VGC Corroborates:

EDIT (a few minutes after posting): It's about Oblivion. I'm stupid and didn't include it in the title.

"Now, according to noted insider NatetheHate, the Oblivion remake is set for reveal in the coming weeks – a claim VGC has corroborated with our own sources. Nate claims the game will likely release before June, while sources have told VGC it could arrive as soon as next month."
So uhh... April then. Cool.

According to insider NatheTheHate2, Bethesda could reveal the new version of Oblivion between March and April 2025, with a scheduled release before June.

The insider claims that the announcement was scheduled for mid-year, but everything points to it being moved up. If this is true, we could be seeing the remake of one of the most iconic RPGs in history very soon. 🔥

Are you ready to revisit this classic?

I just think the shortened cycle is to avoid too much hype because it’s not a full-on remake, it’s a light remaster that just let’s the game work easier on modern platforms. I’d love to be wrong but it just seems like the most realistic prospect. Oh well. I’ll still play it.

I hated Oblivion.
Maybe if they completely removed the Oblivion Gates, I'd think more highly of it.
But I doubt they will do that for a remake, since it's integral to the story.

If they fixed the Oblivion gates and the leveling system, despite the lackluster main story I think it would be the GOAT Elder Scrolls game. The questlines, the art direction, the world itself were better than Skyrim.

Still really worried about this project, how it will turn out, and what it could mean for Bethesda going forward (I know Bethesda is not developing this) if it really is using Unreal engine. But perhaps Oblivion is old enough ("small enough") that everything can be modeled correctly in terms of physics and item permanence.. ?

If this was a legit full on remake, like RE2, it would have been at the developers direct In January, imo. I think this remake will be on par with Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remake. Some nice graphics improvements with a few additional gameplay features. I wouldn't expect anything more. I bet it sells for 50$

Oblivion was great at the time but from a remake I'd want a lot more than what a modded version of the game could offer otherwise what's the point?

If it was just an exercise in porting the game framework to UE5 for future use then fine, learn from it, price it accordingly and take that forward into future games... but make the fuck sure to avoid all the obvious potential pitfalls of that engine even when just reframing a 2 decade old game.

I rather they not spend time making this and just let Skyobivion be the official Oblivion Remake just like how Black Mesa ended up being for Half Life.

If a Elder Scroll game remake were to happen, it should be about Arena, Battlespire, or Cyrus the Redguard.

What time is it?

I'd rather not see Bethesda's modern design philosophies applied to pre-Oblivion TES titles.
