Tag, you're it.
Sucks for Skyblivion if true, they've been working on it for years only to get beaten by Bethesda themselves on the finish line.

I'll probably play the both.

I'll also check out both but highly doubt the remake is going to be anywhere as good as Skyobivion anyway. The assets for Skybivion looks too good and the remake will most likely looking more generic and soulless compared to it. Mods which are the main selling point would also favor Skyobivion due to them being on the Skyrim SE Engine which are already really advanced with the creation kit for mods. Skybivion would be one of the best games for these few years at least along with Skywind and Elder Scrolls VI.

If they fixed the Oblivion gates and the leveling system, despite the lackluster main story I think it would be the GOAT Elder Scrolls game. The questlines, the art direction, the world itself were better than Skyrim.

I've never played Oblivion, so can you elaborate what the issue is with the gates?

Unpopular opinion but I personally rate oblivion way above Skyrim. The shivering isle expansion was the cherry on the top.

Sure the combat and magic were less refined but the beautiful world made up for it.
100% agree, I loved oblivion but for some reason i never clicked with skyrim i ditched it around the 20h mark.

Oblivion gates were sorts of dungeons with multiple levels where you had to find a way to the top of the tower with an orb that closes it. The problem with them was there was like 60 of them but their variety was severely lacking and they quickly overstayed its welcome as you were basically doing the same thing over and over again, while exploring the same / very similar locations

All for sigil stones to enchant weapons iirc

I did enjoy putting loads in a room and watching the game crumble lol

Skyblivion is probably going to be leagues better, but guess we'll see.
Wish they gave Morrowind this treatment instead
It would lose everything that makes it Morrowind if they did. That's a heavily text-centric game and you know they aren't going to VA all of that, we'd get some watered down voiced sentence for every paragraph worth of dialogue in the game.

Not really, I can guarantee you its going to suck ass.

Also its not being made by Bethesda its being made by Virtuos (who sucks)

I still don't believe this is a thing. We haven't seen shit. Just rumors and speculation. And it's just going to drop out of nowhere? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

BIG DOUBT

I think they are a pretty big company with multiple sites all over the world. They can handle more than 2 projects at the same time.
According to Wikipedia, 25 offices and 4200 employees.
Wow, thats pretty huge. And they are really only doing porting and remake/remaster stuff....interesting.

Yeah at the moment not 100% sure on this too, it's kinda like the FFIX Remake rumor where even if it's most likely true but still not 100% on it. Something as big as a Oblivion remake would have gotten a bunch of early teasers or something way before even if it was years away,

More dungeon variety would be a win.

In the original, one guy was responsible for designing the entirety of them.

And throw in level scaling and issues with leveling so if you don’t precisely do things in right order those gates ramped up in difficulty faster than you could develop.

It was badly implemented gate system and even worse implemented scaling system.

Mods can help with a lot though.

Do they suck? Look at their track record. MGS3 Delta, Outer Worlds, Hogwarts Legacy, Dying Light, Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection. Seems a lot of publishers trust them with making ports.
