black 3g cheaper than the wifi and the white one for only a few yen more, Sony really should stop trying to flog the dead horse that is 3g vita
I'd expect Paper Mario 3 to sell more in line with the last DS Mario & Luigi than it's console predecessors. It's going to be over 500k lifetime at the least.
