I don't think they've ever put Advance Wars or Golden Sun on consoles yet. Well, I guess there's Battalion Wars as the Advance Wars equivalent. I could see Paper Mario, or Last Story 2, but the latter has to have Sakaguchi on board for a Wii U title. Honestly, I felt like the Last Story was screaming to be on more powerful hardware, so even an enhanced port of that on Wii U would probably benefit the game. However, considering how the first one barely even got localized in the US (thanks XSEED!), I'm not sure how much they'd be interested in a rerelease.

Mistwalker did express interest in developing WiiU games, but the Gooch is more occupied making surfing iOS games.

In addition to Xeno, Nintendo also has Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Mother/Earthbound (
lol it's never gonna happen
), Paper Mario (real paper mario, not the sticker nonsense), Advance Wars, Golden Sun, etc that they could put on the WiiU.

I'm personally hoping we will see a Last Story II

Nintendo should just pull a Bayo 2 and get Cry On on Wii U, MAQL own the IP (NOT MS, which is funny). I think it'd be far enough along concept wise and maybe even tech wise to get it going easily enough on Wii U.

The Last Story II would be great as well, but I would love to see Xenoblade and The Last Story ported to Wii U, gets more games on Wii U and these games extra life, Xenoblade specifically to help get people excited for X.

I hope someday Camelot can make a Golden Sun on Wii U, but honestly I'd be even happier with Mario Golf and Tennis U, still waiting for Would Tour... *taps fingers*

Hopefully Nintendo will get another Pokemon RPG on consoles for the first time since XD, Genius Sonority is a shell of their former selves head count wise, they were supposedly working on an original RPG for Wii U in 2008, it got canned, then they downsized. That'd be FANTASTIC to revive on Wii U, maybe they can expand again or Nintendo can lend them some folks to do it.

I think Paper Mario is likely, it hasn't missed a Nintendo home console since it debuted, but PLEASE be like TTYD and NOT Sticker Star or Super Paper Mario...

I predict Cranky Kong remixes.

How's THIS?

That thread is hilarious where the Wii U haters are even hedging, claiming that 300K will still be a failure.

It would be a massive failure. 150k is just kill it now territory,

With the way Wii U has been struggling in the U.S.? 300k would be about 4.5x of what Oct. did. I'm being realistic here.

This makes no logical sense. Because it's been selling like absolute dog shit, if it manages to have a good multiplier of that it's not failing even though 300k in November is abysmally low for a Nintendo platform?

Wii U is a colossal failure.
300k is good for it, but still terrible numbers for a 1 year old platform with no successor.

it would be a nice improvement, but going from sub-Dreamcast territory to....Dreamcast territory isn't exactly something to pop out the champagne for

It also is a month with two brand new consoles with the PS4 and X1, and Nintendo or retailers didn't advertise any great BF Bundles before the date. It wasn't until BF itself that we got bundles at $250 with Target, etc.

300K isn't a failure by any stretch this year.

When you have to include a bunch of qualifiers to excuse the failure it's still a failure.

Nintendo platforms rely more on word of mouth than traditional advertising. Since the WiiU relies more on local multiplayer, increasing the number of consoles in homes greatly increases its social presence. While 300k isn't amazing by any means, a large increase in player base IS great for the console and CAN signify a change of things to come. It's obviously not in healthy territory right now, but it's not dying of dysentery either.

300K or less Novembers for unreplaced systems in the US, Gen 7:

Vita: 2012
PSP: 2009, 2010, 2011
PS3: 2006 (insanely supply constrained)
[No other system has ever done this poorly in Gen 7.]

I guess if the Dreamcast is our bar for success we can consider everything in Gen 7 and the Vita to be successes.

People are trying to spin 300K in November in the US as... a success?

Probably worth noting that's also only 9 days of tracking for the PS3.

Edit - Adding to the above, including systems with successors already out, for the 6th gen systems:
PS2: 2008 onwards
Original Xbox: 2005 onwards
GameCube: 2005 onwards

Are the times where a system has sold at 300K or less.

now that you mention it....didn't the N64 outsell the PSP in the US (not that it's a particularly relevant comparison, but still)

Anything greater than expectations is a success considering how bad it's been doing. It's obviously not selling gangbusters now, noone's said that.

http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303330204579251221692606100

TOKYO—Japan overtook the U.S. to become the world's No. 1 country in app store revenue, thanks to an explosion in growth of smartphone and tablet games.

Japanese consumers spent roughly 10% more than U.S. consumers did on all apps found on smartphones and tablets in October, according to app tracker App Annie. That amount is triple the spending in South Korea and six times that in Great Britain. Just a year ago, Japanese consumers spent 40% less than U.S. consumers.

The reversal reflects a shift from advanced feature phones to smartphones in Japan that pioneered mobile Internet systems. Japanese consumers have long been conditioned to buy digital content from train schedules to games to fancy emoticons on advanced feature phones. Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo Inc. 9437.TO +0.24% introduced its mobile Internet service i-mode at the beginning of 1999, eight years before the first iPhone and nine years before the first Android-powered phone. In 2009, Japanese consumers were already spending more than ¥553 billion ($5.4 billion) on digital content. By 2012, that was up to ¥851 billion, according to the Mobile Content Forum.

"The adoption of smartphones is much faster than what we expected," said Peter Warman, chief executive at Amsterdam-based game data research firm Newzoo BV. "It's fueling further growth."

