Microsoft looking to purchase...

They already mentioned their stick. What can they purchase regarding that?

Personally I expect some kind of deal with either Netflix and Disney+ down the road on streaming. MS is essentially building a coalition against Amazon on the western front and if Sony plays a similar game with Tencent, MS will need a coalition against that too. Maybe Nintendo in the future?

Amazon has its Fire TV Stick -> MS want to introduce one
Amazon has Prime -> MS ???
Amazon has space program -> MS enters space with Starlink
Amazon has Luna -> MS has GamePass

But damn, Bezos Corp. is huge.

P.s On PC I expect some deal with Valve (and retirement of Windows Store) because of EGS + Tencent (and if Sony in cahoots there so it too).
P.p.s. one of the interesting things is that in all that Microsoft is not a monopoly. Very fascinating.

This actually makes a lot of sense long term.
It also gives them a direct line to consumers who subscribe who don't own ms products.

AJUMP23

Parody of actual AJUMP23
I think they tried TV under a different management and it failed miserably.

I don't know what they would purchase, because most streaming with the exception of Netflix has come from the old media giants now. I don't think MS or Sataya wants a Viacom, or anything like that. I think maybe a strategic partnership would be a good idea where they can leverage some technology to put gamepass on a streaming service or something like that. The only place to really go with that would e Netflix, as Amazon and Google have their own service for gaming. Maybe a partnership with ROKU would work for MS>

It's about exposure.

Offering additions for gamepass is only interesting to the current gaming community. Offering gamepass to those who watch content via streamed channels opens up a new value stream of customers by exposing them to games.

On USA market there are more services, but I wonder if MS is going after some world wide deal

Eh... anyone big enough to really matter is worth insane amounts of money.

Netflix is like 100's of billions now.... Hulu probably at least 20 billion at this point valuation if not more.

Who else would even matter?

At the current pace I don't see this happening as they have been bitten way too many times by trying to do the TV thing. Its never worked out for them and Xbox.

This isn't so much Xbox or even MS trying TV as it is them looking to straight up buy someone that already does it. Seeing how Amazon has made huge strides to basically be a TV and Movie Studio, MS wants to jump right to that level.

I was thinking this too, anything that would actually make a difference is going to be incredibly expensive.

Makes more sense to have all the apps allowed on their system. Maybe do a marketing deal for lower costs.

Jumping into TV distribution is different than their current model as they are buying the developers along with the IP. In the TV space you sometimes own the IP and the rights to distribute it and not the creators themselves.

This is a stupid rumor. Ms already offers streaming content and you can already use all streaming services on the platform.

Ms missed the chance at netflix years ago (blame Ballmer)

Not a chance on this one. There are simply too many hoops they'd have to jump through in regards to international licensing.

You should probably label this as you simply guessing rather than it being a legitimate rumour. It's bad enough you have VirginGAF as your baby.

Sounds expensive, to MS and also to consumer, if the point is to sell game+video service cheaper what they would cost separately

gamepass is expensive and video streams are expensive too, GP is around 13e and netflix is 13-15e, so it would be around 26-30€/month separately, so can they really offer it on much lower price? if they cant, what is the point when people can just but services they want separately?

Maybe it is cultural thing, because here most people see having multiple services as wasting money, because you can have 10 video services but still have the same limited time to use to watch them. So, people just get 1 service and stick with it, only people with inability to think their financial side get multiple.

And if GP+netflix would be cheaper than both separately, only those benefit that already have both of them, while rest think that it is unfair because they wanted GP+prime etc. because netflix have shitty catalog (compared to USA many countries have 25-50% of items)

unlimited 100mbps internet connection costs 9.90€/month, so to me anything over 10e sounds bit expensive to have more than one service. PS+ is perfectly priced as it is around 5e/month or less.

Well, many probably think "ahh, only 20-30€/$ month, that is nothing!" but I like to think what the yearly cost is, would I pay 240-360€ on one go to get that? and the answer is usually no. And everyone should think "there are 100 games in the service, how many I really want to play? 5? then it is better to just buy em", quantity blinds the common sense easily

small droplets turn into big river.

Why in the world would Amazon sell prime video? lol

And HBO Max is doing poorly.. but it is 100% the entire future of HBO since cable is going away eventually... they also aren't selling the farm, it just makes no sense for them.

On yearly scale - 360 euro is nothing. I mean a single console game costs 80 euro or 50 euro or whatever.

Also considering that last rumour bore fruit basically year later so...

LMAO, just seen this from your other topic. Underrated comment

If MS purchases them, they'll be available for the world.
They still don't have worldwide content - Netflix is famous, Disney is brand. In countries outside Western World basically only those are well know names.

I am not sure what can they purchase - they will need to pay for the content anyway. Personally I would prefer some kind of deal with Disney+
