In 2025, MLB The Show is celebrating its monumental 20th anniversary, a milestone that honors two decades of baseball history, innovation, and unforgettable memories for baseball fans around the world. To mark this special occasion for San Diego Studio and PlayStation Studios, MLB The Show 25 proudly features not one, nor two, but three cover athletes for the first time ever — Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson. These rising stars join a rich history of legendary cover athletes, symbolizing the future of baseball as we celebrate 20 incredible years of the franchise.

MLB The Show 25 launches on March 18, 2025

We are also thrilled to announce that MLB The Show 25 will launch on March 18, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The game will not be on platform subscription services in 2025. Early Access begins on March 14, for anyone who purchases the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Mark your calendars for a first look at our first Gameplay Trailer, which will be revealed on February 4 at 9:00 AM PST on San Diego Studio and MLB The Show social channels.

Look forward to even more weekly feature reveals, including Feature Trailer Deep Dives featuring MLB Network host Robert Flores, and the return of Feature Premieres from the development team at San Diego Studio.

Pre-orders for all editions (Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition) will open on February 4 at 6:00 AM PST on theshow.com, platform stores, and participating retailers.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time a PS Blog announcement entry has mentioned other consoles like Xbox or Switch, they didn't do that in the previous year announcements.

Possibly meaning SIE is publishing all the console versions themselves now?

I'm surprised that it still isn't hitting PC, but it's interesting that they're dropping PS4 and X1, but maintaining Switch. That sounds like the deal with MLB dictates exactly which platforms that it will come out on and that deal needs to be revised.

I wonder if next year we'll see a Switch 2 version and a PC version.

I think having PS4/Xbox One alongside Switch 1 with this entry would have been a better call, just so they could drop the three platforms next year and go PS5/Xbox Series/Switch 2.

It's also interesting that they made no mention of PS5 Pro, which I no doubt expect they'll be supporting, but just funny to mention other platforms but not all of your own.

Good, about time they dumped the PS4. The graphics have been a joke and the modes have become stale af the last 2-3 iterations. I skipped last years for the first time ever. Which, as a baseball junkie is something I never thought I'd do.

It's not day one on Game Pass, so you may be right on the money.

He's not on the money. They've mentioned Xbox and Switch before.

No more gamepass, lack of PC is odd…but maybe pc players aren’t big into sports games?

Does madden sell well on pc?

EA FC was in the gold tier of steam game sales, but my guess is that's mainly driven by European PC gamers.

NBA 2K was in the bronze tier, which suggests to me there's at least SOME value in putting it on PC.

I think Sony and MLB have a deal for what platforms it comes out on and that deal predates Sony's major PC push.

Switch 2 will replace Switch next year, but there must have been some incentive for Sony to drop PS4 and X1 this year rather than next. Sony has been getting a lot of flack about Pro Baseball Spirits, so I wonder if this next game might be a step up and the Switch will simply get the same version it got last year with a new coat of paint.

Will be interesting for sure.

The deal for GamePass obviously expired and wasn't renewed. I think Sony ultimately made the right choice when it agreed to make MLB multiplatform in order to keep the franchise even in the face of the GamePass deal, which must have been hard. Fast forward 4 years and Xbox is largely irrelevant.

I hope that eliminating the PS4/XBO versions means a relevant improvement in the graphics engine and visual level of the game at the level of a new generation..... These years have really been more than disappointing in terms of graphics in sports games, but MLB that aspect has been pathetic.

Looks like they mentioned it every year.

People getting tricked by the changed thread title from the Blog title.

It wasn't in the cover athlete (and game) announcement blog entry for last year, unlike this year's. I didn't look for the other edition entries, didn't know it was there (y)

The series is completely dead for me, Pro Yakyu Spirits keeps putting the show on shame even without doing an international version of the game. 🤣🤣

The show is so stale and graphical you can see that, the game is so ugly compared to the Konami game, the animations are so stiff as well...pro Yakyu games are the pinnacle of the baseball the last year's.

They should just dropped old versions, they keep doing this dragging multi gen versions.

Yes it means Sony is following Microsofts lead and going third party.

God of War, The Last of Us and others to follow on Xbox.

Right Adamsapple?

Minus the switch news here. I'm expecting a significant upgrade on graphics

Avoiding gamepass is a no brainer if you care about making money

Ironically, Sony San Diego is probably PS's most forgotten studio yet produces their most profitable live service game. I can't even imagine how many tens of millions they make off of DD packs.

I don't think they're "forgotten" but if you're uninterested in baseball video games, they don't provide much value for most gamers.