The main driver has been mobile games. Japanese consumers spent nearly four times as much as a year ago on gaming apps, App Annie said. That has lifted spending on Android-powered devices to quadruple in the year to October, App Annie said, making Japan the first place in the world where Google GOOG -0.68% Play spending has caught up to app spending on Apple's AAPL -0.74% iPhones and iPads, it said.

In August, Mr. Warman had forecast that Japan's total mobile game revenue would come to around 26% of an estimated $12.2 billion in global revenue, while North America—although three times bigger in terms of the number of players—comprised only 25%.

Mr. Warman's numbers on Japan now look conservative, he said, noting that revenues will likely be closer to $4 billion. Japan will likely remain the world's biggest mobile game market for at least another year, he said.

Unlike browser-based games, apps are easier to adapt for overseas markets, and Japan's wholehearted adoption of smartphones is lowering barriers between countries and gaming cultures. The willingness of consumers to spend on mobile content—and in particular on games—is luring game makers from abroad. Developers from Supercell and King.com are at the gate, spending money on promotional gimmicks and advertisements to try to break in. Meanwhile, Japanese developers are trying to sell their games abroad.

Many Japanese companies now eye partnerships with local game developers to combine overseas tastes with Japanese know-how. Gree Inc., 3632.TO -5.49% a pioneer in social games with its popular "Fishing Star" game in 2007, last year bought U.S.-based "Modern War" mobile game developer Funzio for $210 million to build games for Western audiences. Line Corp. is looking to expand partnerships around the world. It recently partnered with PT Kreon Mobile, a subsidiary of Indonesia's largest online game publisher, PT Kreon.

Jun Otsuka, Line's global business manager, said he meets with developers around the world at clips of 30 minutes each, to find the right fit.

In the end, the only real advantage that Japan has abroad may be a devotion to service.

"We are part of the service industry," Mr. Otsuka said. "Users are buying the total experience. You can't sell something and then walk away."

The end is nigh. :p

On a related note, given our Capcom discussions earlier, and that the 3DS is the only healthy platform on the market, what is our current 3DS line-up for 2014, especially in terms of titles that could do a 150K or higher LTD?

I'll probably end up listing a few that might not do that.

Nintendo:
-Kirby: Triple Deluxe
-Yoshi's Island
-Super Smash Bros.
-Mario Golf
-Mario Party

Square Enix:
-Dragon Quest Monsters 2
-Bravely Default 2
-Theathrhythm: Curtain Call

Sega:
-Persona Q
-Puyo Puyo Tetris

Capcom:
-No games announced

Konami:
-New Love Plus+

Namco Bandai:
-Arino no Chousenjo 3

Tecmo Koei:
-I uh, am I forgetting anything?

Marvelous AQL:
-Harvest Moon: Linking The New World
-KAIO: King of Pirates (I'm feeling incredibly generous today. :p)

Level 5:
-I vaguely remember them saying a new Yokai Watch is coming.
-I'm fairly pessimistic on Layton 7, but I feel I should list it here.

More is assuredly coming, but I find it interesting to track resource spend on the prime dedicated platform (and thus prime local competitor) given the seemingly astronomical rise of mobile in the region.

It would be interesting to see how the 3DS line-up compares with the DS or PSP during similar time frame.

Also don't Level 5 said they are going to make Fantasy Life as their new yearly franchise?

Ah sorry, I was mixing things from my memory and paging back through stories from Gematsu since they cover the most direct Famitsu news and didn't see them.

There are obviously some yearly series, but I left them off until they're announced since I don't like to list things that aren't publicly confirmed yet.

I forget, Wonderflick is basically coming to every platform under the sun but the 3DS & x1 right?

Wonder Flick is Xbox One as well actually.

There are obviously some yearly series, but I left them off until they're announced since I don't like to list things that aren't publicly confirmed yet.

NP. I actually wanted to add to ur list there Arino no Chousenjo 3 by Bamco there.

Not sure if they are big enough but I think Arino is quite famous there.

I know you're joking (....well I hope?), but that was pretty much the worst ban bait ever....but it somehow happened anyway
lol

Just joking lol. It is just, he goes overboard I guess?

I see NPD fever has hit sales-GAF.

I'm taking the GC number as a referencing point. If it can't even beat or get relatively close to GC's number its a cooked goose. 150k tells us its dead.

Hasn't Devil Survivor 2 Break Record been delayed to 2014? Small release but still.
I contemplated that, but given how the last one sold (or honestly even the non-re-releases), I couldn't really imagine it near the 150K mark.

It also didn't have "new IP so who can say 100% for sure!" status.

Added. Thanks.

Ah, I missed that qualifier. There isn't that much announced, I guess. 2014 will be very interesting for 3DS.

^_^ I actually wanted to add Hero Bank there but after seeing how Gyro and Gaist crash and burn, I had almost zero trust on that multimedia IP there.

Also, I think Fossil Fighter is a big IP for 2014 there.(It always sells well right?)

Not really sure about Toshin toshi though. Classic rpg. Maybe around Etrian sales?

The last one I kinda can remember is only Kuroko under consideration that the series is currently one of the most famous manga from WSJ.

Hope that is helpful for u.^_^

Even with Pachter being Pachter, I seriously doubt he'll end up being off by more than 100%, let alone close to 200%.
