This has been the truth in the mainstream novel/story world as well for the last decade at least. Traditional publishing companies have been exposed to have literally abandoned taking on any new coming male authors unless their work is heavily edited and re-written for 'female approval'. All semblance of masculinity has been pretty much cleansed unless the male has some connections or is already a known author with weight to throw around. This is why me and millions of reader men have automatically started dismissing any new books that have a female name on them. Nowadays if you want good stories either read what was published before, follow established older male authors who haven't bent the knee (very very few), or buy from new coming independently publishing men who are writing actual good stories for men.
