Nearly 90% of Hellblade 2 Xbox Players Haven't Completed it's Story

It has only been a week or so.
That said, look at the completion ratio of something like Pentiment or Pscyhonauts 2. Supposedly great games. Been a while I checked, but I doubt it's improved much.

I sincerely don't understand this data point at all.

The data point is that everyone installed it using their Game Pass subscription, said "that looks nice" then got bored.

To play devil's advocate, the completion rate on a lot of single player games is significantly lower than a lot of people might think, even shorter ones like this.

I just completed it two days ago, not because I didn't want to but because I didn't have the time. 10 fantastic hours. Don't hate!

Didn't look THAT boring from all I have seen on YT, etc. At the very least I would have stayed for the eye candy. I simply don't get it.

7 hours of empty eye candy is a lot of time. I laughed when people said they didn't show gameplay to avoid spoilers, as if the story had any substance. Which clearly doesn't.

DF was drooling all over it.

It's gameplay is even less engaging than the first, which wasn't exactly the games strong suit to begin with. The game looks incredible but as an interactive experience I found it lacking.

Not surprised. Took me 14 days to finish this. I just couldnt stand the 1 hour long walking sections with nothing going on. Extremely poor level design.

6-8 hour game available day one on GamePass. I sincerely don't understand this data point at all.

Okay, but how many screams were heard and how many sword swings were performed by the players? This is what really matters.

Game is far too long for what it is, whats more only 52% have completed the tutorial stage, thats way worse than the headline, even souls-likes tend to have better numbers.

The game is weird and unique. A lot of people are used to mainstream stuff. It's definitely not going to be for everybody. Most interesting stuff isn't for everybody.

Wasn't interested to begin with, but I have Game Pass. So I installed the game, played a couple hours and was done with it. This metric only tells us that people who have access to a ton of games will not complete every single one. What a surprise.

Today's low attention span paired with with games available in abundance it's no wonder only core gamers finish this game and SP games in general.

I'm about half way through..

I'll finish it eventually..

but its a drag, man. So... slow.

They really set the pace at the start of the game.... watching her painfully struggle to climb a hill for like 5 minutes while I press up.

Some people here finished it twise and it's gets better the second time according to him. Game of the year material.
I'm old enough to have been on the internet during the "FF13 gets better at the 30 hour mark" discussions. What I learned from that is if you don't like a game 1-2 hour in, you won't like it 30 hours in, let alone the 2nd playthrough.

This is probably most damning. Half of players bailed before the first boss. I tried to watch it on YouTube but the climbing and wandering the seashore were too boring for me.

Diving deeper into the stats, we can see that only 52% of Hellblade 2 Xbox players made it past the first boss and unlocked The Next Sign achievement. You encounter Hellblade 2's first boss after about 30 minutes, and he's not exactly hard to beat, so for nearly half of the game's players to not even make it that far, is pretty baffling.

Remember Hellblade 2 and all the hype?!!

It's wild how quickly the buzz surrounding the game faded.

Is Ninja Theory on the chopping block?

I got the first achievement and noped out. Having the whispers in my ears the entire time was incredibly annoying. It was my most anticipated game for years and it's now the 2nd biggest disappointment to me only next to the new Forza Motorsport.

Whoever allowed this game to waste 4-5 years of studio time should be on the chopping block

It's absolutely insane.

Hellblade games shouldnt even be called games.

I didnt get past the first hour of HB1. By the sounds of it, if I played HB2 I wouldnt get past half an hour.

Way too many gamers are just impatient weirdos. Anyone with access to the internet, which probably is necessary to use Gamepass properly, should know if that game was even within the ballpark of acceptable entertainment for them. But with racing games achievements that require to login online once or finish a single race not being completed, nothing can surprise anymore. Even downloading should be a waste of time for these people, but they bother to do that and than not really do anything with what they downloaded.
