it's almost like old games continue to perform very strongly on actual healthy platforms, rather than falling off the charts forever in favour of the new flavour of the month.

Dude, that game, daily, has >1.3M concurrent players and is almost always #1 in concurrent players. If we look back far enough, the game climbed in popularity well after its release. Those daily players are constant money in. Not surprised one bit CS is #1 sales.

A 10 year old game that has a decade of psychological manipulation and peer pressure on players to participate in their sanctioned gambling, yeah.
It is fucked up that a "free" game generates the most revenue. Although, they sell some sort of prestige pack or something, right? Something that makes you a VIP so you aren't matched with Chinese or Russian players who cheat.

Sadly I agree. It is more of political climate, even if majority does not want twisted woke agenda in the west, but the political climate is still pushing or forcing this agenda, then there is no hope.
Weird I did not see any force and push for agenda of twisted gender ideology like misuse of gender pronouns and trans.

There are plenty of games that have western brainrot embedded in them but Metaphor isn't one of them. Lots of influencers and grifters are grasping at straws to find something bad to say and there isn't much.
And as a SMT fan with the Utopia tidbits I think we know what that Utopia will turn out to be.
Until gamers stop buying things with brainrot the gaming industry is due for a crash. Gamers sadly are akin to Pigeons that grab whatever bread that is thrown their way as long as it is shiny and new enough to grab their attention.
And even games like Stellar Blade with the promise of no Censorship succumbed to Western Pressure and tried to bullshit us. And it got reverted because we were not having any of it. People do not like being lied to.
Multiple parts of the game talk about inclusivity and tolerance, which the chums and grifters obviously can't accept, and they call it "woke"
There have been lots of arguments over the screenshots and localizations, before it was revealed all of this is in the Japanese game too, grifters like Endymion or whatever have been getting into arguments with others over it, etc.
it's nonsensical. Just like Baldur's Gate 3 last year. Just like anything, really. "Woke" is just a word used when people get stories that aren't just catered exclusively to them and their world views. Not worth paying any attention to at any point in time, and certainly not in a scenario as stupid and flimsy as this.

Yeah I got my key from a reseller the moment I say it, 50€ is a very nice price for such a long and cool game.
