I think it's kool-aid to believe that a 58 year old man had any chance in combat against a 27 year old, based on a couple of clips of sparring sessions. So I guess that's where we sit.

I don’t think he grifted. I think he got in the ring, saw how much more difficult it was than he expected, took a punch, looked for the higher gear that he always relied on, and it wasn’t there anymore, and he panicked. Because again he’s old. I just keep repeating myself but it is just that simple. There is a reason people in their 50s don’t box.I think he could had done better.
Never the less if didn’t have the heart to fight like in that post match clip above he shouldnt do the fight for a payout.
But he did. Got paid $20M I think and screwed over fans pretending he was in shape and had the drive to win.
Give him credit. He grifted a big pay off.
But the practice footage told a different story. A Very different story.I don’t think he grifted. "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" - Mike TysonBut the practice footage told a different story. A Very different story.
Sure, but that statement does not apply to this. It was obvious Tyson was holding back. There was an incredible amount of practice footage that said this was going to have a different turnout."everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" - Mike Tyson

You're gaslighting and you know it.I find it really strange that people actually think otherwise.
Go to a boxing gym, punch some bags, do some combos, then start sparring against an actual person that can hit back and dodge. You're gaslighting and you know it.
I've been boxing and MMA my entire life. I've gone up against people twice my age when I was in my 20s that were trainers as well as others and been knocked around by who they themselves have been boxing their entire life.Go to a boxing gym, punch some bags, do some combos, then start sparring against an actual person that can hit back and dodge.

There were plenty of visual cues that Tyson was holding back. He is a machine, even at 58, and 90% of his technique is hardwired muscle memory reflexes. Things you can't teach other than through repetition and raw talent. You can see every single cue the man was holding back from his normal reflexes after the first hug and ear chat.
I don't know if you're trying to gaslight or run some fanatical interference, but you don't just "lose that" just like that. Release the contract to shut everyone up then. I bet they won't.
This is a mockery of the sport, Jake is garbage and he looked ever so amateur even against a holding back 58 year old grandpa.
Cypher did say, ignorance is bliss, however.
I will agree, it was a masterclass of the almighty dollar. I will disagree that Mike could not have knocked Jake out in the first round if allowed to.Like I said it played out the way I thought it would. I wasn't surprised by any of it. I said as much before the fight. Mike Tyson hasn't been some stone cold killer since 1990, and was getting beaten by tomato cans in the early 2000s, fights he was set up to win (like Kevin McBride). Obviously prime Mike Tyson would beat Jake Paul, but he is an old man now.
I think that this whole thing was just a masterpiece of marketing. They actually tricked people into thinking this old ass guy could step in the ring and win, to the point where they are talking about conspiracy theories afterwards. The fight was definitely a mockery of the sport, not the first time it will be mocked and not the last time.
I never did much boxing outside sparring so maybe i don't know what i'm talking about. But for me, boxing bags are far too heavy and more stamina draining. Hitting a real opponent feels like there's no weight resistance at all in comparison, especially the head shots.Go to a boxing gym, punch some bags, do some combos, then start sparring against an actual person that can hit back and dodge.
Is there any unedited footage of him practicing in the ring for multiple consecutive rounds vs an opponent who is trying to hit him back? But the practice footage told a different story. A Very different story.
There is footage of himself not holding back on hardwired counters he is known for for over 45 years of fighting/boxing. Until the "fight."Is there any unedited footage of him practicing in the ring for multiple consecutive rounds vs an opponent who is trying to hit him back?
Tyson had maybe 1 good round before Jake told him to back it up. After that, it was over. Tyson ended up with half the amount of hits as Jake and his glove biting, while a nervous tick, was more apparent here than ever.Is there any unedited footage of him practicing in the ring for multiple consecutive rounds vs an opponent who is trying to hit him back?
And even in that good 1st round, he was only giving him a taste and not exploding full power. Then the hug happened, bird in the ear and you can read the face and the glove tap. Then he flinched and held back every single open counter from that amateur being exposed ever since that hug. Bit his left glove (his power hand) to contain the beast.Tyson had maybe 1 good round before Jake told him to back it up. After that, it was over.
