they usually have a list which gives you the cash value. Most (if not all) shops don't have a trade in value - each game basically as a value and that's what you get if you are cashing it in.
The amounts tend to be okay, some games like Monster hunter were still worth 4000 yen or so. If you can finish a game quickly, you can get a big chunk of cash back.
