Is Hellblade 2 worth playing?

I really liked the first one. This one didn't click. It's pretty to look at but it's an empty soulless world and Senua never shuts the fuck up. I feel like the first one had more quiet moments.

I watched my wife play through it, and I don't really feel the need to as a result.

From an audio visual standpoint, it's the current Pinnacle of the medium, but as a game it's pretty underwhelming. Still though, I didn't begrudge the time I spent watching my wife play it, so take that for what it's worth.

Still, I'm not averse to playing interactive movies if the story and overall presentation is good. Worth playing or an easy skip?

If you’re good with this type of game, then hell yeah. The story is good, the puzzles are solid, the combat is brutal, and the graphics are insane. The support characters are also very interesting.

My only complaint is the combat at times relies on a mechanic called Focus and it can make the combat repetitive at times.

achieves the almost impossible task of being less of a game than the first one, basically zero depth to combat or puzzles
(if you consider random automated perspective matching a puzzle, that is)
story is snooze fest as well, couldn't finish even though it has like 5hrs playtime

It's not much to play to be honest. It's a tech piece, a cinematic experience but with very limited gameplay. Fortgettable. Play it on Game Pass.

It's a great experience if you don't mind slower paced games that don't offer much in terms of challenge or deep gameplay to master.

It's fun, the story and acting is great, and visually it's the best the market has to offer.

I played it maxed out on my 4k projector with a good pair of headphones and it's been a blast.

You can find it for cheap or on gamepass. At these prices is certainly worth it. And I didn't like the first game.

For me, it was a 3D audio tech demo.

If you can make it past the opening where she's slowly squirming up a hill of mud with out yelling 'COME ON' at your TV. I say give it a chance.
Good luck.

You don’t really “play” Hellblade 2 . It’s an exercise in tolerance. It’s a “game” that asks the question ; “what’s it like to be a nutcase?” And the answer to that question is “not great”.

Worth playing. If you didn't like the 1st one you won't like this one either though it's pretty much more of the same. Gameplay is very barebones and walking simulator is accurate/interactive movie is accurate.

's not a interactive movie since it has more combat than the original. There's a lot of talking and walking, and the puzzles are not that great too

Awsome if you have GamePass. Good if is like $10. Any other way I suggest choosing another game more videogame, like Yakuza

If you like good graphics and love the feeling of pressing up on a left analog stick, you should definitely play it.

Good tech demo, visual showcase. It is insane that it came 7 years after the first, the lack of gameplay is not justified

The ending comes a bit rushed in my opinion. But it's an intense game and experience, but it's nothing you play because of the gameplay which is even more reduced compared to its predecessor. Somehow they managed to make the combat even simpler; you only fight one on one. It's always the same. It didn't leave anywhere close the impact the first game did to me.

Get it on Game Pass, finish it in two or three sessions, then refund the Game Pass or use the remaining time for other games.

Yes.

There's a combat section in there that's worth the price of admission alone, arguably the most intense single combat encounter this gen. My jaw was on the floor

Its an experience, not a game - Go in with that mindset and enjoy it for what it is. Not everything needs to be a gamey ass video game.

True to your tag.

It’s terrible compared to the first one. But I think there’s an option to have the game play itself and just watch it. If you ran out of things on Netflix.

If you go in expecting a more narrative driven game than gameplay and pick it up on Game Pass or at a discount, yes. Right now it's $30 on Steam, or you can get it on Game Pass. It's great for that entry price. It's got an 83% on Steam because most gamers like it. It's good. You just have to temper your expectations and know there's limited game to be played. It's not quite a telltale level of story only, but it's somewhere north of that. If you don't play it with headphones, you're doing yourself a disservice.

Edit: also to give an idea of why people hate this, check their post history. A lot of people in here negative on it were calling games like The Order 1886 their GOTY. Definitely some inconsistencies and biases going on.
