Looks like Sony allocated way too many units for Japan. Meanwhile in Europe you still can#t find them on shelves.
I guess Yodobashi website is not being properly updated.
The Kyoto store (second to last) is supposed to not have stock available until Wednesday 26th.

The window is closing. If we get PS4 sales today, the number should be coming at any moment.

we didnt get wiiu or vita till around the normal time famitsu would do their update on a wednesday (but obviously on the monday after launch)
theres is a couple of hours till then
Up to now I think that PS4 could be an "evergreen" topic in Japan, if we consider two weeks as "ever" ;p
Really: it is the only and unique home console of possible choice in that market, so I think that (being price-positioned well, compared to the PS3 launch, and with different Japanese games like Yakuza, could last a couple of weeks. I know that those games are cross-gen, but we started seeing that even Vita versions of cross-platform games can sell decently compared to their PS3 counterparts, recently, so I think that at launch the PS4 versions can do decent results)
Eh, I think any negativity will be seen as a reflection of the Japanese market, not the PS4. It's doing great in the west, it'll continue doing great in the west. It's selling off the back of western games, and it's largely western games that people are looking forward to.This thread is getting bloody depressing fast.
It seems like Sony may have made a monumental error in stuffing the channels in Japan, probably their first major error of judgement in this console generation.
Americans and Europeans still have the "thirst" and their demands are not being met.
They should've just given a "token" 200 - 250k to Japan and moved the rest of the monthly production to the US and EU.
At least then they could've boasted that they sold every PS4 they had in Japan and continued to meet the burgeoning worldwide demand while they're at it.
Unflattering articles about the lack of demand in Japan (like this one from the Guardian) won't do the PS4 any favours.
This is not just a numbers game, it's also a PR/perception game and the battles for the hearts and minds of consumers are not just being fought in the stores, but also online via message boards, social media and other avenues of discourse.
The last thing they need is the pervasive sense of negativity that has already permeated the XBone and WiiU launches spreading to their own mostly positive launch so far.

I expect a rash of 'console gaming is dead in Japan' articles though.
It has to be (slightly?) below 200k at this point.

Well, if some prediction of average 15K a week will be true, those articles would be justified :\
Or will the XBONE be the Japanese savior!?!? LOL
Because, replying to Yoshi, Japan could have chosen Wii U: but it didn't.
why still no numbers?
The point is, just because they have not chosen Wii U up till now, this doesn't mean they need to choose PS4. They can still choose later down the road when there are games they are actually interested in. And the choice then still is not unique, they'd still have the choice of PS4 and Wii U (though they will probably realistically choose PS4 over Wii U, considering where the support is, but seemingly for now, the current support isn't great for either one from a general japanese point of view).

if Microsoft had planned ahead and put a lot of money into funding Japanese games there might have been a chance for them to claim the market as sony has no game.
sadly this isn't going to happen and with Japanese console gaming being at a strange place right now it probably wouldn't be worth the investment anyway.
To be honest it is kind of unfair to blame "teh industry" if the PS4 does bad in Japan. Sony have done a piss poor job of getting appealing titles out there.
I think the number is so high that they need more time to countToo low, Famitsu is embarrassed

Seriously though, i dont think a potential delay means much. If i remember correctly, this happened to a Pokemon game as well, and people thought maybe it had been selling poorly, but that wasnt the case. I'm not speaking in favor of the PS4 here, i'm just saying that a delay of numbers doesnt necessarily mean low numbers in general.
first of all, I really think that PS4 will do well, at launch. I don't understand where all the negativity comes from. Really.
Secondly, it is not so true that there aren't Japanese games: they are, from third parties. They are crossgen. Was it an issue in the West? Not so much. I think that even the good results of Vita versions compared to the PS3 versions of recent games can anticipating decent result for PS4 version of crossgen games.
PS4 will probably not set Japan on fire as the Wii did (at its beginning) but stil...I really can't see it performing as bad as the Wii U.
